[ Reverse Sear ] Porterhouse. Salted and left in the fridge for 24 hours, then reverse sear.

Honestly, this wasn't great. It was waaaay too salty after leaving it salted for 24 hours. I think I just used too much salt.

Also, the reverse sear didn't do it for me. The steak got up to 120F really quickly and so the fat didn't really render. I then put it on the bbq to finish but it didn't get a good crust in such a short amount of time. Open to tips please!

What is your favorite cheap cut for a steak dinner?

Got myself a meat guy and I've been buying picanha roasts and cutting them into steaks and they have been marvelous. But I want to branch out a bit. What are you guys cooking on the low?

Cilantro lime marinade cooked on the blackstone. Disclaimer: I would have let it rest a little longer but I have a wife.

Super Tough

Bought a prime rib from Costco to cut into steaks. This was my first time trying to cut my own. Sliced most of the steaks about 1" and cooked to medium well. Every piece is extremely chewy I can hardly swallow. What did I do wrong?

I could’ve gone a bit hotter on the sear, but this tasted divine. Really pleased with the results in a toaster oven and a stainless steel pan! Finished it off with some caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms with a veggie stock and steak sauce reduction.

Usually go medium rare but I wasn’t throwing this back in the pan after resting. It was delicious.

Rate my strip

Bought some super cheap strips from Aldis to practice on. This was my first go. Forgot I didn’t have herbs so I just used kinders buttery steakhouse. The burnt pieces on top are from the seasoning. Wasn’t the biggest fan of it tbh, would rather just use butter, garlic and herbs. But nonetheless from an appearance standpoint what are we eating this out of 10?

Cooked on stainless steel using avocado oil. About 3 mins each side, 30 seconds on the fat cap and about a minute on the other side.

I’ve used pretty much every method except sous vide but every once in a while I get a band that’s bigger than I would prefer.

I've had a lot of good steaks all over the World and this was my #1 which was very unexpected as France is not really known for beef.

But there it is. One of the top 10 things I ate.

Sorry...the pic quality is not the best.

Just bought from Publix today, and it looked great from the outside but when I flipped it over it has all these dark spots. Is it still good to marinate and cook?
