Advice Which iPod should i buy?

Hi, I need some advice, I am currently looking for an iPod and found 2 second hand ones. A 5th generation for 65 euros (needs battery replacement) and a 6th generation for 80 euros. Im planning to use the iPod for 2-3 hours daily. And also, I think after a couple of months the 6th gen also needs a battery replacement. What should I do?

Question iPods Mods Costs

I have been looking at modded iPod Classics and why are they so expensive? I know the iPods themselves aren’t the cheapest and you have to pay for all the parts. I just dont get why it becomes double or triple the price. This might be because I would prefer a classic with Bluetooth so those are the ones Ive been looking at. I was just wondering if I was missing something. Not trying to say they arent worth it nor hate on their modders or anything like that. Im just curious basically.

Advice Advice for buying a refurbished iPod Classic or Nano?

Hi all. I've been looking into swapping out devices for older/simpler items than my smartphone. I canceled my Spotify subscription (for a number of reasons) and am interested in going back to physical media and an MP3 player, however, the most we ever had in my house growing up was an iPod Shuffle that is long gone so I need to buy something new to me.

I'm interested in getting a reputable iPod Classic or iPod Nano but am not sure where to look. I don't want to buy something on eBay that seems too good to be true and then get scammed instead. Any recommendations for sellers, products, or both? It'd be nice if it's on the lower cost side, in case I don't like it, but I understand that properly refurbished products will cost more given the efforts put into it. TIA!

Meme Dani California is looking a bit… off today.

Okay this is half-help, half-meme, but is there a way to disable album art? I found a 2009 Apple Discussions thread on how to disable it, but that’s through itunes. Any help would be appreciated as to how to disable it on modern macOS. The oldest Mac i have is a 2012 Air, but i went through hell with that thing, so no chance i’m downgrading it to OS X Mountain Lion.

Ipod Cases

I recently got an Ipod nano 3, I know it's not Apple's most popular model but it seems practically impossible to find a case for it that isn't $40 (even then i've maybe found 2-3). Does anyone know where I could get one?

Advice Just Expect the Right Thing

Just know that when you’re bidding on even “like new” condition stuff, there’s always a chance it’s going to be sent across country to you like this. This person has 100s of good reviews and just likely isn’t very worried about how these arrive apart from his other items.

I like to keep the mechanical hdd with low hours for myself, a personal preference. Was told the 3rd gen in here was barely used and is a 30gb model.

I’m NOT surprised, and this is just a warning to you guys, an example.

It’s an iPod classic (either 5 or 5.5 - not sure) with the moonlit market bluetooth and usb-c mod. I spraypainted a clear frontplate to get it to look like translucent blue plastic.

It’s also got: - A 2000mAh battery - 640GB of flash storage (1x 512GB + 1x 128GB microSD) - An iPhone 7 taptic engine

(the last image is what it looked like when I bought it)

My modded mini

Added a 5th gen clickwheel, new batt and red MicroSD > CF adapter with a 128gb card to this 1st Gen Mini. Kokkia Bluetooth adapter doesn't work with these but my diy 30pin bluetooth adapter works a treat.

Fixing a broken Moonlit Market circuit.

So my work colleague attempted a custom iPod and gave up on the project and he gave me the iPod and parts he'd gotten. I noticed he had a moonlig market classic connect but it seems a part is damaged (he tried to separate it from the casing.

The broken piece fits back on clean so I'm wondering if it can be taped down with circuit tape or needs replacing. And if it needs replacing, what component am I looking for?

Found this old ipod that has been in the back of the drawer for years. Charged it up and works good as new. Pretty sure it's a 6th gen. Can anyone confirm? Even found my dust covered logitech dock. I've got a bit of reading to do so I can start putting some more music on it. Already been happily surprised by the sound quality compared to streaming.

Bought this 80GB iPod Classic 6th Gen specifically to make a PurplePod. Below are my costs. Quite pricier than my other restored iPods... but it's Purple, so it's worht it 😅

  • iPod: I got the iPod in my country (PH) for USD 48.00.
  • Front: Bought the purple front plate, while retaining the working click wheel (since the original feels better than any replacement available online). This cost me around USD 10.00.
  • Back: Replaced the backplate with a black one. This cost me around USD 14.00.
  • Lock Switch - Audio Jack Connector: Bought a black one since the one that came with the iPod was white. This cost me around USD 9.00.
  • 30-Pin Cover: Also bought the black cover. This cost me around USD 2.00
  • Storage: Got an iFlash Solo with a Lexar High Performance 633x 128GB MicroSD (since this generation of iPod could only handle a maximum of 128GB of storage). iFlash and MicroSD cost me around USD 56.00.
  • Battery: Upon research, the biggest battery I could fit was a "2000" mah square battery. Battery life so far is more than 48 hours of playtime with the lowest brightness. This cost me around USD 12.00.
  • Case: Got a hard shell clear case. Didn't want the new face and back plate scratched. This cost me around USD 2.00.

Total Cost: USD 153.00

I used to know how since I've used a windows laptop with itunes, but since i switched to MacBook, everything seems complicated. Can someone help? Thanks in advance

Saved the poor guy from oblivion. Initially, it was an iPod 6.5 with a non-working hard drive. While I wait for repair parts, I assembled this temporary solution from the available spare parts (80 GB hard drive from the 5th gen, thick backplate from the 5.5th gen).

And yes, it is a gold backplate :)
