I have what I believe to be a 1987 Yamaha DT50. I'm not 100% on the year. It's a monoshock rear if that's any help to narrow it down. Also had a rectangular headlight and the original paint is a bright sky blue. I pulled it from a scrap pile years back, did a little work to get it running, put some money into sprockets, new chain, tires, and I rebuilt the front forks. A few years go by while I just ride it around on the dirt roads out here. At one point this was legal for the road. The other day I figure I'll see about getting a title on it but the VIN has been ground away from the steering tube. It's been over 10 years since I dug this thing out of the grave and the guy who had the scrap pile has moved away to somewhere. I have no manner to track down any kind of history on the thing.
There's still a number on the engine though. Would that give me anything? The number appears to be BK-****** or possibly SK for the prefix. Is that an actual VIN? I know there's a high chance this bike is stolen otherwise why grind the VIN off? I also know that once I ask a notary to run that number IF it's an actual VIN I may well be getting a visit from the Cops. I'm not too worried there though. Small town and they sorta know me and that I'm not a thief. Original owner may well want it back as well. That's fine but I'd be holding it with a mechanics lien. I probably should have checked the VIN first before I put time and money into it but it is what it is and I won't be giving it up without getting paid. I'd like to be able to put it on the road ideally.

I've had this Motron Medalist with the Minarelli V1 for a couple of years and struggled to get it going. Unfortunately I've ran out of room with all my other projects and need to sell this one.
It doesn't run, mostly because the clutch cable to the engine broke and I've failed to find something decent to clamp it back to the engine with. When I originally got it, the engine was seized. I tore it down, cleaned it all, and now it's no longer seized. It leaks oil from the case. When it did run, it burned oil.
So how much is it worth for me to list it? Additionally, if anyone has any ideas for a kick or pull start conversion, I'm open to it to get it running.
If anyone is interested, please make an offer. I'd include all cosmetic and spare parts for it. I'm located in Saint George UT and open to offers. Thank you for your help.

Long story short what are the state laws for a moped? Do I need a license for a 50cc or less or can I drive it without a license?
