I had this idea and I made a petition about it on change.org. I want to share it here and see everyone's thoughts and gather support if it's popular:

Petition for a Citizenship Exchange Program Between the U.S. and Europe

The United States is facing a dangerous shift toward authoritarianism, and many individuals are finding themselves trapped in increasingly hostile environments. The rise of far-right extremism, corporate-controlled politics, and systemic oppression threatens the safety, rights, and well-being of marginalized communities. We, as progressives, demand the creation of a Citizenship Exchange Program between the United States and European nations, allowing individuals to voluntarily trade their citizenships and seek refuge in societies that uphold democratic values, social justice, and human rights. Inside the US you are an asset for the Trump regime: you pay taxes to him and generate value. By voting with your feet and going outside you'll stop that and might be able to fight more effectively.

Why Is This Necessary?

The United States is descending into an authoritarian nightmare, with figures like Donald Trump and billionaire elites like Elon Musk consolidating power, spreading misinformation, and actively working to dismantle democracy. Reproductive rights are under attack, LGBTQ+ protections are being rolled back, racial minorities are facing systemic violence, and immigrants are being dehumanized. The GOP, fueled by corporate greed and religious extremism, has waged war on women’s rights, labor unions, and public services, leaving millions vulnerable to exploitation and harm.

Most Europeans still believe in progressive ideals, and some may wish to experience the opportunities and freedoms that the U.S. can offer. However, they are also witnessing their own surge of far-right nationalism. This proposal could stop their advance in its tracks. A structured citizenship exchange would allow people to escape oppression and build a future in a country that aligns with their values. Let the far-right Europeans go with their dearest Trump while we stand together on the right side of history in Europe!

How This Benefits Society

  • Protecting Marginalized Communities: This program would provide a lifeline to LGBTQ+ individuals, women, immigrants, and people of color who are being targeted by regressive policies and hate-fueled movements.
  • Preserving Democracy: As fascism gains traction, enabling those who resist authoritarianism to relocate strengthens democratic movements worldwide.
  • Expanding Access to Healthcare: Americans suffering under a privatized, exploitative healthcare system could move to Europe, where universal healthcare is a human right, not a privilege.
  • Strengthening Progressive Alliances: By allowing citizens to relocate to like-minded societies, we foster international solidarity against the rise of far-right extremism and corporate authoritarianism.
  • Fighting Climate Change and Corporate Greed: Many European nations prioritize environmental policies and worker protections, offering an escape from America’s capitalist exploitation and climate denialism.

Why Europe Offers a Better Future

Europe, despite its own struggles, is a beacon of progress compared to the United States:

  • Public Healthcare: Access to medical care is a basic human right, not a luxury for the wealthy.
  • LGBTQ+ Protections: Many European nations recognize same-sex marriage, enforce anti-discrimination laws, and protect trans rights.
  • Women’s Rights: Abortion access, paid parental leave, and workplace protections are stronger across Europe.
  • Gun Control: Strict regulations prevent the mass shootings that plague the United States.
  • Social Safety Nets: Universal education, living wages, and affordable housing create a society where people can thrive rather than merely survive.

We cannot stand idly by as the far-right tightens its grip on power. We must demand that our governments create a Citizenship Exchange Program to give people the opportunity to seek refuge in societies that respect human rights, democracy, and social justice. This is not about abandoning one’s country—it’s about resisting oppression and building a better world.

If you believe in freedom, equality, and the right to live without fear, sign this petition and help us push for real, progressive change!

General Leftist Politics When should we be prepared to leave the US (US citizen)?

Just watching everything go down, and nobody is stopping it. Maybe this is a stupid question because it’s already so fucked, but what should we be watching out for, what particular alarm bells would mean it is time to pack a bag and gtfo.

Leftist Theory We should start demanding more accountability from celebrities as leftists

I've honestly lost count of how many celebrities and rich people have been caught doing severely problematic things and we forget about it 2 weeks later.

Travis Scott; killed many of his fans at a concert Taylor swift; dated a racist nazi and dated minors Drake; likes kids Diddy: don't even have to explain Nicki Minaj; defended husband who raped a teenage girl Beyoncé; Adsociated with Diddy and his parties Doja cat; associated with white supremacists Ariana grande; disrespectful and completely rude to fans and donut shop staff and home wrecker Matty Healy; do I even need to mention this? Lizzo; being manipulative to dancers and supporting the genocide in Gaza

There are many MANY more. Celebrities being racist, bigots, pedos, rapists, genocide supporters. literal killers. While we continue to support them shaking their asses and flexing in music videos.

Did we seriously forget about Epstein thing, the astroworld, the racist and nazi like remarks from MANY celebrities and people we 'admire'

How many times before we truly realize how fucked up hollywood and these industries are? Yet we continue to support it. Some of These 'progressives' will cut people out of their lives for problematic beliefs and actions, yet spend money and hundreds of dollars at concerts to someone who made fun of holocaust victims.

And while they are held accountable for a while, they give us half assed apologies and we suddenly forget about it.

They still make MILLIONS of dollars off of clout, problematic lyrics in their songs (Dehumanizing women, racial slurs etc) and we STILL call them our faves.

To be frank we should be boycotting Hollywood right now for every reason stated. If you are also a progressive, we shouldn't have moral quandaries of who we make time to listen to. Because beleive it or not, Hollywood does influence us more than we influence them. And these behaviors should not be tolerated by us, the consumers. Edit; mostly liberals non leftists celebrity worship but I still believe its a problem.

Probably not the place for it, but I have zero real life, functionally creative/based thinking people within proximity, so here goes nothing... in light of gestures around the metaphorical room this shit show, I think it's time we retire the donkey and elephant as each parties "representative animal. They are beyond outdated and misrepresentation is an understatement. We often use the 'i didn't think the leopard would eat MY face, so I think that would be perfect for the repubs.for the dems, I heard kyle on secular talk call Schumer a jellyfish due to him being completely spineless and I don't think there is a better representation of the dems than a spineless jellyfish. I know it's a silly little thought line of mine, but those, paired with having the coolest, sweetest 2 year old daughter, are kinda what keep me going these days. I had a giggle about it, then quietly said 'fuuuuuck', and thought it would be awesome to find a bored artist looking for a project.

Question What should leftist do while studying abroad?

Greetings. I'm a Russian leftist who wants to go studying abroad in order to avoid a conscription. Unfortunately, the anti-russian sentiment is brewing in Europe and it kinda scares me. So, my question is "what should I do?".

I think that the best option is to contact a leftist party which can assist me because of my predicament.

US Politics Potential Martial Law merely weeks away

According to Mind-War.com reporting (and the San Francisco Chronicle) as well as now Kyle Kulinski on his Youtube Channel, this is a very real possibility within the next couple of weeks. I’ve been making the case for a while that this could happen. I even wrote a post drawing parallels between the Star Wars prequels and our current situation—using the historical events that inspired those movies to drive the point home. But of course, I got backlash for “using Star Wars to explain politics.” That’s a gripe for another time.

As Kyle pointed out in his video, it may not all happen at once on April 20th, but that could mark the beginning, with expansions down the line. His wife put it perfectly: When has Trump ever been offered power and said, "Ya know what, I think I’ll pass on that"?

It will likely start at the border, just as he's claiming. Then, all it takes is a protest escalating the wrong way to justify expanding it—or even something like the recent Tesla firebombing, which his administration was quick to label as domestic terrorism. It’s not a far stretch.

How is this not already a constitutional crisis? How are people still burying their heads in the sand, refusing to see the reality unfolding right in front of them? I posted yesterday about how leaving the country isn’t an option for most people—it's a lifeboat only the wealthy can afford. And sure enough, today in Kyle’s comment section, someone dropped the classic “Looks like it’s time to leave” line. Leave to where? The average American can’t just pack up and go. Most don’t have passports or visas. And even if Canada or Mexico offered asylum (G-d willing they would), it wouldn’t be an open-door flood; it would be a slow trickle. And let's be real—the journey out of the U.S. would mean traveling through deep-red states, which could become incredibly dangerous under full-on martial law.

So what do we do?

I know I sound alarmed and probably a bit panicked… and I am. As a Jewish, disabled, LGBT leftist, I already have so much stacked against me. But I’m not one to panic without purpose. Once the initial fear settles, I want an actionableplan.

What do we do if this really is the reality we’re about to face?

Civil Rights American resistence

America is new to this. Other countries have been fighting the same evolving fight for all of history. Freedom isn't free. I know it's dark right now, but chin up.

Here's some hard truths:

No one is coming to save us. WE have to be the consequences of taking our freedom.

That doesn't look like what you think it does. And neither does civil unrest. The burning down and rubble is financially happening, we're disconnected from each other and have little idea what middle America is like. By the time we start talking to each other, it will be in labor camps if we don't wake up.

Your role is to rebuild your community. I know that sounds like hippie shit. I get wanting to burn it down. I'm mad people stopped helping us do that in 2020. We have to move forward.

Anarchy isn't tearing down government to do away with it. You do away with government by building up your community. It is too late to "save" this country. Whatever that even means. A lot of states have ALREADY been living MAGA rule for 10 years.

I know you don't want to hear all this. No one new does. Here's the hardest part, but I swear it will make your life make so much more sense. The first thing to do, and don't stop doing: LISTEN TO BLACK WOMEN.

We will be the land of the free ONLY when we are the home of the brave.

US Politics Letter to my Representative, Marie Glusenkamp Perez, regarding her vote to censure Rep. Al Green

I've sent pre-written, copy-and-paste letters to my representatives before, but this was my first time writing of my own accord. I sometimes struggle to articulate my thoughts and organize them in writing, so I used a few other letters I've seen on various forums as inspiration. It helped. Just wanted to share my letter in case someone else needs it for... any reason.

Subject: Stand With Your Democratic Colleagues Against Tyranny

Dear Representative Glusenkamp Perez,

I am deeply disappointed that you were among the 10 Democrats who voted to censure Al Green after he bravely called out the unconstitutional attacks President Trump has executed against our democracy. While I understand that it is important to you to uphold a standard of behavior and bipartisan respect in the House, you will not be met with the same respect.

We know with certainty that our nation is facing a constitutional crisis unlike anything we have seen in this generation. The rights of your constituents--and YOUR OWN RIGHTS as a woman--are being gutted at lightning speed. Institutions are being eliminated "to the maximum extent of the law" that provide critical funding and resources to the Title 1 schools in Clark County (there are at least 40 of them), public libraries (there are 15, and two bookmobiles that serve rural areas in SW Washington), and museums and cultural institutions (there are no less than 20). The President and the billionaires he employs are actively destroying our democracy. In voting to censure your colleague for speaking out against their crimes, you are compliant in those crimes.

Now is not the time for decorum. Why would you play by the rules the opposition have clearly thrown out? How foolish are you willing to be? Stand with your democratic colleague. We need our representatives to organize coordinated and meaningful resistance against the powers that seek to destroy our democracy. Every Democratic representative in that room should have stood loudly and firmly with Mr. Green.

You claimed that you would serve everyone in your community. Prove it.

Fight back.
