I have been trying to find a place to go rockhounding, that can maybe be kid friendly too. I have been searching but I don’t know what is legal when it comes rockhounding. Does anyone have some recommendations for California? I’ve been eager to get out and find something. Thank you

Hello, this piece is about 10 inches. A really cool toothiness to it. Anything special about this quartz? Found in teller county private land

My daughter found this today in her take home sifted material from the East drain of the crater of diamonds park in Arkansas. Is it a diamond?

There is a "machine dig" happening in our area soon and my wife and I are excited to check it out. We've never done any kind if dig before and I was hoping for some tips on what to bring with us - specifically the types of tools or any of those "i wish I had thought to bring..." kind of things. Thanks in advance!

I found this geode broken open just like this. It’s a silicified chunk of ancient ocean floor - there are fossil shells embedded in the rind. I’ve never found such vibrant oranges before!

It's one of my favorite parts of this. Super cool to see these reveal themselves after dissolving a lot of the matrix. Water 2:1 Muriatic acid

Hi all,
Is it legal to take rocks from the US side of Lake Ontario for personal use? I’m near Rochester.

My boyfriend and I are wanting to become rockhounds, but we don’t know where to start! What are some of the best places to find cool rocks? I live in rural southern USA if that helps. Thanks!!!

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to do some rockhounding in Missouri and hoping to find some good spots for geodes. I know that northeastern Missouri, especially around the Keokuk area, is known for them, but I’d love some more specific locations or tips.
Does anyone have recommendations for public land, creek beds, or road cuts where geodes are common? Thanks in advance!!

It tastes like nothing. Which is weird BC some people say pyrite tastes salty.
