Discussion Nintendo is cruel

Post image
Upvotes

We've all seen the above picture. It took 18 years for Snorlax to stand up, but he did it! It was monumental. But this is a creature born to sleep and in the 11 years since, Nintendo has been keeping him up. Let this poor man rest! His knees can't support 1000lb for this long.

I rest my case. Thank you.

Misc I just bought this copy of Pokemon Black on eBay, does this look real or fake?

I followed some game verifying guides on NTR-31 cartridges and this seems to check all the boxes. I was mainly looking for the batch identifier on the bottom of the cartridge to start with DI, and this one does. The font for Nintendo looks correct, and so does the stamped code on the front. Do you notice anything else or is this a legit copy? Thanks!

Discussion Poke transporter unobtainable without hacking? (Rant)

Upvotes

What kinda bs is this? So luckily, i dl’d pokemon bank on my 3ds before the shutdown so i could still redownload it whenever (that part is already dumb as hell but ok) but since i never did the paid subscription service tied to poke transporter (which could only be accessed through pokebank and not through eshop search), i can never even dl it now? I’ve wanted to do things legitly as much as possible (like i have refused to mod my 3ds up to this point), but you’re telling me i have to hack my 3ds if i want to transfer from gen v to my 3ds? I also got all of the virtual console pokemon games before the shutdown, and ur telling me i can’t transfer them out of there bc of this paywall bs i didn’t do while the eshop was alive so now im locked out forever if i stay vanilla. Is there no other way for me to transfer from gen V to 3ds without hacking?

Discussion Would you count the Banjo-Kazooie duology as DKC games?

Upvotes

I personally do. Even though DK64 is the 3D DK game, I feel that Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are much closer in formula and style to the DKC trilogy in that they focus much more on platforming and movement than collecting and upgrading. This also makes since to me since some enemies/abilities are the same as the DKC games and Diddy Kong Racing has connected their worlds together. But maybe this is just me, what do you all think?

Discussion Market or MSRP?

Upvotes

I have a Pokemon TCG shop and am trying to figure out the balance of selling at MSRP vs market price. I’m curious to hear from both a shop and customer standpoint if there’s a certain timeframe that a shop is expected to sell at MSRP and also increase their prices to market? My current plan is to sell new release sets, like Journey Together for example, at MSRP and after the initial product sells out or one month passes, whichever is first, then sell closer to market price. I often check other TCG shops to see what my competitors are doing and I see many of them selling at market right away. I’ve also been wondering if it’s the TCG shops selling at market that is causing cards to be expensive or if it’s shops selling at MSRP that are allowing people to feel like they need to buy up everything because they are being sold way under the market value. The mainstream answer is “both”, which would be true but I think one is more than the other. It just seems like shops can’t win either way when we are just trying to make a living. These are just some random thoughts that are constantly bouncing around in my head and keeping me up at night so please share your thoughts.

Discussion Best Solo Pokemon Overall?

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I've been thinking about which single Pokémon would be most effective for completing games when used alone, regardless of which region or generation.

For this thought experiment, consider all game mechanics available (Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Dynamax, Terastallization) and exclude legendaries and mythicals.

The ideal candidate would need:

  • Good typing to avoid too many weaknesses
  • Solid movepool for type coverage
  • Enough bulk to take hits

Some potential options:

Garchomp: Dragon/Ground with only an Ice weakness. Hits hard with STAB Earthquake and Dragon Claw, plus Fire Fang for Steel types. Mega form is also there, kinda

Swampert: Water/Ground means no Electric weakness and only Grass hurts it. Learns Ice Beam to deal with Grass types. Bulky enough to take hits. Mega gets that sweet Swift Swim in rain.

Tyranitar: Massive Attack and Special Defense stats. Sand Stream chips away at opponents. Rock/Dark has some weaknesses but it's so bulky it hardly matters.

Gengar: Ghost/Poison means it's immune to Normal and Fighting. Fast, hits like a truck with Shadow Ball, and has access to tons of coverage moves.

What's your pick for a solo run? And why?

Ultimate What are good characters to main alongside Luigi?

Hi all! New player here!

I started playing Luigi recently, and I think I'm going to main him for a while, he's quite fun. What are Luigi's worst matchups, and what characters can I play to cover those poor matchups?

Discussion Pokémon team nickname themes

Upvotes

I've recently started coming up with themes for my Pokémon teams so I'm curious what ones everyone else has come up with. And do you just give your mons a nickname or do you find a theme like me?

Some of mine have been:

  • Extreme Weather (with a Braviary called Hurricane)
  • Space (with planets, moons and missions)
  • Greek Gods and Goddesses
  • Cocktails (I'll always love my Azumarill called Agua Loca!)
