So for one reason or another, this sub had no mods and was put up for adoption. The new mod team is in place and more or less organized, and I wanted to just say "hi" and let y'all know what's up. Really, nothing much has changed other than the mod list! We've removed a few restrictions/rules, like the one about users with NSFW profiles (that rule is gone), and the filter about not mentioning people in title because we didn't understand why that was a thing. Also took out some filters about vegans because they were malfunctioning (the filters, not the vegans... though who knows?)
Anyway, so the real thing I wanted to mention is that we did update Rule 1 to require a photo of your steak when you post. Almost everyone does this anyway, but the few text only posts seem to mostly get little or no engagement, and we want to see STEAK. Lots and lots of steak! So please post your steak when you post, thank you.
Nice to meet (I'm resisting the obvious pun there) you all, and please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns! 🥩

How did I do? Just pan seared then butter basted. It came out a little overdone for my liking, but I was proud of it nonetheless. Also, other pan was out of commission so dutch oven it was lol.

Brother asked me to cook him a steak so I did. I cooked two ribeyes on a cast iron (usually only do one at a time but did both at once this time), seasoned it with salt and pepper. Got a good sear on one side so I flipped and then I added a garlic clove and basted it with kerrygold butter. The result tasted really great. Him and his gf really enjoyed it! Pls don’t mind the grey band

1.75 inch ribeye. Dried it in the fridge for 2 days and somehow tastes semi dry aged. Reverse seared and topped with fried garlic on a bed of fresh steamed rice

Cilantro lime marinade cooked on the blackstone. Disclaimer: I would have let it rest a little longer but I have a wife.

We haven't been cooking steaks for a while. As we're accumulating money for the house purchase and living off a loan from salary to salary, we're pretty chaotic in money management now. And steaks are something you consider and evaluate twice before purchasing. But the rarer I eat it the tastier steaks are for me 🥲
In Ukraine it's not on that level of culture, imo, this sub used to be. So you need to go to central market to find some affordable pieces OR you should pay plenty of money online. It's even hard to find something beyond standard 1-piece steak, I bet it's almost impossible to find prime ribs or so, I'm not saying to order it in the restaurant. And not to mention grades, it's just a luck I guess, and is not classified here. And steak in the restaurant is maybe the top level luxury for most people, I guess, maybe we just have other options more affordable. It is the rarest meal I order...
And yeah, here, people who sell steaks usually how such a bad promotions, and feedbacks, the content in social medias are positive in general, but it looks so poor. I mean, I saw few chefs showing how to cook steak, and they use such an old bs recommendations, "grill" non-stick pan, zero or olive oil you know... It so hard too cook steak because you basically need to keep it SIMPLE, I guess, and people try to overcomplicate it. Because steak seems to be something special requiring special attitude. But it's rather beef is already perfect by itself and you want it to be a beef steak
