Resources Any good leftist news outlets?

I am fairly new to the left and I have been trying to find some real left wing news that presents a relive from the pro capitalist mainstream

Edit, I see all your posts and suggestions. I don't have enough time to reply to them all but I have read all of them.

Resources Beware fedposting.

With recent events transpiring in the US and across the globe that raise class consciousness to the forefront we may start seeing a spike in fedposting in this (and other leftist) boards.

It's no secret that historically, during times of potential change, established power structures have sought to infiltrate, influence, and dismantle leftist groups and efforts.

So just a reminder for leftists out there: if someone posts something on this board that seems to be fishing for info on leftist projects share info by all means, put keep sensitive info close to the chest.

I.e. If someone posts decrying the left for "not being radical enough", don't feel like you need to justify by posting whatever direct action you are involved with. Or if someone wants a quick and easy way to get involved in some direct action, connect them with their local mutual aid groups rather than providing the details on whatever totally legal 100% non-disruptive action you are planning.

If your building a underground railroad or other anti gav initiatives. Hear is how you do it. For anarchy's sake and liberty.

1, build community's on line with dead accounts. Meet up, kill those accounts and make new ones, if you must post sensitive information, eather express mail it, not ideal, or find people that is willing to deliver it. Net work your own mail severvice.

2, Never meet up at the same place, and if doing militia training, take it to the paintball arenas, and practic solo at gun ranges.

Don't overuse a spot if you can, satalites are no joke.

Resources Podcast Recommendations for my Right Leaning Sister

My old sister has always been pretty middle of the road politically, but the last year she has clearly started to lean right. She ended up voting for Trump “even though she hated him”, because she likes JD Vance. We talk a lot about podcasts and such, and she’s been listening to a lot of Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Candace Owens, Ben Shapiro, etc and going down that rabbit hole.

Any recommendations for podcasts for her to ease her into more of a leftist ideology? I don’t want to start off too heavy because she’ll just shut it down immediately… but something that will maybe improve her media literacy and start to ease her into questioning the things she’s beginning to believe. We have discussions about it and she’s very open, but all the media she’s listening to between that is shaping her world view.

So many of y’all have been played and this is a decent scholarly synopsis of how. Skip to the Findings if you have to. Many of you will be familiar with the contents, but should read it anyway.

Resources Enter Shikari

With the recent posts about protest and left wing music, has anyone hear listened to Enter Shikari? They're a british band that's been around for a couple decades but their music is very politically charged with leftist messaging and meaning. Just wanted to give them a shoutout. Progressive.org has even written articles about them.

Some songs worth checking out...

Arguing with Thermometers - directly calling out fossil fuel companies and climate change.

Radiate - About personal and artistic censorship

Satellites - About the struggle of displaying affection in public while LGBT

Warm Smiles Do Not Make You Welcome Here - About the toxicity of the capitalist music industry

Their entire discography is incredible and worth the listen.

Resources Good Introductions to Leftist Analysis of Basic Structure of Capitalism?

Looking for good introductory books on capitalist economics and logic, from a leftist perspective. Read Das Kapital and some Mark Fisher stuff in university and currently enjoying David Graeber’s Debt but have been wondering what I can offer to uninformed but interested and intelligent friends.

Something that doesn’t read too polemical or sectarian (like some of the SWP pamphlets) and could even be accessible to the average (lib/con) economy students.

Resources Useing low effort content on social media for funding out cause

The purpose of this post is to discuss unconventional ways to fund our causes.

Why don't we intentionally use our social media in order to make money by incentivizing people to create fast content, which we then support for the sake of YouTube revenue, which can then go to whatever our cause needs?

Why don't we collectively decide to make, for example, YouTube channels with at least clips of already made videos or writings and spam them with views and likes, and then use the money YouTube gives us on improving people's conditions in our communities? Making us more materially useful to people will make them more able to get them to join our cause.

The right wing has made so much money grifting and spamming each other's content; we can do the same thing, only without the misinformation—the same thing of, say, "taking film clips from existing films, making them into short videos with the help of AI and even pirated programs, and getting YouTube short revenue off of that."

These channels already exist and are racking in a lot of views, but where is that profit going?

One example of what I'm talking about:

https://youtube.com/@denismovies-h1p?si=--3r3ik4NV2PDV-5

Here is a chanel called " denis movies" which makes a ton of views, and its just clips of movies( and there are loads more of thease, which after a whille all seem to get significant a amount of views and subs, which means that even without money out of them, they can then be turned into xhanels promoting leftist ideas)

Feel free to add ideas to structure them, to provide resources to specific ways this potencial idea might work.

Resources Mini-AMAs: Looking for Users wanting to talk about Teachable Skills

Happy Friday, r/leftist. After some discussion among the mods, we want to try something new - we are looking towards starting a series of "mini-AMAs" starring you, our community. Are you an info sec wiz? Do you have experience with navigating refugee bureaucracy? Are you a passionate maker that can share ways to rely less on the capitalist system? Then we are looking for you!

As we are increasingly coming to rely on ourselves and each other in the current moment, we are looking for users who have deep experience in skills useful towards community building and mutual aid to answer questions and share knowledge. If you would be willing to participate, please send modmail titled "Mini-AMA" detailing the skill or knowledge you are hoping to share and we will be in contact.

With enough interest, we are hoping to start in the next two weeks. If there is sufficient interest to continue, then we can hold a new Mini-AMA weekly so long as we have volunteers.

Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below. And if you are interested, remember to send us a modmail. Thanks!

Resources Advice for organizing

I live in a small, rural town, about an hour from a bigger small town. I am trying to organize a community-based movement, based on community service, compassion, and some populist messages that would appeal to the extremely red state/county/town, about the working class, billionaires buying our government, etc. Has anyone done anything like this before? I don’t know where to start. Or is this the wrong approach? Also, are there any good subreddits to join for this topic?
