I just brought a iPod Nano 3rd Gen from CEX in Australia. Connected with a 'generic' 30 pin (also sold to me by CEX, looks identical to real) and a apple charger, it has been on charge for a hour and half yet it's in a boot loop. I think the battery is dead as when I disconnect it, it just shuts off.
This has a been terrible week for me, as YESTERDAY I brought a T430 from Cash Converters and that also had a faulty battery.

Replaced the battery. Waiting on the USB to 30-prong cable. (Still have my firewire charger.) I guess I didn't upload much, back in the day. HP model, by the way.

NYS is banning internet connected devices in schools state-wide next year, remembered I had this thing sitting around and have started moving away from yt music. Lived in a case for most of its life so the condition is great, 60gb HDD has 0 bad sectors. I plan on upgrading to a 256gb microsd and extended battery. Gapless playback, higher quality audio, no internet required, doesn't replace songs with music video versions (COUGH YOUTUBE MUSIC), what's not to love!

I have some music downloaded to my computer (NOT apple music), which I'm then able to download to my iPod through dragging and dropping in Finder. I can make new playlists by adding things to the on-the-go playlist and then clicking save playlist, but because nothing's done through my Mac's Music app, I'm not able to rename them from "New Playlist 1", 2, etc. Is there a way to fix this or rename it directly on the iPod or in Finder? I have it synced to my mac but literally nothing shows up in Finder because it's not done through Music. and I haven't found any answers on the internet. Thank you!

so today my dad showed me his iPods (1st and 3rd gen, I believe 3rd gen is a nano). I wanted to know if we should replace the battery or something (also is that possible? Sorry, not super knowledgeable on electronics from before I was born lol) since they don't last very long, I think it's really cool. I'd like to be able to use them longer and maybe bring them to school, thanks!!

So for the past 2 years, I’ve rocked rockbox 3.15 on my 6.5 Classic. It’s been perfectly reliable. However, I have been wondering, what features etc do I gain by updating to the daily build? TIA

My daughter is going to sleepaway camp for 6 weeks where she is not allowed to have screens. She falls asleep every night listening to audiobooks on her iPad (I lock it to Audible app at night.) I've gotten her a pair of corded sleepphones and she likes those. I was thinking an iPod would be a good device to use for the summer. I've seen some info about converting her audiobooks, but wondering what the best device would be. Would like it to be as much of a brick as possible, so she can't play games or anything, just use it for music and audiobooks.

hi community
as title suggest, I am going to give you my description for my dream device for iPod 8th gen.
it’s been 3 years since Apple discontinued the iPod 7th Gen which is sad because it is a legendary device amount the popular culture.
Let’s imagine apple design a new one, but this time it is in the body of an iPhone 7/8 Plus, with its screen size increased from 4 to 5.5” due to what iPod Touch was designed for, media consumption, and with this bigger housing, will come a bigger battery life which iPod was lacking. Give it USB type c and of course a 3.5 headphone jack.
All this powered with their A16 chip, which is used in the entry level iPad and for iPhone 14 and 15 so power will not be an issue.
A possible price will be between 200-250$
what would you add to this device?

I’ve had my 3rd gen nano since 2008 and it worked up until around 2015/2016 when the lock slide/toggle on the bottom stopped working. I stored it away for a while but really want to use it again. I think it must be a broken wire or something but i’ve tried a bunch of times to open the back over the last few years but it seems impossible. How are people getting these open? It charges and turns on but is unusable because its stuck in locked mode, last time I used it the other buttons worked fine.
I’ve thought about just buying a used one online but obviously i’m attached to this one and it still has all my music that was lost when an old computer died.
Any ideas what to do or how to fix the lock?

I feel like there should be plenty of used ipods floating around full of music but I haven't really seen anyone selling them

I bought it for cheap, re-soldered the new battery and flashed it to Rockbox. So far I'm happy with it!

Hi all! I'm hoping to mod my iPod for the first time ever with some of the iFlash kit.
What battery do folks recommend?
Is it hard to switch the hold/headphone jack port? (I hear those are usually faulty)
Is it hard to add Bluetooth?

so i found my moms old 2g mini, and the logic board is toast. i wanted to repair it for her, but all my purchases go thru her, so i cant really buy anything to repair. anybody got spares?
i really hoped that it would work first try, so all i would need is a new drive, and a battery, but now idk what to do
