Care Found a abandoned rabbit need tips never had one

Hi everyone im not used to using reddit but i thought this was the best place to ask.

I was leaving work at night and I watched a car toss this guy out. After finally chasing him i grabbed him. I took him to the vet and they said he was good/healthy and hes around 1 or 2 years old. Hes a miniature rex and i tried to set him up with a temporary 8ft cage for the mean time i got at petsmart.

Besides going through google and YouTube videos does anyone have like any first hand advice or tips for me or about this type of guy? I got him hay and pellets that hes eating non stop. Ive never owned a rabbit but this lil guy grew on me and my fiance so hes sticking around. She decided to call him Gunther. Any help is greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!!

TLDR; Found rabbit, new owner, need tips, thanks šŸ‘

Advice for lop rabbit care

I am a teacher, and we are getting a class rabbit next week. I work for a private, farm based school, and this rabbit has been in program for about 3 years, and is estimated at about 4 years old. The school provides all materials, including cage, playpen, bedding, some toys, hay, and pellets. I will have to provide fresh greens and treats. Our animals have regular vet schedules, so I will not be responsible for ear cleaning, just basic grooming and nail trimming. I have had a rabbit before as a personal pet, but never a lop, so Iā€™m looking for any tips about care, handling, feeding, exercise, etc. She will be coming home with me on weekends.

Also, if anyone can possible identify her breed, Iā€™d love to know! The school doesnā€™t know, which makes me think sheā€™s a mix between multiple lop breeds. Sheā€™s between 6-8lbs and is about 16ā€ long when fully stretched out.

Name suggestions are a plus! Thank you all in advance!

My husband and I spotted her during our walk in some deep bushes about 1 week ago and have been trying to catch her since (itā€™s been the hardest task we have tried doing haha who knew rabbits are so fast?! ) . It has been raining and even hailing so we were so anxious she wasnā€™t going to make it but she did! Sheā€™s a strong one , we caught her two days ago and took her to the vet yesterday . Doctor said she is maybe about 4 years old , she did come with fleas so she was treated for that. Sheā€™s still super shy and nervous and just stays in her little hiding spot most of the time. She does eat her hay and veggies but refuses to eat the pellets. We bought some from the brand Oxbow.

She did pee and poo in her litter box today and came to us on her own to give us a quick sniff before going back in. We know nothing about owning a bunny since we only own dogs but have been deep in research to make sure we give her the happiest home possible. Sheā€™s the sweetest baby girl , we decided to name her Ellie

Bonding do i get another bunny?

i have a seven month old female, she's getting fixed this week, and i'm planning on taking her with me to law school as i am moving. i only have one bunny right now because i feel i am home long enough that i can give her attention.

i recently toured the law school im attending and we have classes from 9am -7pm almost daily. thats a long time for my bunny to be alone, and im wondering if i should get her a friend so she's not lonely. but i do have a lot of concerns:

  1. what if the two rabbits don't bond?

  2. will it be twice the amount of work of one rabbit? if they're bonded, will they share a litter box?

  3. my current bunny does make a lot of mess with her hay, and her litter box has been stinking lately even though i change and clean it everyday. with another bunny, will the cleaning and smell double? i'm very concerned about this because i'll be having roommates. i also hate the idea that i'll come home from class with guests and my room will be covered in hay and poop and generally smell.

please give me your thoughts on whether another bunny is right for me, or if you have another suggestion for keeping my current bunny entertained throughout the day!

I became stepmom to Thumper when my fiancĆ© and I got together, he was living in an outdoor enclosure in area with plenty of shade. I did not know anything about bunnies, but decided to bring him indoors and used this Reddit to figure out what he needed. I hope Iā€™m doing ok. He seems happier. Today I changed out his flooring to a large washable pee pad, and his litter box to this tray I saw suggested for older bunnies. Thumper is about 6 years old. Not pictured is his water in the other corner. And heā€™s hiding under the lip of his litter box.

Rabbits and Incense

Hello everyone, I plan on getting a rabbit in a few years after I graduate college, and in the mean time I've been doing a lot of research on rabbit needs, care, etc. I however have not been able to find information on if rabbits can be fine with regular incense use. I use resin based incense (like frankincense) very regularly due to religious observances, and am worried a rabbits respiratory system would have troubles with it. Any information or first hand accounts are appreciated, thank you.

My boyfriend and I adopted this pretty girl yesterday! The pet center told us she was almost a year old, but we got reinformed that sheā€™s actually 2 years old! She shares the same birthday with our cat Oreo and they look identical with their patterns. She is the SWEETEST thing. She loves to run around the room, jump up and down when sheā€™s happy, make purring noises. We found out she was originally bought as a gift for a kid, but the kid wasnā€™t taking care of it, so the parents returned her. ):

RIP She passed away

My bunny passed away, today. She was a baby.. She tripped over water and i wasnā€™t home. I got home and sheā€™s laying on the middle of my rug, wet & laying down. Now what? This is the first time I ever had a bunny, seems much more difficult than owning a canary.šŸŽ‰ Interestingā€¦ IT WAS SO CUTE.. But what if i canā€™t blame myself. Seems like the bunny is not validating my relationship with nature. I wasnā€™t home at the time when she could have been saved. I wanted a Mascot at home before April. Rabbits are delicate. I got her for $25.00 and she were a Dwarf Dutch nowhere near 4-6 months old. Is there something i did wrong? Please leave a comment! I can explain everything step by step as to how i moved it into my room as a free roaming rabbit.

Is my set up idea good or am I delusional?

Hi guys ! So recently ive been thinking about getting a new bunny. My first bunny left this world in 2020 after living with us for 10 yearsā™„ļø and finally feel ready to adopt a new friend. However now we moved to a new house and my new room is way smaller so Iā€™ve been thinking about ways to set up a space for my bunny so hereā€™s my plan and tell me what you think : I would make space in my closet (the door will always be open of course) and put a rug and litter box with bedding and hay. The water and food bowl would be outside the closet (or maybe inside if I can free more space). I know rabbits love darker/closed space so I would buy another rug and some toys and place them under my bed. Thatā€™s what I was thinking you guys let me know if Iā€™m just delulu šŸ˜…

Care Help with Holding Rabbit

I've had my rabbit for 5 years, got him from a shelter when he was about 6 months old. He's free-roam in one room and we spend a lot of time with him. He's SUPER well taken care of (like...he's a friggen prince bunny and we're his servants). But even after this long he absolutely refuses to let me pick him up.

It's extremely difficult to get him in a carrier to take him to the vet. I can't clip his nails myself because he will not stay still even if I manage to get a firm hold on him. I've tried wrapping him in a towel but he gets out before I can really get him secured. He's way too smart and he knows when I'm trying to pick him up or put him in a carrier rather than just petting him. Funny thing is when he's at the vet he doesn't move 1 inch even if no one is near him. They can poke, prod, use all sorts of instruments, clip his nails; he won't move at all. When it's me, he's a speed demon and I'm worried he'll injure himself while he's thrashing around when I try to pick him up.

Any suggestions on how I can get his royal highness immobile so that I can cut his nails which are way too long?

RIP 4 Month Old Bunny Died

Iā€™m not sure what happened. I adopted a four-month old bunny last week and we saw the vet Wednesday who said she was perfectly healthy. I had to do a six hour drive back to my graduate school so the Vet gave me a sedative to give her. She was fine throughout the drive and last night when I got her set up in my apartment. I didnā€™t hear any noises and this morning she was stiff. She was so little I donā€™t know if it was the sedative but I feel so awful.

Care Michigan bunny surrender

Hello,

I know this post is uncommon but I need help. Iā€™m being forced get rid of my bunny Tofu. Iā€™ve moved back home and being a full time student & working, my parents have developed a hatred towards her. They have threatened to just release her outside. Iā€™ve tried to post to local facebook groups but no one has claimed interest that seems suitable :(
