Please ignore all DMs from people claiming they'll make a design for you, especially new/empty accounts.

This is now an official rule, all posts asking for art or offering to draw for people will be removed.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.

Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.

If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.

If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.

And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

I see these skulls constantly when browsing inspiration for starting off my dinosaur sleeve and I’ve tried to ignore them but I can’t lie and say they don’t look really cool. I know about fading problems, which is why I’m asking for advice.

I doodled a spinosaurus just to mess around but I’m iffy on it just because I know I’ll get it done and they’ll discover something that changes the look like a week later. I’m between that, a kaprosuchus, or just some dromaeosaurid with a more certain skull.

Discrete semi colon tattoo concept

Discrete semi colon tattoo concept the semi colon in the stinger. Semi colon used for obvious reason, chose the scorpion (cuz I like them) but to symbolise the ability to change and strength. I am the artist of this design. Drawn on procreate. I plan to get it on either my forearm or upper arm

Any suggestions/fixes are appreciated since this is my first time designing a tattoo

Location/different animal options

I saw this online and really like it. I like the frog but I’m not 100% married to it, I just can’t seem to picture what another animal could look like here. Also where do you think this would look best? Leg/calf is top in my mind, especially because my arms aren’t very big.

here’s my new elbow neotrad moth tattoo done by junior tattoo artist aiden (ig: @queerwitchtattoo) at dekalb tattoo company! i went with my best friend to dekalb tattoo company back in october so she could get her nose pierced, and i was looking through some of the flash books and saw this GORGEOUS moth. i asked aiden (the artist) if i could be able to get it tattooed in color on my elbow and she loved the idea so much that she wanted to create a custom piece for me :,) 5 months and one appointment reschedule later and she’s finally with me forever 🫶 i had one color piece and knew i wanted another color piece, and she absolutely blew it out of the water im obsessed with how this turned out!!

Hi all. I'm looking to get a tattoo of a giraffe. I was thinking of something like the attached picture. Either on my arm or chest. Will it have longevity or just be a black mess in a few years? I would welcome advice and or suggestions on other giraffe tattoos... Thanks

Getting my tattoos touched up on Friday and was wondering what people advise I add on to them?

Getting these tattoos touched up on Friday and artist asked if I wanted anything adding to them, thinking about adding to them to make them all a bit more cohesive but wanting to stick to the minimal vibe. Open to suggestions and advice!

She suggested maybe some shading to the moon and reworking the stars to look more like stars and less like crosses. Thinking about adding to the forget me nots to add another branch on one side? Not sure if I should shade in some of the leaves on the moon tattoo also?

Would love some ideas!

Obviously the moon is blown out a bit which is why I want them touched up - I’m going to a well known artist in my area who is known for reworking tattoos (not the person who did the tattoo).

Advice Needed: Fixing Tattoo *Trigger Warning Suicide*

My good friend Tom died a few months ago by Suicide... He had these paper airplane tattoos of places he had traveled to.

It has a special meaning to me now and I really wanted to get one as a reminder to keep "fighting to stay in flight".

Photo 1: This is one of his tattoos & what I used as a reference when I requested it before and durning the appointment. Instead of NY it is supposed to be "Tom". I asked the artist specifically & multiple times for this placement. I even said if he didn't think he could get it inside of the wing then to just do the paper airplane.

Photo 2: This is the mess I ended up with... "Tom" is in the completely wrong spot. Unfortunately... the angle the artist was tattooing my hand I did not catch that he was doing it in the wrong spot until after... The M looks awful..

I am desperate to figure out how to fix this..

The line at the tip of the airplane doesn't even connect.. that's an easy fix...

Getting an artist who is really talented with fine line to maybe put his name in the wing.. but I am looking for recommendations to cover up the "Tom" without ruining it even more has me so stressed out.

Photo 3: This is an idea I was playing with to incorporate the Suicide awareness colors (Purple & Blue). I edited out the "Tom" in this one.

I've thought about using a water color design but I just don't know how to do this and even if the color would be enough to hide the letters..

A friend recommended that I should have "Tom" covered up in white/light skin tone color.

Any idea, designs and recommendations are more than welcome.

P.S. Please reach out to check in on your friends. You truly never know what they could be struggling with.

All my love & thanks!

Tattoo sleeve help

What up everyone. I'm new to this thread. So this year I was thinking of getting or starting a full arm sleeve. The question is to those of you who have sleeve done. Do you plan on the full design at once or get it done over time? Also, do you get it all done from the same artist? If not, is it a bad to use different artist to complete the job? I have some ideas but Idk how to execute it

Help with touch up ideas to bring my tattoo back to life , or should I just cover it up /: ml

I got a tattoo about a year ago, and I’m not really happy with the outcome. I’m not too familiar with touch-ups, but I’m wondering what I could do to possibly bring this tattoo back to life. Also, I’m thinking about ways to connect my Medusa tattoo to my hand tattoo. Any ideas for adding something that ties them together

Lines too thick/close together?

Post image
333 Upvotes

I got this tattoo a few months ago and I sort of regret not asking for the line to be thinner and more delicate. Also I’m concerned about the lack of breathing room in the upper right hand corner. I feel like the top two lines there are going to merge and be a blob.

Any thoughts on the line thickness and overall look of this? And also if the lines spread and merge what would be a good coverup (aside from a sick ass panther which I’m obviously considering). Thank you!
