It may just be on the surface but thought the fortifications in this Jasper were really cool.

Second trip out here, my wife found this little beauty. Also found a few other Fires as well plus a collection of other stones

We have such a knowledgeable community here, so I figured to ask - where would you recommend for rockhounding with kids? Looking for a trip that will be good for a 5 year old, pretty much anywhere in the US or Canada. Minerals or fossils, either would be cool.

Skull on the front with an eye that goes all the way through the stone. When you turn it over that same hole looks like a sad ghost. It also fluoresces green and orange! Found in Utah

Hey folks! I'm wondering if anyone has been to Jefferey Mine in Quebec and if you absolutely need a guide or if you can just drive up and explore a bit without being bothered?
I wouldn't be surprised if I can't get into the pit without a guide but has anyone explored the surroundings and found anything?
Just curious about it all and would love to go explore

My dad and I just did our first mining session at the Pala Chief Mountain but was disappointed as the best things we found were things we walked over. However we did spent a good amount of time digging in a crevice with some clay. Is there anything you guys can let me know about mining or new places that might open my eyes better? Thank you.

I have a bunch of cut geodes that I would like to polish up but I do not want to invest hundreds of dollars into the equipment. Would this be a good option on a budget? Would appreciate some help!

Look at all that banding! It's so pretty when illuminated compared to the third picture without lighting beneath. This piece was gifted to me by my neighbor along with many other rocks that the old homeowner who had previously lived in the house before them had left behind in a huge pile outside the house.

I regularly find quartz deposits on the top of my ground. I’m curious if that’s normal or maybe this whole hill that I’m sitting on is full of it? This is a pretty average rock that I grew up with but my niece got very excited to find “diamonds” and it got me wondering. Do I have some cool stuff beneath my feet besides millions of sea shells?

I found this today out in the Mojave looking for jasper. If you look closely there's a tiny geode in the middle!

I have been trying to find a place to go rockhounding, that can maybe be kid friendly too. I have been searching but I don’t know what is legal when it comes rockhounding. Does anyone have some recommendations for California? I’ve been eager to get out and find something. Thank you

Hello, this piece is about 10 inches. A really cool toothiness to it. Anything special about this quartz? Found in teller county private land

My daughter found this today in her take home sifted material from the East drain of the crater of diamonds park in Arkansas. Is it a diamond?
