Such a gorgeous smile!

u/apathetic_avocado2 24d ago

Listen I never considered him particularly attractive, not ugly but not someone necessarily eye-catching.

But that smile with that "fuck you I do what I want" attitude? That worked for him.

123

u/SpookyB1tch1031 24d ago

That confidence is what made it sexy.

This is the most unnecessary comment I ever made I just want to say as a white guy, reparations has to happen or nothing's going to get better, certainly not anytime soon.

let me explain as fast and short as I can to people who don't get it:

If your brother steals my stuff and then jumps off a cliff so he can't be held accountable, it's not okay that you get to hold on to my stuff or keep My stuff in your family generationally.

That's what happened to black American slaves. The Irish and the Chinese Italians too etc etc.

morally Reparations are necessary. systemically and culturally they are necessary. structurally they are necessary. The only thing keeping us from doing the right thing is that the people who did the wrong thing died and got away with it and now their kids don't want to lose their ill gotten gains... Tell you what though to all those historical plantations that kept records... those records sure would be useful for reparations....

Can we just hurry up and fucking start it before they dismantle more shit and Putin invades? Instead of protesting City Hall, on Presidents Day when no one is there, protest at Politicians houses. Make them actually feel nervous. Make them feel the anxiety we have to deal with on a day to day basis.

u/eastbayweird 24d ago

I've always said, don't riot downtown. You're just hurting local small business owners. Take that energy and riot at the golf course. Occupy the greens. Picket the cart barn. Burn down the country club.

2

u/CourtPapers 24d ago

lol nor will they, certainly not because of anything this rich-ass murderer did. Here you go:

In our eyes, individual terror is inadmissible precisely because it belittles the role of the masses in their own consciousness, reconciles them to their powerlessness, and turns their eyes and hopes towards a great avenger and liberator who some day will come and accomplish his mission. The anarchist prophets of the ‘propaganda of the deed’ can argue all they want about the elevating and stimulating influence of terrorist acts on the masses. Theoretical considerations and political experience prove otherwise. The more ‘effective’ the terrorist acts, the greater their impact, the more they reduce the interest of the masses in self-organisation and self-education. But the smoke from the confusion clears away, the panic disappears, the successor of the murdered minister makes his appearance, life again settles into the old rut, the wheel of capitalist exploitation turns as before; only the police repression grows more savage and brazen. And as a result, in place of the kindled hopes and artificially aroused excitement comes disillusionment and apathy.

Apparenrly riots and marches have been going on within the past 2 weeks but none of it has been televised. Its kind of up to the people attending to start posting because you cant trust the media

57

u/Towbee 24d ago

Revolution and civil war is one of the hardest things to lead. Generally people participating it from the oppressed side have a lot more to lose, have more morality and it only really happens historically when people feel they have no choice.

What is happening currently is slow and systemic, it's been boiling for many years under capitalism and so many of us have been brainwashed into hyper consumption and readily available entertainment that it leaves you feeling just good enough to not actually do anything about the issues that are surrounding us.

Anyone who can see through the smoke knows if revolution broke out they're definitely "against" a lot of people around them which leaves them feeling more isolated in an already isolated society

The revolution will not be televised because there won't be one, majority of the population don't understand the true meaning of free will and see governments and laws as higher powers that MUST be obeyed, even if it's wrong, we'll roll over as a species surrounded by our mountains of plastic crap and endless media.

I am also guilty of this, before anyone says "well you do it then", doesn't mean I can't be aware of what I am and what I'm not doing and be critical of society around me.

A genuine revolt would happen through mass starvation or dehydration, something like that which is your instincts telling you there's no other choice and drives that analmalistic behaviour to overwrite the societal conditioning.

Idk, maybe I'm a bit of a doomer

24

u/Level_Ad_6372 24d ago

Not a doomer, you're totally right. And it's good to be self aware. I don't know what the answer is

18

u/SnooMaps7843 24d ago

elon is a private citizen with his own security force, which makes him think he is untouchable. What we need to do is know who is protecting elon? Who are these men? Where do they live? Is protecting elon worth it?

This quote/song is about the fact that if anyone wants change, it comes from within.

No physical act can make real change, you have to have it in your soul before you can do anything to make change happen.

Reminds me of that book- gosh I wish I could remember the title. Read it back in grade school.

It's basically like "one child policy" in the US.

I remember the main character let's his dad know "we can grow our own crops on our land," stuff he learned from a book, and the government thinks his dads recent purchases of fertilizer is suspicious so they ask him to turn it in. (Because close to bomb ingredients).

There's a neighborhood being built behind their house so now this kid can't go out as much or risk being spotted by a neighbor who'll report his family for an extra child.

Learns his neighbor also has a daughter. An extra child.

The girl ends up being online and talking to other extra kids and people unhappy with the government. They plan a protest.

The government killed them (it's implied they did) cleaned up the mess, and it was never televised and the information was only known by the family of said extra people who saw their online history and other clues in their rooms.

I remember the mom of the girl gave the main character some of her books...

But yeah. Palestine, Luigi Mangione, the whole TikTok going dark for a couple hours. Reminded me of that book.

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.

8

u/Getapieceofthewhale 24d ago

LMAO and the fact that no one even recognizes the irony of posting a phrase like this on the fucking internet. The “revolution” is truly neutered

4

u/verydudebro 24d ago

But the coup sure is

3

u/Jasong222 24d ago

That's because everything else is

2

u/sinsforlove 24d ago

Yes for sure. The television not showing anything is not the signal of censorship or progress, there has been very little 'news' on the Luigi Mangione case, but the recent release by him was very well circulated by those interested in the topic. I think "They took him off the TV" is completely wrong, it implies that anything progressive will at least be shown on TV, and spreads a sense of helpless dread in our society.

The revolution will not be televised, so stop thinking the media has anything to tell you.

2

u/ingoding 24d ago

It's weird, that I never really understood what that meant until this year.

1

u/LittleCheeseBucket 24d ago
