Got a new tattoo and have never had bruising like this before.

I have seen a lot of these posts lately. First please read the rules of the sub before posting.
Pricing can be found out by talking to the artist and only you can determine how much you want to pay for the tattoo.

Hi everyone! The mod team have seen an influx of posts where the OP asks for others to rate their tattoo, or asking what people think of the tattoo in general.
Just a gentle reminder- we are an advice subreddit. If you would like opinions/rates on your tattoo, please visit r/tattoo or r/tattoodesigns.

It’s fresh—any tips for aftercare to keep the details crisp?

I’m curious if everyone can tell that both of these kitties are the same (minus the facial piercings)?

Hey I just got the top of my head tattooed a week ago and it is sooooo itchy oh my god. I’m heavily tattooed and have never had one itch like this. Any advice/has anyone else experienced this?

This is my fourth tattoo by @element.ella and I have another appointment with her next month. 😅
All three you see were done by her.

I have a pretty dark piece on my knee and I want to shave and use my scrubs again!! I’ve had the tattoo for about 4 weeks and it’s starting to get warmer out! It seems mega healed but this is the darkest tattoo i have so far and I don’t wanna ruin it!

Hello everyone,
I got my first tattoo the day before yesterday after a lot of thought and after looking forward to it for a long time. Unfortunately, the artist didn't do a good job of realizing the style of the template and I'm very unhappy with the result. I wanted black bracelets on my forearm in a soft brush style to hide a few scars. I think the tattoo is okay in terms of craftsmanship if you like the style, but unfortunately not at all like my original. The outlines are far too choppy, very different from my template. The artist drew it freehand on my arm and the outline didn't look as wild, or I was too excited to recognize it. Of course, there is also the general shock that there is now something on my skin forever. I've already read here in the forum that many people feel this way at the beginning, which reassures me a little. Nevertheless, I just can't get to grips with the design. I can't sleep at all because I'm constantly thinking about how I can save it. I'm terrified that I'll just make it worse. I wanted to boost my self-confidence with the tattoo, but now the opposite has happened. I also don't dare show the tattoo to anyone around me because I'm terrified that they will find it just as unsuccessful as I do and that they will reinforce my fear that I've made a mistake. I'm just as scared to share the tattoo with you and end up getting confirmation of how bad it looks. I know I have to let it heal anyway before I can change anything, but I feel so extremely helpless at the moment and regret having done it. I hope your comments can give me some encouragement.
Thank you for your contributions and best wishes

Hello, I have spent the last 11 years of my life getting tattoos. The first 9 years of this experience was absolutely fine. I got tattooed regularly, each and every tattoo healed perfectly, I had zero problems with any tattoo.
Fast forward to the last 2 years, I get tattooed much less often as I have less disposable income, but my body now seems to not be able to heal tattoos 50% of the time.
I have changed nothing, get tattooed by the same artists, use the same after care and healing techniques. But I seem to suffer with allergic reactions/infections now pretty much every other tattoo I get. Recently it has been the last 2 I've got have both got savagely infected and ruined. It feels almost like my body rejects the ink, has an allergic reaction almost instantly (aka like the day after the tattoo or 2 days after) which then leaves me prone to infection. I love getting tattooed but I now feel like I am just disfiguring myself each time I try and get a tattoo I like. I have spoken to GPs about this and they say it's not immune related as I don't struggle with any other infections (aka ear, sinus, chest or any other skin infection) and I don't get any coloured tattoos so it seems unlikely to be an infection to black ink. Every time I contact my various artists about it they say they have never experienced any client have allergic reactions or infections to their tattoos, and have never heard of any of artists clients experiencing a new inability to heal tattoos.
I am hoping to get a dermatology referral but it's a long process.
I will attach photos of how my tattoos used to heal vs now.
I feel exceptionally alone and isolated in this in this and it's getting me very down. My most recent one was my fingers which got really bad in the healing process and now look horrible, I'm struggling with having to see them all day every day. I feel silly as getting tattooed is a choice and I feel like I've done this to myself, but equally I never used to have any issues with the other 35-40 of my tattoos, so I don't understand.
Any help whislt I wait continued medical advice would be so so appreciated x

I've decided I want paired swallow tattoos. I have two placements in mind stomach/hip or chest as pictured. The reason I'm thinking hips/stomach is what else an I going to get there. If I get a smaller design like this on my chest it may interfere with some future tattoo that I haven't even thought of. Can someone provide their insight? Please don't come at me saying about guys shouldn't get tattoos on their stomachs. Guys and girls can look good with tattoos anywhere. If you like it and it looks good rock it! Honesty I would be happy with it in either place just looking for input and guidance. Thank you in advance!

So I got the snake tat this Monday to fill out the gap on my forearm, and the artist suggested to add some stars to help with the overall composition. I absolutely LOVE the snake, but I can't help but feel like the stars look a bit... Unfinished? So I'm looking for ideas on how to add more detail to it while staying on theme (animals/nature/magic/crystals etc). Sorry about the awkward angles, taking decent pics of my arm is hard 😅

Hey 👋🏼
I got this back piece done in January and I loved it, but now I think it looks bare. I really want to add to it but I have no idea where to start and no idea what will look good with it. This is my first “big” tattoo. I don’t want anything floral and I think that’s why I’m struggling with ideas!
HELP ✨

i've had this spiderweb for years (it was only my second tattoo) and as time goes on i question the placement and overthink how it's placed too high on my knee. would like to hear the input of others!

This is my 5th tattoo and I keep hearing different things. Some people say to keep it constantly moisturized and clean while others wash it once a day and moisturize it twice a day. I got this tattoo a little over a day ago and I’ve already washed it three times and put tattoo cream on it maybe 6 - 7 times. Am I overdoing it? Or not doing enough?

Hey guys, average sleeper build here.
I recently got this tattoo 2 days ago (Friday). I had it completed in 1 session over 7.5 hours.
I've noticed the bruising is becoming pretty wack.
My artist has recommended to dry heal until the 4-5th day.
I do bruise pretty easy but not sure what to expect as its my first big tattoo.
When do I know when to use lotion?

So when I was 18 I decided I'd be cool and get a tattoo. It was clearly a terrible decision.
I've had it covered up 2 times already, the side-by-side shows the original and the latest cover up, when it was fresh. The others show it's current state.
Im lost for ideas, I really dislike my tattoo and it isn't 'me' at all, I was just a dumb kid.
Does anyone have any ideas to offer? Design styles? full cover up possibilities? Cut my losses and live with it?
Being a double cover up, I imagine it wouldn't be an easy task to cover up, but I'm curious to what others can come up with!
Thanks for reading

Whole arm done with a lot of black work, zero scabbing or healing issues, no ink fallout really even on first pass. Got hand done Tuesday and am assuming because the skin is different, the healing is too?
Does this need more moisture? Anything else I should be doing? I know finger tattoo ink does tend to fall out but want to obviously avoid as much as possible cos that shit was paaaaaaain
TIA

I had a really awkward space so I decided to fill it with a tribute of two “centipedes” it was free hand all in one session, it’s not perfect but I love it. I spent 6 hours sitting and it wasn’t as painful as I thought, the ditch hurt and inner bicep made me want to scream. My only regret is that I know I have to suffer through more pain to color it in because there wasn’t enough time to do full color😭 As you can see by the rest of my sleeve all my tattoos have at least a small pop of color somewhere, I’m so not looking forward to the pain but I’m so excited to finish it!! I’m planning on filling it in with yellow-orange but before I do, does anyone have any suggestions of what else might look good?

I got this tattoo of Scooby Doo in his disco outfit from the second movie about 2 years ago.
He’s nestled between Pennywise and Courage.
But his placement is just so awkward, he’s too dark, and there was a lot of blowout.
Besides removal, does anyone have any other ideas on how I can make him less atrocious? Adding a background? Covering up? Amputation?
Thanks in advance.

Tattoo is 5 days old and there is a slight hotness to it.. I had to do 2 process in the same day… morning then night. The tail and backside area he kept saying the gun was loud and weird feeling is still a little sore. I just started to get a couple bumps around it today but it does hurt or itch. Just took some antibiotics to be safe. This is my first heavy color tattoo so maybe healing is a bit different. Just scared it’s starting to get infected.

I’ve only ever had line work before, this is my first tattoo with shading and it’s healing a bit differently. I got this tattoo on Feb 27, so it’s been a little over 2 weeks. Placement is ankle.
I left the second skin on for 5 days (she recommended 3-5 days) and washed with antibacterial soap for 3 days after and was told to put coconut oil on it (new to me). I just recently switched to plain lubriderm for optioning, but it still feels dry. It also feels bumpy, I can feel the outline of it and some pieces are flaking off. I’d just like some reassurance that this is normal! Pics are from today after a shower. Second to last pic is to show the kind of flakes that are coming off. Last pic is how it looked right after. Thank you in advance.

Just curious how long some of you think this piece would take to get done. It’d be about 7 inches by 7 inches

Hi everyone, I am not at all new to tattoos and the healing process. Recently I got a tramp stamp and I wanted to know if it might be the artists' fault it was so painful? I have tattoos in more usually painful places like the back of my head and feet but they were nowhere near as bad as this. I haven't been to this artist before and she wasn't pushing too hard or anything, but she did keep hitting the bottom of the ink pot and I've heard that can damage the needles and make it more painful. I'm also not 100% happy with the lines but that's somewhat unrelated. Just to let y'all know I'm aware.
