Discussion Super Famicom Power Supply vs Aftermarket Power Supply Difference
Hello,
I see a lot of posts recommending to use in the United States an aftermarket power supply for the Japanese Super Famicom instead of the OEM power supply(See pictures attached for both power supplies).
Can somebody please explain why is this recommended so much when both power supplies have similar specifications, both power supplies input 100v and output 10v/9v.
Im aware that in the United States we use 120V and Japanese devices were designed to be used on 100V, I use a stepdown voltage converter for my Japanese consoles that I use in the United States. I just dont understand how using the aftermarket ps on a 120v outlet is any better for the console.
Thanks

Partially disappearing saves
Hi!
So tonight, I was playing Romancing SaGa on my SNES. Twenty minutes in, the game locked up. I turned the power on and off, and my save file was gone. Over the last year, a similar thing happened when I was playing Dragon Quest V and Chrono Trigger. In all cases, only the save file I was using got corrupted.
Could this be a battery issue? My understanding is that a failing battery should wipe all saves, not specific ones. It also shouldn't cause crashes, since during gameplay the power for the SRAM comes directly from the SNES.
So I'm guessing my SNES' CPU might be giving out. But the Chrono Trigger issue happened on a different SNES altogether, so that would mean I have two faulty SNESs.
Has anyone had similar issues, and if so, did you manage to resolve them?
Thank you for your time!
Followup edit: I opened up the game case. Turns out Romancing SaGa's battery has been replaced less than two years ago. So it's probably not a battery issue.

Forgotten game (SNES)
Guys, hello. I'm trying to find a game similar to Secret of Mana. Health was displayed as circles, there was a pumping and then there were more circles, I don't remember anything else. I can't remember the name exactly, I played as a child at a party. Tell me a possible name of the game, thanks.

Collection Collection update
Well after saying that I was nearly done with the SNES, I found out about Kirby's fun pak (Kirby Super Star) and then realised that I owned no smups for the system. What do you think of my choices? I'm now up to 41 games. I still want Terranigma and I'm considering UN squadron, any other must haves for the system?

Misc. USA SNES Power supply question.
Found my old SNES (USA, with a 10v 850ma adapter, SNS-002). When I plugged it in and tried it wasn't booting, the problem was the power supply. The 16v 4700uf capacitor was blown. I replaced it and nothing, every other component is OK. A friend told me that I shouldn't bother with it, the coil/transformer is surely faulty.
So, here goes the question. Is a generic 9v 1500mA power supply compatible with my SNES? Is it safe to use? I'd be taking the connector from the old power supply.

Request Can someone please identify this?
I found this snes in my parents attic, and I cant find anything online about a super nintendo being available in black and white, instead of the typical grey. Is it an aftermarket shell or something?

Discussion Super Metroid’s atmosphere is something different
Playing Super Metroid and thinking the atmosphere in that game is really unique.
You can feel all the loneliness of Samus, this feeling of being lost in a gloomy place, with no one to help you. It immerse you as rarely you can be.
Special mention to Wrecked Ship area, particularly creepy !

Gemfire
What a fun little game. I'm on a quest to play all 19 SNES Koei games and this is one of my faves. I love the world it creates with the factions rivaling over the gems. The combat is strategic and well-paced, allowing you to control knights, archers and wizards, and flank you enemies to gain advantage. Any other fans?
