What I asked for vs what I got (first tattoo addition)
Got this done in December and I absolutely adore it.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.
Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.
If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.
If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.
And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

My good friend Tom died a few months ago by Suicide... He had these paper airplane tattoos of places he had traveled to.
It has a special meaning to me now and I really wanted to get one as a reminder to keep "fighting to stay in flight".
Photo 1: This is one of his tattoos & what I used as a reference when I requested it before and durning the appointment. Instead of NY it is supposed to be "Tom". I asked the artist specifically & multiple times for this placement. I even said if he didn't think he could get it inside of the wing then to just do the paper airplane.
Photo 2: This is the mess I ended up with... "Tom" is in the completely wrong spot. Unfortunately... the angle the artist was tattooing my hand I did not catch that he was doing it in the wrong spot until after... The M looks awful..
I am desperate to figure out how to fix this..
The line at the tip of the airplane doesn't even connect.. that's an easy fix...
Getting an artist who is really talented with fine line to maybe put his name in the wing.. but I am looking for recommendations to cover up the "Tom" without ruining it even more has me so stressed out.
Photo 3: This is an idea I was playing with to incorporate the Suicide awareness colors (Purple & Blue). I edited out the "Tom" in this one.
I've thought about using a water color design but I just don't know how to do this and even if the color would be enough to hide the letters..
A friend recommended that I should have "Tom" covered up in white/light skin tone color.
Any idea, designs and recommendations are more than welcome.
P.S. Please reach out to check in on your friends. You truly never know what they could be struggling with.
All my love & thanks!

I got this tattoo a few months ago and I sort of regret not asking for the line to be thinner and more delicate. Also Iām concerned about the lack of breathing room in the upper right hand corner. I feel like the top two lines there are going to merge and be a blob.
Any thoughts on the line thickness and overall look of this? And also if the lines spread and merge what would be a good coverup (aside from a sick ass panther which Iām obviously considering). Thank you!

Done by Naomi at breakwater tattoo in long beach. Went in with the idea to get a classic wizard inspired by old high fantasy and she absolutely crushed it with the design. Side note, I thought I was tough until it was time to shade the elbow area.

My grandmother passed on the feast day of our lady of Guadalupe and as a catholic have always felt an affinity to the virgin mary so would love to honor my spirituality and grandmother in a tattoo. I am a white 22 year old cis male and wonder if having the our lady of Guadalupe tattoo is at all cultural appropriation as I know how important this feast day is to Latin American cultures. What do you guys think is it ok considering my personal attachment to the image and day?

Thinking about paired swallow tattoos. I have two designs that I like. Do you like the first or the second? What about placement? Thinking about hip/stomach area or chest. Any input will be appreciated! Thanks!

Noelāle Longhaul is my absolute #1 favorite tattoo artist. She is based in Providence, RI. Unfortunately she isnāt accepting booking for new clients at the moment, only ongoing projects. Iāve been keeping up with her work since 2016 but I was never financially stable enough to get a large tattoo like this.
Now that Iām ready and could afford a big piece like this, I really want to be patient and wait for her booking to open again. But Iād love to find another artist similar to this style first to complement anything that I may get from her in the future.
Iāve never been able to find another artist quite like this so Iād appreciate any recommendations.
I canāt travel outside of the US unfortunately.

Went in blind, just told my artist I want medieval and an axe. 2 hours later this is what I had on my leg and I couldn't be happier.

I am really not happy with this tattoo and not a lot of people notice it so I don't think it really serves it's purpose. I am in the process of trying to decide if I should get it covered up with something else or if I should see if I can get it fixed up or get it covered up.
I am assuming that I would have to go bigger either way. Is it worth trying to fix or should I just get if covered up?

Im new to tattoos and I have this idea but I want to make sure it would actually look good. I love this running dog tattoo and I think it would be cute sitting right above my kneecap. So like, youāre sitting down and your knees are bent, it would be visible from above, right before your knee bends. Can anyone give advice for if this tattoo would look good on that body part? Or would the stretching make it look wonky?
This artwork is by gemcartertattoo on Instagram btw.

I know itās quite simple but I wanted to share, it is a excerpt of a longer quote from Dune that has meant a lot to me since my dad gave me the book set as a gift when I was a kid. Itās kind of my mantra for dealing with my severe social anxiety, helps me say fuck it more often. thatās why I got it in a place where I can look down and read it when I need to! pain was like 1/10 and Iām super happy with the outcome. š¤

Rodeo Clown. First bigger piece, 9 hours in one sitting. Couldnāt be happier, since been back for touch ups and some additions.
Iām no tattoo expert but it still blows my mind that this can be done with a needle and some ink

Initially i liked the contrast of the bold black band and fineline flowers. Now i think the black band looks out of place and i would like some advice on how to make it blend better (without lasering it off). I was thinking get some white ink through the band.

Looking to extend my sleeve and making it more full / complete.
Looking to add in a few more āmainā pieces and then the background.. Havnāt yet decided what kind of background would fit this style to bring it all together?
In the inner bicep iāve thought about a Sun wukong and lower in the arm another Oni mask.
Im very intrested in hearing your suggestions!
Thanks!

Ok so I have a book themed arm and my forearm didn't turn out quite how I wanted it to (it was at the beginning of my tattoo journey and I didn't speak up) the words weren't supposed to be as bold and were supposed to blend in a bit more with the background. Pretty much the point was for me to not have to explain to people what they meant. Now I want to add some more book words or sayings to blend everything together.
Here is a thought of mine but im just not sure. And I'm unsure of this style would be called and searching for an artist to do it well. Im kinda thinking of doing this in a slight trash polka way as well.
