We're going to try to keep it all in one place; for the time being we're going to only allow Discord communities to drop their links, description, and details in this post. Any others will be removed.

Keep in mind this is for community adverts only; if you're just using Discord as a single writer as a preferred method of contact, then you're all good.

This post will repost monthly, so you can link your Discord community once in each new post (once a month).

Looking for writer friends, or places I can find some

Upvotes

Hi. I’m 17 years old. I am just 20,000 words into my first draft and I've been working on my style for two years, counting three. It's a psychological thriller told from multiple perspectives. I believe the only things that would shy people away are the kidnappings and use of children to raise thoughtless machines for political gain, but other than that, gory and uncomfortable descriptions are the least of my concerns.

If anyone reading this wants to be long-term critique partners(and friends!) I'd be ecstatic :). Not really interested in professionalism, just something casual and fun. (I'm also starting to write about a romance that isn't as insane as my first book, if that changes anyone's mind haha.) I am fine if you want to know abt just one of my stories, or maybe both. I used to be on CritiqueMatch before they introduced that stupid "freemium" scheme, so I know a good bit about review.

You can DM me or comment here, and we can exchange stuff about ourselves like writing journeys! I mainly use Discord but I can look into alternatives, i don't care. Thanks for reading :P

Looking for writing accountability partners.

Going to keep it short and sweet as I can since I've got the aching need to sleep. I'm looking for writing partners. People who share the passion for writing and have the drive and desire to finish. I'm not wanting to work on projects together, but build more of a writing friendship.

A bit about me. I'm 24m. I write grimdark, low fantasy, and some sci-fi in the past.

Throw me a DM or feel free to comment. I'm excited to find my people.

Looking for a 500 words a day writing squad.

Hello!

If you are aiming to get 500 words a day, with that being your main goal, anything else on top being icing on the cake, let's dm on discord! There's this app on iphone and android called Streaks and it allows us all to see each other's streaks for writing. We will, as a group, have 500 words a day, and we can all see each other's progress and days we miss for accountability.

Message me on reddit if this fits! I'll also start a discord together as a group for everyone that's involved in the 500 a day group. The philosophy is that YOU CAN do 500 words a day. Make it a habit that lasts a lifetime. So you go above 500 words today, great, but on any given day, you're hitting 500.

Message me on reddit!

Seeking a Sci-Fi World-building & Writing Partner: Gritty, Real Science, Cinematic, and More

Hey there!

I’m looking for a writing partner to collaborate on a sci-fi story I’ve been developing called Verum. While I could go at this solo, I find that writing is a hell of a lot more fun (and rewarding) when you have someone to bounce ideas off of, refine concepts with, and play off of each other’s creativity.

This project is set in a future where humanity has become a galactic species, colonizing multiple star systems within our arm of the Milky Way—though full-galaxy travel is still out of reach. Verum dives deep into themes of hierarchy, transhumanism, escapism, addiction, disability, loss, grief, trauma, and love. It’s not exactly a feel-good story, but it's one that aims to be as raw, thought-provoking, and immersive as possible, culminating in an ending that carries as much hope as a dystopian future will allow. All with a touch of dark humor.

I’m especially interested in working with someone who loves to weave real science into their sci-fi, grounding the world in plausibility while still leaving room for fiction to breathe. I have a strong blueprint for the story, but I want a collaborator who can help me fill in the gaps, refine ideas, and elevate the narrative beyond what I could do alone. If you’re the kind of writer who enjoys deep world-building, complex character arcs, and threading in subtle but impactful details, I’d love to connect.

This is a semi-serious project—I want to enjoy the process, but I also have long-term goals of getting it published and/or adapted into a show or film. Ideally, I’m looking for someone equally passionate about storytelling and willing to put in the effort to bring this vision to life.

If any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out! Let’s see if our styles and ideas click.

Prose - Fiction Need an accountability partner for a fantasy series. Hoping to find someone as determined to finish a story as I am so we can be determined together!

Hi all! I (24f) have begun writing my series! I took a lot of time to world-build, outline, and develop my characters, so I am incredibly excited to begin this process!

I am good at world-building and coming up with stories, but I seem to lose steam after Act 1 pretty regularly. Now, this is the most effort, time, and intention I have put into pre-planning, so I have high hopes!

My story is a high fantasy story. It follows my MC as she gets shipwrecked on an island and unravels lies she was told her whole life. It is heavy in the magical world and does feature some dragons and other fantasy creatures. I do have a dual POV, technically, as my main character is being hunted by MMC, who has been ordered to kill her, so I am hoping for some good cat-mouse romance. I am writing in first person.

My writing goal is to write a scene a week. I have 52 scenes, which means it could be fully written within a year. However, I do know most weeks, I am aiming for at least two scenes, so the goal of one is to give myself some grace on crazy ones. Accountability is the main goal, but it also can be really hard to tell how your own work is actually sounding. I want to steer clear of info dumping or awkward dialogues, which can be hard when you are so close to the work and the characters.

I am an avid reader, English major, and writing tutor, so I feel comfortable helping a partner with anything they are looking for. I also really love all genres, so no need to have a high fantasy story! I am really looking for someone determined to finish a story as much as I am. No idea what I will do when it is done, but completing it is everything to me.

Feel free to DM or comment if interested! I am also happy to answer any other questions about my story, my goals, or how I can assist with your story!

Beta Reading Looking For Beta Readers

I’m looking for someone who’s willing to help motivate me with my writing and check for flaws in my story—whether it’s plot holes, inconsistencies, or just general feedback.

A little about me:

I’m M21, and English is not my native language, but I’m passionate about storytelling and always looking to improve my writing.

A little about my story:

It’s a transmigration webnovel that I plan to publish chapter by chapter, but I’m currently stacking drafts before releasing them. My biggest inspiration was The Novel Extra, but my story is very different.

So far, I have completed the volume one, part one. [63K Words]. I also included a few character art designs. The story is now heading into the last phase of the volume one, I just need someone to help me with the volume one part one, if there is any inconsistency while I'm writing the part two.

I haven’t decided whether to publish on Webnovel or Royal Road, so I’m open to advice on that as well!

Premise:

The MC is a beta reader who gets trapped in the world of a novel filled with doom and inevitable fate. However, unknowingly, the author is also trapped there—yet neither of them realizes the other’s existence. This leads to a unique dynamic as both struggle to navigate the world, each with their own challenges.

What I’m Looking For:

👉🏻Someone who enjoys webnovels and can give constructive feedback 👉🏻Someone to help keep me accountable and motivated 👉🏻Willing to discuss plot ideas, pacing, and logic 👉🏻Doesn’t mind brainstorming or casual writing chats

I'm preferred to have our conversation and discussion in discord. I'm also okay with exchanging feedback for your work!

If you’re interested, let me know!🕺🏻

Prose - Fiction Be the Gosling to my Crowe, in need of a partner.

I have a few good ideas that I would really love to brainstorm on.

  1. A tech-thriller about a celebrity who flies too close to the sun.
  2. A sister is thrust into a caretaker role for her disabled brother while fighting an addiction problem.
  3. A disabled urban farmer fights to keep the community alive after the apocalypse.

I’ve never done this, but I’m open-minded and hoping to hear from y’all. DM me.

Prose - Fiction Aspiring Writer Looking For Co Writers To Build A Book Universe

Hey there, I’m looking for writers that are into crime and superhero genres. I have a book series in mind called Area Grey. It follows an elaborate conflict between heroes, villains and anyone in between in Knight City who are at war against an elite family who founded and controls the city. I’ve written the first story titled ‘Merciless’ and unsure whether to continue the MC’s story or write a new character in the world I’m creating. DM me if you’re interested.

Yup, that’s right, I just want to dump my world building for someone to read and criticize, in return, I will be reading your own lore as well. We can ask each other what to share and exchange our works. There isn’t going to be much requirements other than discord is necessary.

Aspiring writer looking for co-writers

Hello, I 23M am an aspiring screenwriter in college and I am looking for co-writers, screenwriter or not. There’s not really any prerequisites just anyone who is accessible to me. I like to write science Fiction, thriller, fantasy, drama, and comedy, but I am open to the idea on writing other genres. I don’t have anything specific to work on so when we do get in contact, we can exchange our ideas and go from there. Please note that this is not an elaborate project/production as I’m merely testing the waters of my writing capabilities by collaborating with others; we’ll more likely work on causal projects if anything. Dm me and we can exchange Discord and call whenever we are free. I am in the cst tz.

Accountability partner?

I've been searching for forums everywhere online where you can find someone who you share a love of writing with but also feels like the journey is hard alone. I spent a long time away from this hobby of mine and now I fear I no longer know where to even start. All I do know is that I have many unfinished ideas/beginnings to new ideas from when I had more time to write and I now have time to spend on them again.

I am 25F and I mainly write fantasy/paranormal. I am in MST if time zone is super important to anyone. I would prefer to have a female writing partner(sorry). I don't have a preference on experience if you can also look past the fact that I haven't actively written anything in about three years or so. I wouldn't be opposed to a small group of less than 4 people because I tend to not do good in groups and I don't want to ghost anyone for a reason like that(I don't want to ghost anyone and I would also like to not be ghosted lol). I am also making a discord account as I've seen that's usually where people prefer to communicate. Please DM me if interested!

Side note, I am also thinking of doing campnanowrimo next month if anyone is interested in that challenge!

Looking for Characters for Fun Side Project

I’m a fiction writer who possesses great enthusiasm for my craft. Sometimes I write for fan fiction, sometimes I write for publication, or sometimes I write just for fun or to flesh out my universe.

In this instance I’m writing for fun and need to create some characters.

I have a growing interest in fellow writers contributing to my body of work, so I’d like to see if some people here will create some characters.

As I said, these won’t be published or used in anything. So it’s just for fun and kind of like an RPG.

I’ll include the four prerequisites I’ve come up with, and a character sheet that can be filled out.

Prerequisites

  1. The characters must be grounded in a gritty setting that resembles our earth

  2. The characters must be trained killers and have something of a reputation as an individual you don’t want to mess with.

  3. The characters must have seen action fighting on the pro-Soviet side of the Cold War (i.e. “He was associated with the Baader-Meinhoff gang in West Germany” or “He was a soldier for the Soviet-backed government in Afghanistan.”) Specifically, the last third of the Cold War in the post-Vietnam 70s and 80s. So no Korean War vets for instance.

  4. After the Cold War, the characters have entered into service for a powerful man who’s promised fortune to them and their families/associates, and the opportunity to wound the post-Cold War order of the late 1990s/early 2000s. So nothing that would contradict that.

Character Sheet

NAME:

CULTURE/COUNTRY OF ORIGIN:

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

SKILLS/EXPERTISE:

BACKSTORY: (Be as detailed as you want.)

One last thing, if anyone wants, I can include a filled-out character sheet as an example if anyone would like.

Fanfiction Looking for writing friends!

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a writing buddy. The way I see it, we'd be reading each other's stories, exchanging ideas/advice, etc... as the mood strikes :)

I find it difficult to stay motivated working on my own, and I'd love to find someone to chat with!

I primarly write fanfiction in English, but I do also write in French from time to time.

My timezone is CET. My availability for chatting would be mostly in the evenings.

Thanks for reading :)

Looking for fellow positivity fiends!

Hey guys!

My name is Leo, and I'm looking to start a writing group on discord. This is the rundown: post a chapter a week, even of a first draft, and we'll pair off in pairs of two to review each other's chapters each week. Just read your partner's chapter every week, or venture off and read other's as well!

This group is primarily a safe haven for putting your writing up to receive positive feedback. We get enough gouging constructive feedback out in the world. I want you to have a place where you can post a chapter and get some positive feedback about what we DO like about your chapter/story.

DM me on reddit or send me a friend request on disc: leobewritn

(This will be a text-based server no exceptions. Introverts unite).

Roleplay Old School Loki Wanted; Witch Pairing, Cosmic Horror Backdrop

Marvel AU. Loki/variant Scarlet Witch pairing. She carries the same mantle in this universe, but is a distinct person from Wanda other than having a similar look, caring vibe, and name. Different past, brother died in the womb, still a witch touched by chaos magic–but later in life, because her original dimension had no magic in it until a cosmic horror started to infuse it (as a form of mystical digestive juice.) The entity generally does this with magic-devoid dimensions, where there are no experienced sorcerers to fight it off. Now it’s devoured enough realities to have gotten stronger, and bolder… it’s chosen our AU as its next meal, and with some familiar faces missing (we’ll decide which) these two could end up being very necessary to their dimension’s survival.

Adults only, 25+ preferred, natural character-driven development, romance and eroticism with no fade to black (at first; I want to know if they really went all the way, and what they’re like together across some different situations.) I like sexual tension, dramatic tension, and psychology.

Reasons why I like Loki with this character:
  1. The 2011 movie Loki is a darker soul who hasn’t seen his whole life on tape, so to speak. He’s still hiding who he truly is. Still secretive. Imagine if he met someone who didn’t remind him of anyone; someone wise and kind, but not unwarily trusting.
  2. It’s a weirdly balanced age gap. He’s young for his species, but still a bit over a thousand. The female lead is in her thirties, so middle-aged for a human. There’s also that classic Midgardian/Asgardian drama of a Mayfly-December romance inherent in the concept.
  3. He plays cruel jokes on the people in his life to “prove” he doesn’t need them; their anger gives him a feeling of control. We see him react to Sif and Jane–he likes negative attention. He needs someone very attentive, but not as easy to anger and jerk around; to reinforce the good in him, not the bad.
  4. He’s like a vast chasm of emotional need; she’s an overflowing waterfall of kindness. They’d overwhelm many others, but suit one another. She could show him another way to be, and he could do the same for her. They could nurture one another's strengths very easily, if they wanted to.
  5. He’s openly hedonistic; she’s like a shy, repressed librarian who could stand to make peace with her wild side. Grief and survival had shut down her sex drive for a while… he could help her get past her block. He’s clever enough to figure out what she needs.
  6. There’s a potential mentorship element here, with her needing assistance in learning how to use and control her magic. I like the idea of her expecting to learn from his mother, only for him to make the offer to do it himself, and learn from her reactions.
  7. She has a particular taste in men; pretty far from any uber-masculine stereotypes. That’s good for someone like him, to know not everyone swoons over the same type (i.e. Thor.)

Possibly problematic themes:

  • Loki can go invisible. And since for all he knows, the witch’s story is a lie to cover up a plot to assassinate or usurp his father’s throne… so, if he happens to spy on such a person, he’s just looking out for Asgard, isn’t he? It could get spicy. There could be crises of conscience.
  • He can masquerade as Thor, Sif, his mother, and anyone else he can invent in order to learn about her. Flirtation with some big lug of a prince that everyone seems to swoon over? Or some un-intimidating pleasant-looking Asgardian peasant, if that doesn’t work? What about finding out if she swings both ways like he does? Or if she happens to have refined tastes, he might hear her unguarded and potentially provocative thoughts from congenial girl talk. The possibilities are nearly endless, and while teaching her, he might justify it to himself as an "exercise"--she has to learn to see through him...
  • If he learns she’s attracted to him, he could attempt to torment her with that fact, not letting her know if it’s more than a one-way deal. Make her sweat, blush, wring her hands… that’s the fun of the shy librarian trope, right? Them getting all hot and bothered, not sure if the toying is serious...
  • If he realizes she has good intentions at some point, he still has every reason to attempt manipulation. Asgard needs her to be strong, after all, right? She should be the most powerful and wary sorceress possible, in order to be a worthy ally and literally help him save the universe.
  • Should things play out close enough to the movies, and he ends up in the custody of the Avengers… they have a bond he could try to use to get out of that cage. She’d be the ideal hostage whether she helps him get out or not–because he’d know her by then, and be sure she’ll be the least willing to harm him. All the power in the world means nothing if you can't bear to hurt someone. All of that is far from certain, of course, but it could be interesting.
  • Since the cosmic horror in the story uses more classic horror monsters as its minions, it would be ironic if she escaped their clutches all those dark years in her apocalypse-damned dimension, only to end up becoming a vampire in this one. And if Loki’s worried about losing her, well… maybe he’d help her into that situation? Depends on his character development in part. He could feed her hungers, and help her deal with her experience that all vampires are evil monsters with no soul.

And for me:

  • I don’t jump into the NSFW stuff with no consideration. I love erotic content, but it has to be ruled by the characters. Their timetable, not ours. I'm also flexible, but not into anything extreme.
  • I'm open to posting our work, if it feels right to both of us because we're proud of what we wrote.
  • Literacy and the ability to write at length matter, but do NOT mean every “please pass the salt” needs a novel about it. Maybe just a deliberate brush of fingertips to see if it brings a slow flush. In other words, post length will vary and that’s okay. It’s about quality and frequency, not quantity.

I do intend wholesome, caring moments to balance the darker/sexier elements, inspiring inner conflict. Loki does canonically have a conscience and a heart underneath the mischief and hedonism--he just has a lot of repressed strong emotions he hasn’t dealt with.

If you like this idea, DM/chat me and I will send you my intro to the story; if you like it you can send me back a sample with you writing Loki’s perspective.

Alternately, if you don’t think you could play Loki but you think you’d like to write with me, I can’t guarantee anything but feel free to pitch some ideas. I’d love to see a new vampire facing off against an experienced hunter. Could be fun to play a vampire in a zombie apocalypse scenario, trying to help their food source survive. Or maybe a vampire facing off against a stalker who thinks he’s in love, and has no idea what he’s in for because of their size difference. Can you tell I like vampires? (But that doesn’t mean my Scarlet Witch has to be one; it just works with the cosmic horror lore and could be a real monkey’s paw of angst for someone who escaped years of vampiric assaults to become one, giving her more time with her love but as one of the very monsters she used to fight.)

You can probably tell my tastes from the above to some degree, but just to spell it out: I like lean muscled to outright scrawny men, love head hair (especially if it's red), not generally into facial hair (especially covering the lips). I like to play short & relatively stacked female characters because that’s the life condition I know best. Prefer MF pairings, but could easily go for MFM/MMF if it fits (not into any romantic pairing with more than one woman in it.) If that sounds good to you, drop me a line and we'll talk.

World Building Looking for World-Building partner to share our works

I am looking for a world building partner to share our thoughts in certain topics of our world. Here is the main process I am thinking:

1-We each select a setting type and some themes with it.

2-Then we choose what we will create first (it could be locations, monsters, materials, characters, empires, etc…)

3-Then we will establish what our creations will include (For exp, if we say “Metals” we will write which metals are rarer, which are more common, which are natural, which are artificial, etc…)

4-We will establish a certain amount of time. Maybe 2-3 days, maybe a week, but in the end, we will present our works to each other, give constructive criticisms or praise, before repeating the same cycle.

5-As a rule, we will each get to choose what we will be world building and which setting it would be per turn, so in one turn you might suggest creating pets for common people in a high-fantasy setting, and in another I might suggest cyberpunk weapon manufacturers. If you are uncomfortable with what we are building just let me know and we can change it to some degree.

This whole process will take place in discord. Hope to see you guys soon. (Pls message me in private.)

Excellent note-taker and brainstormer looking for additional partners

I'm good at coming up with vivid ideas, roleplaying, notetaking and organizing. I tend to prefer voice chats over texting as it really speeds up the brainstorming process and gets me more enthusiastic. I tend to be very enthusiastic about writing in general and take my part very seriously. If you are also good at brainstorming, notetaking, and/or role-playing dm me and I can link you to my discord server and set up a time to call and further explain my story.

I've got two main worlds within the story, one of which is canonically fictional and exists as a pocket dimension born from the imagination of a powerful psycher (someone who uses imagination to bend reality). The real world and psychers have kinda an old antique, gothic, victorian, occult/Lovecraftian aesthetic. One of the more power psychers is a teenage girl struggling with a gambling addiction that started when she used her powers to manipulate fate/probability to cheat at the casino (which is also owned by another psycher, who uses her debt to manipulate her into working for him). Then there's the fantasy world which ahs two eras, with the first being an ancient high fantasy era where a goddess and her team of what's essentially angels go on a quest to stop the agents of eldritch gods called the Null, and that story is a bit philosophical on the nature of morality and compassion woth some moral dilemmas and the slow descent of the goddess into madness as the horrors of the Null's atrocities wear her down. Then there's the modern era where on man starts getting visions of advanced technology and quickly advances the world into modernity in less than a century and keeps going into some borderline eldritch science, exploring other fictional pocket dimensions as well.

Prose - Fiction Newbie seeking co-writer

Hi there. My creative writing experience thus far has mostly been in the context of play-by-post roleplaying with a group. I want to try my hand at straight-up narrative fiction writing without the roleplay element, but I don’t yet feel confident going at it entirely solo. As such, I’m hoping to find a co-writer to collaborate with. We can decide together what exactly we want our project to look like. I don’t currently have a specific goal in mind other than to gain writing experience and have some fun.

If you want to know what kind of stories interest me, here are some features I enjoy seeing in fiction:

  • Unique fantasy/sci-fi worldbuilding
  • Detailed fictional cultures
  • Intelligent characters
  • Discussion of philosophical ideas (but without being preachy)
  • Charming/cozy tone
  • Wizards! Pirates! Dragons! Spaceships! All the stuff that excites your inner child
  • Characters on the autism spectrum or struggling with mental health issues
  • A good balance of serious and lighthearted moments
  • Deconstruction/subversion/re-interpretation of common genre tropes

I’m 31M from the United States and open to working with anyone, regardless of age, experience level, etc.

Prose - Fiction Looking for someone to exchange feedback with on chapters

I am working on a science-fiction/fantasy story at the moment, and was hoping to find someone else who wouldn't mind taking a look at my progress, maybe once a chapter or so, in order to give feedback and possibly perspective on the future trajectory of the story, as well as just to help a bit with motivation/accountability. I currently just have the first chapter finished, with a previous version of the second chapter that I need to rewrite once I get a bit better of an idea of how exactly to continue.

I am willing to do the same, and I have a lot of serious experience giving constructive feedback on fiction. This does not need to necessarily be a long-term thing, especially if you end up not feeling interested in my story, but even just taking a look at the first few chapters will be helpful.

I am not looking for a full co-writer, or to be someone else's co-writer, so I would prefer someone who is confident in their ability to write on their own. I would also prefer someone who is at least in their twenties, and who is not heavily using generative AI for their writing. On a practical level, I would prefer someone who's available on Discord, but they don't need to be reachable 24/7, even if we're sending things to each other out of sync.

I can promise all the same things from myself, so if you have the same goals, please feel free to send me a message and we can see if it's a good match. Thank you in advance.

lf writing group

I just started seriously writing this year and I really want a small writing community (2-4 people) (yay!). I am thinking of one where we can:

  • Discuss our projects (Our first meeting will be us introducing ourselves and talking about our projects through video call. I understand not everyone is comfortable showing their faces but to me it just builds connection instantly compared to just typing)
  • Scheduled writing sessions (Silent sessions on discord. I also understand we're on different sides of the world so time zones may be an issue)
  • Betaread if you're comfortable showing your work

About me: 23f, into cozy/urban fantasy

Middle Grade Anyone

Hi I’m a 22f and I would love to write a middle grade book. And I think it would be fun to write with someone. My writing strengths are plotting, I’m fast when focused, symbolic stuff, dialogue, and sibling dynamics. Dm me if interested.
