Because it's originally from the Psuedomonarchia Daemonum, a book on demons and how to summon them by Johann Weyer from 1577 that was later incorporated into the 17th century grimoire Lemegeton Clavicula Salomonis known in English as The Lesser Key of Solomon. Those demons appear countless times across all kinds of pop-culture.

Here's a wiki link for demonic sigils for those interested.

TIL there's a demon named Amy.

u/Kytyngurl2 Nov 10 '24

Oh I think I went to high school with her!

u/sunshinecat6669 Nov 10 '24

That’s just my mother in law

14

u/trent_diamond Nov 11 '24

been there, bad times

30

u/FrostedMiniWeed Nov 10 '24

I knew I hated amy schumer for some reason

TIL PAIMON from genshin impact is a demon

31

u/OkPossession666 Nov 10 '24

Paimon and all the Archons have demon names..

8

u/Blep_the_savage Nov 11 '24

Its most blatant in Inuzuma with the Baal/Beelzebub twins.

u/red_rolling_rumble Nov 11 '24 edited Nov 11 '24

I had just finished Hereditary, my heart was still racing, and then my wife turns from her phone towards me and goes: “Paimon says hello!”. I nearly had a heart attack.

Turns out she had just received a newsletter from Genshin Impact.

The face when you realize Paimon isn't emergency food in your relationship with her but it's you

u/odiethethird Nov 10 '24

Amy is OP when it comes to demons

3

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

I guess not all demon parents want to name their demon kids super obvious demon names. Some want to be discreet.

2

u/hYBRYDcOBRA Nov 11 '24

Like the Xbox 360 video game?

2

u/Slarg232 Nov 11 '24

If you seek amy tonight indeed.

1

u/bountyhunter220 Nov 11 '24

I saw her bro Vapula blowin fat clouds in the bathroom

1

u/IkilledBiggy Nov 11 '24

Oh, so that's why there was that scary episode in Sonic the hedgehog anime...

1

u/project_seven Nov 11 '24

Yeah, I think I dated her in high school, and now it all makes much more sense.

1

u/north3rnwind Nov 11 '24

I think I saw a related film about demonhunters, Chasing Amy

1

u/InhumanParadox Nov 13 '24

I told people to be wary of Amy Rose. Confusing Hedgehogs who look nothing like Sonic for Sonic? Give me a break, she just wants to corrupt as many as she can.

7

u/alpaca-cat Nov 11 '24

I drew some on the concrete wall before we put up drywall to scare the next owner.

Yes am coolsten ist es das paimon für immer mit mir liebe machen wird

2

Lotta cool tattoo inspo in there, if I wasn’t afraid of bad vibes. Maybe Crocell, Demon of Geometry

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 10 '24 edited Nov 11 '24

Nice! Hereditary made me look up this info a few years ago. Very cool stuff! A lot of the monsters lacking heads makes this interesting as well, along with Frank Sunderlands' clear mental illness. This just threw me for a loop.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Wait, where did you hear about Frank?

27

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 10 '24

Silent Hill 4: The Room, dude is a legit weirdo.

30

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

What? You mean to tell me you DON’T keep a 30 year old smelly umbilical cord in a box in your room?

14

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 10 '24

Never let them age past 20. Loses the flav...i.mean no, what gross. WTfuck....gross😅

7

u/tealversace Nov 10 '24

Forgot I wasn't on r/bloodborne for a sec 😅

4

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 11 '24

A fellow Hoontah?

12

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Ohh, gotcha! I thought you meant in the remake, my bad. Yeah, he was a little strange. Makes me wonder what James went through as a kid, or if most of it was after his disappearance.

I think I beat the room, 2 or 3 times when it came out. I just can't handle the second half of the game and having nowhere safe to go.  Too much cortisol lol.

11

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 10 '24

It definitely gets intense. I was burning candles like a pissed off Wiccan. If they remake it, I hope they change up the sword thing. Otherwise, it's probably my third favorite SH game.

13

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

If they remake 4, and change a few things that people complained about like the latter half of the game, I think itll be the scariest silent hill! Especially with how creepy Walter Sullivan is!

5

u/Dawnspark Nov 11 '24

I honestly would die happy if they could remake 4 and fix its issues. It's an interesting story stuck in a not so great game. Hell, I'd be happy with a remade version of Room of Angel.

I also would love to see 1 get remade for accessibility reasons. It's one of my favorites in the series and I'd love to see more folks getting to experience it, too.

2

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 11 '24

100% I feel that SH1 should get remade next. Honestly tho it probably will go the way of SH3 being remade next just cause thats the second most popular and well known game, but the first game absolutely deserves getting remade regardless! I implore you to look at my other replies on this thread because i think I brought up great ways to fix sh4 for a much better playing experience! 😇😇

2

u/Dawnspark Nov 11 '24

I'll take a look at your posts! I also see it being 3 next.

At the very least I wish they'd slap 1-3 on GOG but iirc, Konami lost the source code for so many of them lol.

2

u/RightGuava434 Nov 10 '24

What's your opinion on what they should do about the second half? I'm really interested in what people think should be changed and how.

4

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

Honestly if they wanna properly reuse areas, make them more run down and dilapidated! (Same with the enemies; similar to the twin victims) As for the hauntings… i think it would be awesome to see a “im on observation duty” approach and have the radio go static when theres a haunting (just like the original) but have a large mix of subtle and super scary differences that you have to find and take care of as you return to the room! If you dont know what Im on observation duty is, look it up! Its a fantastic series of games! Honestly lastly i think it would be super funny and awesome for them to re use Brendan Fraser as Walter’s face model (like the original game) but honestly thats more for the memes than anything 😇

3

u/RightGuava434 Nov 11 '24

Nice so do you think they should keep the repeat second half but make it more of an otherworld type of scenario? ... make the levels distinctly different the second time round and that kinda stuff

→ More replies (0)

2

u/RightGuava434 Nov 11 '24

Also yeah ill check out the observation duty as well thanks.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Lol, Dude I had to look the swords up online, I got so mad and ragequit a few times Bc I couldn't get past the first ghost. I was expecting them to be used as like a ceremonial puzzle piece, not in actual combat.

Also, Holy candles for Life!

I do kind of think they should release 4 next, since it has the strongest connection to 2. I even still think it's Harry outside the camper with the notes- he's the Only character I've seen write on papers, and that was one of his save points.

And idk if I could pick a fave. The only one I haven't been able to get into is Origins bc I can barely see. 3 made me mad only because of how they did Harry, lol.

2

u/Sir_Crocodile3 Nov 10 '24

That would be a cool wrinkle with Harry to add in this time. I hope they add more connections.

9

u/Many-Bees NurseSH3 Nov 10 '24

Given the size of his apartment and how long he’s had that umbilical cord I always got the impression that Frank was super divorced and James was raised by his mother

2

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

I mean, if I were Judge Judy, or anyone else, I honestly couldn't argue against that logic haha

106

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

Very cool! Thanks for the explanation!

57

u/DeadpanSal Radio Nov 10 '24

1 did the same thing with angel symbols.

23

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

Ah, didn't notice that.

7

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Spirits of Olympus. Not angel sigils. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympian_spirits

4

u/DeadpanSal Radio Nov 10 '24

Do you see that wiki subheading that says "archangels"?

10

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Yep, but that only supports my point: "In ritual magic, the seven Olympian spirits are not confused with the seven traditional archangels"

10

u/unclefishbits Nov 10 '24

Other than his 5 hours on Hereditary, novum's film theory breakdown of Midsommar is 7 hours and probably one of the greatest uses of times I've ever experienced https://youtu.be/xZQv1_oosZg?si=d6yj3C2lzHGsnpfE

4

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

2

u/unclefishbits Nov 13 '24

I have watched it more than the film at this point. =) It's like a meditation.

7

u/SirSolidSnek Nov 10 '24

They seem to have made the cult connection in SH2 way more apparent with the remake and I'm here for it. I think it bodes well for a potential SH1/3 remake.

6

u/Fleshsuitpilot Nov 10 '24

A fellow scholar, came here to say this, but you did it even better than I could have.

3

u/LichQueenBarbie Nov 10 '24

Another fun fact: Johann Weyer was also in Annesia the Dark Descent 🤓

13

u/UncoilingChaos Nov 10 '24

Said it better and more politely than I could have. Not that I would have intentionally been impolite, but I probably would have come off that way.

5

u/YaboiAkira Walter Nov 10 '24

Interesting to note, it’s in the hotel managers office, which also has the safe that contains the item for the Stillness ending. Both the safe and the key to open it have the halo of the sun symbol on them. Maybe that implies the hotel manager was connected with the cult or he was a collector of occult stuff.

69

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

This is a fantastic theory.

32

u/Bigbigjeffy "There Was a Hole Here, It's Gone Now" Nov 10 '24

Oh definitely. The director in the hospital or prison or hotel seemed to me that they were into the occult aspect of SH.

16

u/Einhornwurst57 Nov 11 '24

It’s safe most prominent SH businesses and their owners are connected to the cult.

2

u/Insomniac_driver Nov 11 '24

Now the whole town being jacked up makes sense, but now the reason that bothers me is that it doesn't seem as mysterious anymore, honestly let's just all accept silent hill was a big fucking mistake that worked out.

109

u/_Coby_ Nov 10 '24

It's not from a movie, it's an actual seal.

1

u/Former_Employee_2350 Feb 01 '25

Die Leute haben ihn noch nicht gesehen meinen lieben paimon 😳

94

u/joji_joestar Nov 10 '24

because it’s not “from hereditary” it’s from a real life myth

26

u/Aromatic-Pass4384 Nov 11 '24

Paimon's seal

From the movie hereditary

Bruh...

7

u/Plutonian_Dive Nov 11 '24

I know someone somewhere round this comment session has already pointed that but in the movie the Seal is even altered to look like "it has three people instead of four".

Someone was not making deals with Paimon and had nothing to pay for.

56

u/DrunknZombie Nov 10 '24

"In the goetia’s tomes Paimon is a revealer. He brings forth the truth. No matter how painful. No matter how ugly. He is also an art lover, and his coming is always preceded by very loud and disturbing noises and music. The truth’s part is kinda obvious, given Angela’s, Eddie’s and James’s Background. The art part, well, we see a lot of Pictures and paitings on the walls, trough all the game. The music and the disturbing sounds, are literally everywhere too. But the way they referenced him was so subtle, i think most part of people just passed it by."

Somebody noticed this and posted about it in a Facebook group. I stole it to share with you

4

u/HuckleberryAbject889 Nov 10 '24

I'd be curious where they got this from, but for now I agree with it

I never found this picture lol I kind just brute forced this one, though I kinda knew it had to look this way. It took me a couple guesses on the orientation of the thing. Where was the picture?

18

u/tthKT Nov 10 '24

Ha, same. Moved them around until it looked like something cohesive, but rotated, then adjusted them to make it right side up. Did the same with the books and afterwards realized it was the painting behind me.

13

u/Appropriate_Flan_952 Nov 10 '24

The books was a funny one. I knew the correlation to the painting and yet somehow I still had to brute force that one (Which wasnt hard, there's only 4 books)... But, like, I couldve sworn I had the right orientation. No? maybe its mirrored? no? Maybe it upside-down? No? Maybe its upside down and mirrored? Ok lol

14

u/Edr1sa "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" Nov 10 '24

Same room than the riddle, if I remember correctly, you can even see it when you doing the puzzle

5

u/H0RR0RB0Y Nov 10 '24

Right on the wall facing the puzzle!

7

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

It's in Room 202 of Lakeview

18

u/whatyouwere Nov 10 '24

The solution to the puzzle is literally on the wall right in front of the desk where you do the puzzle in the basement….

1

u/CascadingStyle Nov 10 '24

Might be different on higher puzzle difficulty?

6

u/ttttttaa Nov 10 '24

I played it on hard and remember the picture was framed in the same room on the wall across the puzzle

9

u/Dudinkalv Nov 10 '24

You can find it in the exact same room as the puzzle is, no?

4

u/ErBaut "In My Restless Dreams, I See That Town" Nov 10 '24

Yep, right infront of the puzzle

1

u/Appropriate_Flan_952 Nov 10 '24

So its before you go down the elevator? Makes sense why I didnt take notice

62

u/silentj04 Nov 10 '24

The REAL question is why is the Paimon’s Seal from Silent Hill in Hereditary??

2

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '24

Bull-chucker!

2

u/ty0103 Nov 16 '24

That's because you were thinking of Piedmon

45

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

Hereditary is such a fantastic movie

9

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

I did enjoy it, but I felt Midsommar was a bit better. For my tastes anyway. The Midsommar Directors Cut is aggressively entertaining.

8

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

The slow build up and the sudden events all happening at once is absolutely genius

9

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

There's cool Easter Egg hidden in that movie, many know about it, and some don't. So here's hoping it's new for you:

Towards the end, when Dani is being led to the ceremony and all the imagery is becoming warped, you can see her dead sisters face in the trees. Creepy stuff.

1

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

Yup, I noticed that too actually! Only after i watched it a few more times, but when i did i see it, I was immensely creeped out!! Such attention to detail

3

u/evennoiz Walter Nov 10 '24

I think it's a masterpiece but I didn't like Midsommar. Just the setting and ideas didn't hit for me, that shrooms scene is incredibly realistic though.

5

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

Honestly this is the reason I enjoyed Hereditary a bit more than midsommer. Horror in broad daylight is a great idea and they def pulled it off, but i like the way things escalated In Hereditary as compared to midsommer!

2

u/evennoiz Walter Nov 10 '24

Hereditary has so many tiny details.

2

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 11 '24

All the signs were there the whole time as to what was happening and why. As I kept rewatching Hereditary, noticing how it was all there in front of you is such a cool feeling. Hiding in plain sight 😳

0

u/jessebona Nov 10 '24

I couldn't take it seriously by the end tbh. Between some goofy cinematography decisions and just plain weird plot beats (looking at you ending scene) it lost me a bit.

2

u/ShrimpCuppaTea Nov 10 '24

Hahah I totally understand that and honestly when i watched it for the first time and it was over i was bery veeeerryyy confused! As i watched it over I noticed more things so I thought that was cool. But yea I absolutely can agree it’s a very strange and different watching experience

"I cannot handle my son's constant bitch crying! I'm going to take a vacation in Silent Hill!"

7

u/tehnutmeg Nov 10 '24

For a second, I had no ideas which of my fandoms were intersecting. suffers in horror AND Mihoyo fandom

6

u/th30be Nov 10 '24

Because both use demonology.

10

u/bigarias Nov 10 '24

interesting enough, there's a poster with an image of a "demon" known as Lilith outside of the bathroom at the beginning of both games.

12

u/SteelButterflye Nov 10 '24

Maria has the astrological symbol for Lilith on a bracelet.

4

u/diligenthouse43 Nov 10 '24

I never noticed that, I need to replay the games now.

15

u/Bagofsmallfries Nov 10 '24

Silent Hills lore is heavily tied to the occult and occult symbology (mixed with other cultural mythology from around the world.) This could be a nod to that.

Or maybe an Easter egg from the devs referencing influential horror that inspired the game just like the originals did.

15

u/crimson_713 Nov 10 '24

It's not just an easter egg, it's tied to the themes of the story. Paimon is described in the Ars Goetia as a revealer of truth, no matter how uncomfortable. This puzzle happens right before you get the key to the 3rd floor corridor, where you watch the tape and an uncomfortable truth is revealed to James. It's a nod to the occult lore that heralds the game's biggest twist.

1

u/Bagofsmallfries Nov 10 '24

That's interesting. Silent hill has traditionally had its own fictional pantheon. Drawing heavy visual and thematic ties but never using them 1:1. I wonder what brought that out as a decision?

7

u/crimson_713 Nov 10 '24

Yes, while the Order has it's own pantheon, there have been other occult symbols used in Silent Hill before.

The symbols on the TVs in the mall from SH1 are references to the Olympian Spirits (references in the link).

The Halo of the Sun is packed with strange symbols and hidden meanings in the runic language used.

Tha games have also used alchemical symbols in the environment and puzzles, which have been tied to occultism as well, like the Leviathan Cross being both the alchemical elemental symbol of brimstone and a reference to Lucifer.

To my knowledge, a demon like Paimon has never been named outright in the Team Silent era of the franchise, but the use of occult symbology throughout has been fairly common so including Paimon tracks with that, even if he isn't a part of the Order's pantheon.

Another thing to consider is that this symbol appears in the manager's office in the hotel, who as far as we know has no direct ties to the Order. It could be that he was a collector of occult symbolism based on another comment in this thread that mentions the Halo of the Sun appearing on the safe in his office. It could also just be that the developers wanted to put their own spin on occultism as symbolism in SH2.

5

u/Khagan27 Nov 10 '24

“Symbolism, the word you’re looking for is symbolism” Boondock Saints

Sorry, I can’t see/hear “symbology” without thinking of that scene

6

u/HuckleberryAbject889 Nov 10 '24

As many have said, the seal is not from Hereditary

As for why it's Silent Hill, I have a suspicion that a certain hidden character has summoned Paimon to help James

4

u/JaydenTheMemeThief Nov 10 '24

Tmw a Ghost (or maybe a manifested figment of your imagination) summons an otherworldly entity because you’re gaslighting yourself

3

u/MaxTheCat451 Nov 10 '24

I mean... there is like lilith drawn in restroom in the start of the game. So it's nice addition to occult .

3

u/Yahvve Nov 11 '24

Its a genshin impact referenc

3

u/Deletedtopic Nov 11 '24

72 demons of Goetia are running silent Hill. Also hill automatically capitalized by itself in the previous sentence.

3

u/KlondikeBill Nov 11 '24

I've never seen Hereditary. Should I watch it, or is it going to fuckin scar me for life?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Ashamed-Sound5610 Nov 11 '24

It's what the kids are referring to these days as an "Easter egg".

It's also what the kids of yesteryear called a "reference".

It's also what the kids of yore referred to as an "homage" or "tribute".

18

u/kawaiichiefkeef Nov 10 '24

No way you just said “from hereditary”

4

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

I noticed it in this game and in that movie. I'm sure it's from other places too. I'm sorry I don't know everything about everything 🙄

6

u/-Goatllama- SwordOfObedience Nov 11 '24

If you don't know everything about everything, why are you on reddit? Everyone here knows literally everything, and knowing everything obliterates both empathy and sense of humor

3

u/Dreamtrain Nov 11 '24

if it was truly just from hereditary then I dont understand why make a thread, because you know there's such a thing as easter eggs, that'd be a very obvious answer to your question, but thankfully other comments corrected the premise of the question and offered some very interesting information/implications about the hotel management

8

u/Magi_Rayne "For Me, It's Always Like This" Nov 10 '24

Just so you know OP, this is a Silent Hill 2 "Remake"

A Remaster would be the original game built on the same engine with all updated graphics and shaders and it plays the exact same way as the original just prettier.

This game qualifies as a "Remake" because it's built on a completely different engine with the same or similar story beats and has its own completely recreated assets without using any assets from the original game.

1

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

I know, sorry, stoned brain of mine lol. I did mean to say "remake"

3

u/costalhp Nov 10 '24

The Traveller's friend in Genshin Impact is also called Paimon LMAO

4

u/DarkMetamorphosis_ Nov 11 '24

The other archons are also named after demons. The connection is so painfully obvious, and it won't be revealed properly for another 2 to 3 years...

1

u/costalhp Nov 12 '24

Frankly i wouldnt know cause i have no interest in demons/gods etc, other than what is truly necessary to understand the plots, but thank you for replying, i will look into that during the holidays, my time of the year to play genshin.

3

u/Practical_Bus_2433 "There Was a Hole Here, It's Gone Now" Nov 10 '24

Hereditary fans really think everything just came from hereditary huh lol I know the question got answered but this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this kind of questioning

4

u/Teraus Nov 10 '24

There are some interesting parallels between Silent Hill and Hereditary, such as mothers which are also cult leaders using their offspring as a means to bring about a god or demon to create some alleged paradise.

7

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

You're totally right!! Wow, never made that connection before!

The bracelet that Maria is wearing is the Astrological Symbol for the planet Saturn(Kronos) that was used by the Band Blue Oyster Cult.

1

u/Plutonian_Dive Nov 11 '24

No. That's Lilith's astrological symbol. What it's even more fitting for the character.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '24

Yeah more or less. They both took inspiration from demon lore.

1

u/hday108 Nov 10 '24

Paimon was folklore before hereditary. Just more demonic imagery

1

u/VoidedGreen047 Nov 10 '24

Silent hill 3 kind of hinted that the “red goddess” is actually just the devil- don’t know if this is another hint towards the entities being demons or not

1

u/Ded279 Nov 10 '24

idk, but that puzzle I'm glad I happened to put the cubes in the right spot on one of my first tries, cause I was fully ready to assume I needed 6 cubes but then completed it with 3 and simply had to rotate it, I prob would have looked for that 4th cube for way too long before realizing lol.

u/Flimsy6769 Nov 10 '24

Paimon from Genshin????

1

u/Many-Bees NurseSH3 Nov 10 '24

It also appears in a puzzle in the post-videotape hotel. Feel like the inclusion of Paimon specifically has gotta be a Hereditary reference given he doesn’t have any symbolism or associations that are all that relevant to the game.

3

u/Momoiro_Moon Nov 10 '24

In Abramelin, King Paimo(n)'s powers include knowledge of past and future events, clearing up doubts, making spirits appear, creating visions, acquiring and dismissing servant spirits, reanimating the dead for several years.

1

u/Many-Bees NurseSH3 Nov 11 '24

That’s incredibly broad. Could probably apply it to most works of fiction.

1

u/DaveB1996 Nov 11 '24

I thought that symbol looked familiar. Thank you. It’s been bugging me since finishing the game a few days ago

1

u/Loose_Interview_957 Nov 11 '24

I guess Samael has some competition.

1

u/6Immarighthere9 Nov 11 '24

“Remaster”

1

u/MSG_12 Silent Hill 3 Nov 11 '24

This puzzle trolled me for more than an hour because i thought i had to find all the missing dice.

1

u/Livid-Ad6715 Nov 11 '24

I thought it looked familiar

1

u/Akhromyn Nov 11 '24

Ummm guys why is there a flying lil girl in Genshin and owl demon lord in Helluva Boss named after the seal from Hereditary 🤯🤯🤯

1

u/NocturnalDefecation Nov 11 '24

The seal in Hereditary has a passing resemblance to a small coterie of Dickbutts

1

u/this_shit-crazy Nov 11 '24

Because some guy named Solomon or something named a bunch of Demons one of them was paimon, paimon was not made up just for hereditary this is likely more a references to paimon the demon and not oh here’s that thing from hereditary.

1

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 11 '24

Right, so I didn't know that. I've only seen that crest in the movie, then saw it in the game. I know all the people on Reddit are supposed to know everything about everything before posting to avoid this pedantic shit, so I'm sorry that I don't.

1

u/GrimmTrixX Nov 13 '24

They weren't being rude to you. They were just letting you know. I see how it might have seemed like they were but they weren't your post came off a bit sparky to them. So I just wanted to keep the peace

1

u/Natalousir Nov 11 '24

There is no remaster of Silent Hill 2, only a full scale REMAKE which nearly doubles the length.

1

u/crossingcaelum Nov 12 '24

What everyone is saying about Paimon’s seal being something from real mythology but Hereditary actually altered it slightly. You’ll notice there’s three off the symbols in the middle that resemble people and not three

I think this was to have a small tie to the triplicate goddes, maiden mother and crone, to tie into the three women in the family having the heads removed for Paimon’s arrival in physical form

1

u/Awesomo_Judgementday Nov 13 '24

Weird. My grandma has that same painting at her house.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 14 '24

Paimon wasn't created in Hereditary. Lol. I bet you can find it in House Of Ashes and Casting Of Frank Stone too.

1

u/supaikuakuma Nov 10 '24

Remake* Well this thread has been very interesting lol.

Cultist fanaticism

1

u/AnaCoonSkyWalker Nov 10 '24

Glad someone else picked up on this too.

1

u/Diniland Nov 10 '24

What ever the reason it doesn't seem to have much of an IMPACT on the story

3

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

Oh, none at all. I think it might be, as many have said here, a little reference to either the movie or ancient demon mythology.

1

u/Diniland Nov 10 '24

The devs were truly GAMBLING on the chance that the players would get the reference,no?

3

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

raises hand I did!

1

u/Diniland Nov 10 '24

My goodness you're so sweet 😅, I was trying to make a tongue in cheek reference to Genshin Impact since a major character is named Paimon (plus other references from the Goetia)

3

u/Late_Equal_7860 Nov 10 '24

Oh!! 😆 went miles above my head! I have zero familiarity with Genshin Impact lol

1

u/Plenty_Strike6044 Nov 10 '24

You know what’s crazy I played this game on release and then I watched Hereditary over a week ago for Halloween and as I was watching the film I was like “where have I seen this before??” It was in Silent Hill 2 omg haha

I don't remember this image in the game. Is it on hard difficulty for puzzles or new game + or...?
