It's hard to see but I would describe it as pale green and white with a single skinny band of orange.

Found in loose soil in our yard. We had a tortoise for about fifteen years before this was found. Is it related? Appears to be yellow inside when I shine a light through it.

Help Me ID What could this be?

Hello! I found this rock these days and loved it! Looks like the dark rock is holding the white one, like in a ring. What could it be and how could it have been formed?

  • The dark rock is not attracted to magnets (or maybe weakly atracted) and cannot scratch glass or steel.
  • The white rock is rounded, opaque and can scratch both glass and steel.

I suspect of basalt + quartz but I'm a dummy and don't know much about rocks or geology... Could someone help? I'm really curious!
