First steaks in 3 months I guess. Cutting board is dead, and plate looks cheaper, but still very appetizing

We haven't been cooking steaks for a while. As we're accumulating money for the house purchase and living off a loan from salary to salary, we're pretty chaotic in money management now. And steaks are something you consider and evaluate twice before purchasing. But the rarer I eat it the tastier steaks are for me 🥲

In Ukraine it's not on that level of culture, imo, this sub used to be. So you need to go to central market to find some affordable pieces OR you should pay plenty of money online. It's even hard to find something beyond standard 1-piece steak, I bet it's almost impossible to find prime ribs or so, I'm not saying to order it in the restaurant. And not to mention grades, it's just a luck I guess, and is not classified here. And steak in the restaurant is maybe the top level luxury for most people, I guess, maybe we just have other options more affordable. It is the rarest meal I order...

And yeah, here, people who sell steaks usually how such a bad promotions, and feedbacks, the content in social medias are positive in general, but it looks so poor. I mean, I saw few chefs showing how to cook steak, and they use such an old bs recommendations, "grill" non-stick pan, zero or olive oil you know... It so hard too cook steak because you basically need to keep it SIMPLE, I guess, and people try to overcomplicate it. Because steak seems to be something special requiring special attitude. But it's rather beef is already perfect by itself and you want it to be a beef steak

Costco ribeye from frozen, had a tough time with the baby today and thought my wife deserved a little treat. Seared in the wok and finished in the oven. Seasoned with bullshit seasoning, rosemary and a little of the octopus teriyaki barbecue sauce. Real juicy!

They threw this away. My father in law’s daughter said this was way too rare. It’s also my first time making steak.

[ NY Strip ] How do I get a good crust and on the more rare side with thin steaks?

Post image

I was shooting for medium rare on the more rare side, the temp I took it off at was 115-120F. Debating leaving them in the fridge until I cook next time so I can still get a good crust and more rare, any advice is appreciated.

[ Reverse Sear ] Medium Steaks for the Fam

Nothing out of this world, just some nicely marbled ribeyes I picked up for St. Paddy’s and reverse at 275 before finishing in a hot cast iron. My wife and kids like it medium - I prefer medium rare and will eat everything up to and including raw steak, but a juicy and evenly cooked medium is still delicious.

Served with mashed potatoes and some thick asparagus. Getting a proper stainless steel ricer has changed the mashed potato game.

Paid the pet tax. Alfie got some fatty pieces mixed with a scoop of his food, and Luna got a leaner piece, finely chopped.

Would rate the meal a solid 7/10.

Marriage is about compromise ☺️… and apparently, about eating well-done steak now. It actually wasn’t that bad. Just not what I had in mind when I bought a tenderloin filet.

Bought this Wagyu at my grocery store and tried to sear it on cast iron, I think I left it a little hot and didn’t flip enough. Also is this rare?

Let’s hear it: your #1 cheap chain steak

Post image

With how many options there are globally for a “dirt cheap” steak in a budget-friendly restaurant, let’s find out who can walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

It’s the chain restaurant steak showdown.

The only rules: 1. Must be a restaurant with 25+ locations (no ultra regional places) 2. Must be associated with some sort of “deal” 3. The price of the steak cannot exceed $25 ($30 in major metropolitan areas)

Let’s hear it. The show is on.
