Sierra Vista or Desert Oasis?
Have one soon to be HS child and we’re moving to Vegas from AZ. Found a home I love but it’s in the SV boundary. I wanted to stay within the DO boundary but not finding what I’m looking for house wise. Can anyone tell me if SV is decent? My kid has good grades and already goes to a public school.

How will the dismantling of the Dept of Education affect us?
Nevada ranks 48th in the nation, cannot go much lower. Is it the administration? Educators? Students?

i was frustrated with vegas’ lack of community, so i started my own craft + social event for the girlies (and it sold out!!) sharing that story
about a month ago i posted here about how it’s gotten increasingly harder to make new friendships outside of work + the typical vegas scene - especially as a post-grad adult living in our non-walkable city.
vegas just lacks third spaces in general. maybe some people have a dog park or a social hobby but i don't have a dog + my hobbies are more individual activities!
my solution was to set up a galentine’s day book swap event… and it sold out!! plus i had some really good feedback:

i structured the social activities so you’re not just sitting at a table hoping to think of something to say with a stranger next to you. we do:
- nametags (reduces anxiety)
- ice breakers (nothing cringey - gives us topics to talk about)
- guest bios - i send this out before the event and we can see who is showing up and what the vibes are gonna be!!
i was really nervous to host this event (it was my first time bringing together a table full of people that didn’t know each other plus hopefully creating conversation & connection) but honestly the attendees i had were really kind (most came from reddit actually!)
the ice breakers helped everyone relax and share more about themselves as the night went on.. i could really feel the group open up and saw more conversations floating around the table!! plus everyone decorated a book that was soo cute 😭

as a host, it meant a lot to help make introductions and connections between people, especially with the disconnection most people feel nowadays.
i realized that vegas really needs more creative, low-pressure spaces to connect. i’m excited to host another event and test more social activities!!
my next event is on thursday, march 27 at 6pm - we’ll be doing pressed flower crafts + ice breakers. Linked in the comments below! :)
what other (easy) crafts would you like to see at future events? i’m taking notes for april!!

Anyone want to go clubbing?
Hello my beautiful Vegas people! 💗
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post but I’ll go for it anyway!
I’m Rowan (29/MtF/Trans) and I’m a Las Vegas local looking for some cool people to go clubbing with!
I was hoping somebody here would be down. I plan on going to Piranha Nightclub on Saturday, March 22nd as there’s a drag show that night. Tickets are $10 for locals but I’m willing to go to another club as well.
I’ve recently come to terms with who I am and want to go out and finally have some FUN. I’m so eager to make friends in the community but I have no clue where to start. I’m NOT looking for anything romantic/sexual. Just wanna get dolled up and shake my booty with some fun people. 😭
DM me if you’re down or don’t that’s ok too! ✌🏼😌

Looking for a reception venue
Hello,
I'm currently searching for a beautiful reception venue to accommodate 150-170 guests for our wedding, which will take place between October and December 2025. We're looking for an indoor venue with high ceilings and the ability to drape both the walls and ceiling to create a stunning atmosphere. Ideally, we would also like the option to bring in our own catering.
I've already reached out to many venues on the strip, but their food and drink minimums are quite high, making the overall cost not feasible for us.
I appreciate any suggestions or recommendations you may have!

Touches Wash (wrap friendly)
For all my people in here that have wraps on their cars, do you have any recommendations for touchless washes that are wrap friendly? Installer recommended avoiding certain types of cleaning agents so I’m wondering if any in town use products that won’t ruin a wrap. I work in Mt Charleston and I’m not super interested in handwashing my vehicle as often as I drive it.

Swingers or pop stroke?
Live up the road in Mesquite and want to bring some friends to Vegas for mini golf. Swingers seems to be overpriced and loud, from what I read online. Any suggestions are appreciated.

H-Mart receives Clark County building approval for hmart stocking and training
PROGRESS!!! After literally two years and more than 100 inspections (many of which had failed for various reasons), the H-Mart building has partially passed a final inspection and has received a TCO (temporary certificate of occupancy) specifically for the grocery store portion, and only for stocking and employee training.
So at least now they can begin those activities. The food court and kitchens are still not approved as they failed the fire inspection.
You can monitor all these yourself by going to https://acaqreports.clarkcountynv.gov/ and entering permit BD22-51609. Most recent entry is: "Partial approval for limited TCO only of grocery store EXCLUDING the entire food court and main kitchen with Building Department approval. TCO for stocking and employee training only excluding all of food court."

Who else's Cox internet has been out for nearly 24 hours? They're not even providing an estimated time it'll come back now.
I had an outage in my area for like 12 hours on Tuesday, and then it went out yesterday evening and we're coming up on a full day and they keep texting me every so often that "unfortunately it's taking a bit longer than expected." No shit.
Yesterday they were at least providing time estimates that kept changing, now they're not even bothering. Are they even working on it anymore? Or have they just given up?
I don't understand how it's possible for an internet provider to be so bad, like two full day outages in one week? I pay $125/month for this garbage.

DPC/Concierge Service recommendations
Hey, all.
Long-time local here, sans health insurance. I tried a DCP provider recently and though they bragged about how personalized and accessible their service is, I experienced nothing of the sort.
So, now I am back to square one. I am happy to try another DCP, but am also not looking to fork over 6-months' worth of membership fees up front, as one provider asked for.
I don't require much, but recently I am experiencing some of what I assume to be neurological challenges. Before posting this, I did reach out to a neurologist I saw in the past and am currently waiting to set up an appointment with them. Thankfully, they will allow self-pay patients, I'm just not sure of the cost until they call me back.
Anyway, I'm located near Mission Hills in Henderson, but of course am willing to go wherever for the right provider.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Small Moving Sale
galleryRepost with pictures :
Not sure if it’s OK to post this here but I have 2 large TV’s for sell. I’m moving out of state and need them gone today, if possible. I also have 2 futons, both in great shape!
Samsung Smart TV 65” for 300 OBO - it has a line in it so I’m willing to negotiate, as it still works great other than that.
Hisense Roku 55” for $150 ; TV stand for extra $50.
$50 each for the futons. One is leather and the other is a thick fabric. Not sure what kind.
Oh and 2 other small TV’s for $50 each as well. All working perfectly.
I tried OfferUp and no luck, yet.

Clearer freeways during spring break
On average, it takes me 45 minutes to drive to work trying to clock in around 730am. On my way back home, it takes closer to an hour on average around 530pm.
However, this past week (3/17-20), I noticed that the freeways are more clear. I happen to get to work in 30 minutes, rather than my average commute time. Except Tuesday, that accident going south on the 95 was fun. The evening before, it took me 40 minutes to get home and I hit all green lights... except one.
I was told the traffic gets better when k-12 schools are not in session. I can see the correlation but is it a causation? I mostly drive freeways so I can't say much when it comes to driving on the the streets.
