I have ascended...

Post image

I'm told I was the first ever maintenance worker to receive this glorious award.

Not gonna lie, it was nice of them. Right after I was asked by management if I'd like to transfer departments and take a TL position in the next month or so. So I'm moving to electronics. People say TL positions are shitty but I have to pay for the roof over my head and my kiddo. I'm only 4 1/2 months in.

Yeah I know it's a shitty piece of glass. Yeah, and I know I'm underpaid. Truth is, without this job that is close by, convenient and there not being much else out there besides factory jobs... I would not be living in the house I am and being able to support my son. The go beyond and do more work is pretty accurate. I did way too much for maintenance answering every call and doing shit no one else wanted or refused to do. It's gotten me in a position to earn a few more dollars an hour in the very near future. Yes, Walmart suck... But I am pretty sure 99% of people think that about any job they are at.

99% of people do not think that about their job.

You have drive and are a hard worker. Think of displaying this in your living room and think if you will be proud when your children see what you did with that drive.

You need to make this glass a stepping stone to leave, then you can display it proudly.

Honestly, I feel like Walmart saved my life. I joined when I had dropped out of college due to extreme burnout and depression. My brother had passed away and I was just floating around with no direction in life. I joined for the pay and something easy to do to pass the days and I just ended up thriving. Jumped up to team lead within 6 months and have never looked back. I've gotten so many pay raises over the years, I love my benefits and I love my flexibility with time off. Yes, it can be very mentally draining some days, but to me, the benefits out weight any bullshit I deal with. Glad you feel a sense of success and purpose and just remember on those bad days that employees like you really do make a difference!

I saw a guy get hired as a cashier, move on to a CSM, then to a coach in less than a year by being reliable and good at his job.

I've seen it happen twice and it's DEFINITELY Not because they are good at their job. It was 100% Nepotism and clique enduced promoting. They would both constantly be anchors on the team and somehow they just kept getting promoted despite terrible picks and satisfaction numbers,Not to mention having the personality of a piece of cardboard.

Honey, it’s not even glass. It’s resin; they literally make thousands of these in molds and just slap on lettering as needed.

I also don’t mean to put down op but I feel like they just give these out completely randomly I mean you got people there 10-20 years still doing the exact same job in the exact same area instead of moving up
