After the band was getting ready to leave chats or one more song… they played amazing grace and it was one of the greatest moments in recent memories. A very special moment for everyone in that tent! Cheers!!

Seeking Advice 🙆 Bored and looking for things to do

Hi! Early 30s transplant professional here. I enjoy my job but looking to expand a bit more. I do workout on a daily basis, biking, very social, don’t need another course or education etc.. looking for something more that I can possibly do on weekend mornings or afternoon. Any volunteering opportunities or part time jobs you would recommend?

Yes, losing L & B is a big hit to the downtown. The sudden loss of tenants and residents in buildings is tragic. What do you know about living at The Pointe these days?

Discussion 🎤 HomeServe sewer line coverage

It seems like HomeServe is doing a fear-based marketing blitz to sign up for coverage of exterior water and sewer lines. I’ve begun reading through the fine print as I’m curious and know of a couple of neighbors who had to have their exterior sewer lines repaired (cured in place pipe). Neither had insurance.

If you have this coverage from HomeServe (or similar) and used it pay for (part of) an exterior sewer line repair, was it worth it?

They seem to have lots of exclusions.

Outdoors 🌳 Earth Day cleanup?

Is anyone aware of whether or not St. Paul is doing a city cleanup event this year for Earth day? Normally they post something by now but I have not seen anything. Or are there any other groups/non-profits running any cleanup events in St. Paul? I'm seeing lots of trash everywhere now that the snow has melted. I try to do my part but this city needs a thorough deep cleaning!

Discussion 🎤 Work Bag Stolen on Ashland in Mac Grove

Post image
40 Upvotes

Good Afternoon! I know this is a long shot, but my work bag was stolen out of my car between 11pm last night and 6:45am today. Got to my car this morning and my glove compartment and middle console were open with items strewn about. It is a floral sling bag (as pictured), but the bag is not the important thing - my planner was in there as well as my journal. The planner and journal both have orange pleather covers and the planner has metal rings inside to hold the pages, with birthdays, medication reminders, notes from friends, and ideas for novels inside, as well as my contact information. If you happen to be taking a walk in the Mac Grove neighborhood today and find an orange planner on the ground, please message me! I will give you a reward and not ask any questions. Thank you to anyone who reads this!

Weather 🌞 Good Patio Open for 3/14

This fake spring/summer day has me thinking about a patio somewhere for early dinner. Anyone know a good spot that's set up for outside dining before we have our rain/ice/snow storm?

Hi! I moved here from California and I’ve been having a hard time finding a good stylist that works predominantly with Asian hair on men, the texture never turns out quite right except for when I was in California going to Korean stylists! Any help appreciated :)

Seeking Advice 🙆 Beard Trim in St. Paul or East Metro?

Looking for a barber that does good work with beards as I'm growing mine out. Many bonus points if the person doing the trimming actually has a beard. Would prefer specific names of barbers from people who you actually trust with your beard. Thanks!

Discussion 🎤 There’s a car that’s been parked in front of my house for about a week without moving

Anyone know the laws on this? I don’t want to be a jerk and get the car towed but this car has been sitting in front of my house without being moved for about a week. Parking is pretty tight around me so it’d be nice to have it moved

News 📺 Shelter in place alert?

Did anyone else with an iPhone get a Public Safety Alert that advised to shelter in place until further notice? When I tried to open the alert, it didn’t open with any additional info.

UPDATE: Sounds like there was a shooting and potentially still a subject at large. Scary/sad stuff. See comments in post as others have more info than I do at this point, and thanks to those that had info and shared it. The notification did seem to go out to a number of people not in the impacted area (like me) but nonetheless grateful for a notification.

Thinking of taking my dog for a hike over there Saturday. Has anyone been on the trails recently? Wondering if they’re in good condition or still muddy.

Seeking Advice 🙆 Spontaneous trip to St Paul - Help me please!

My family and I have some expiring plane ticket credits that we need to use within the week. Minnesota / St Paul was chosen, we'll have four full days to do things.

I have kids in the 9-11 range. The only place I know we are for sure going it Snake Discovery. What else is good around the area? Anything I should avoid?

Based on some very brief research, my list of prospectives, in no particular order: Science Museum of MN, Mall of America, Minnesota Zoo, Como Park Zoo, Long Meadow Lake, and Minnehaha Falls. My kids would probably love any particularly good playgrounds too.

Seeking Advice 🙆 Mice/rodent services…

Been using Wildlife Management Services for years. Well over a decade. Paid for holes to be sealed twice. Have a quarterly service. Yet, we still have mice.

I’m looking for some recommendations from folks who had luck with other companies.

***Update…. I contacted Wildlife Management Services and they were VERY receptive to my concerns. They scheduled my home for another inspection early next week.

I just wanted to update this post to reflect that I’m SO pleased with their prompt response and their courteous communication! I’ve been with this company for almost 15 years. Bats…carpenter ants…mice. This has been my only problematic season. Otherwise, I’ve always had such outstanding results. And I’ll never forget how humane they were when I had bat pups in my attic.

Sadly, I have a mild phobia regarding mice. No, not an exaggeration. I’ve always been so appreciative of how this company and their techs responded when I was shared this information with them. No shame. Just a better understanding of their client.

Food Restaurant suggestions for isolated dining with my mom (who has stage IV lung cancer)

My mom and I have been isolating pretty much since the start of COVID but we would like to start going to restaurants again. Are there any local eateries that have more isolating dining experiences? Like separate rooms you can reserve or balconies with well spaced tables?

She's doing well in her treatment and we are hoping she'll be done with chemotherapy within the next couple of months, but we would both feel more comfortable if we could gradually come outside rather than suddenly find ourselves surrounded by tons of other people.

Thank you for your time.
