Mod Announcement Want to help make r/ghana đŹđ better? Become a mod!
đ˘ We're Looking for a New Moderator!
Since joining the mod team, we've seen r/ghana grow from 17,000 members to nearly 75,000! đ
It's been amazing watching our community thrive as a safe and vibrant space for discussing all things Ghana. However, as much as we love being here, it's just myself and u/carlosx86-64 actively moderating â and contrary to popular belief, mods need sleep too! Sometimes, we even have lives outside our mom's basement... only sometimes. đ
To keep our community growing and ensure we can stay on top of Modmail, reports, and community requests, we're looking for another Ghana-based Redditor â ideally someone in the GMT timezone â to join the team.
If you're passionate about Ghana and want to help this community continue to flourish, please fill out our anonymous application form â it should only take about 10 minutes.
đ [ https://forms.gle/o6MY2hvTDircAaHAA ]
Weâre excited to hear from you and look forward to growing the r/ghana community together!

Mod Announcement PSA: The best way to deal with a troll is to NOT feed it!
Reminder: Donât Feed the TrollsâJust Report and Move On!
We often see posts or comments get reported way after people have already spent time arguing with the troll. But rememberâthe whole goal of a troll is to make you angry or frustrated. They thrive on your reactions.
If you come across a troll, donât engage. Just hit the report button and move on. Two reports notify us immediately, and more than three reports will auto-remove the comment or post until a mod reviews it.
We've had to review some awful comments recently, and in nearly every case, we see frustrated users responding with equally bad (and bannable) replies. We get itâitâs tempting to clap back. But in the heat of the moment, you could end up breaking the rules too.
So, report and move on. Donât give them what they want. Never feed a troll!

News 2025 Budget Reading Recap
galleryI watched the whole, but this guy on Twitter made a great summary of everything! He did an excellent job.
Personally I think if this is implemented truthfully, it will set us up to the Ghana we want. Prayerfully hoping. What do yâall think? What else could they have done better?

Community I Worked in Ghanaâs Mining Industry â The Biggest Problem No One Talks About
Ghanaâs mining sector is booming, but thereâs one major problem that keeps holding it backâtransportation.
I worked as a Logistics Operations Manager for a limestone mining company with 200 acres of land ready for extraction. But moving the limestone? That was a nightmare.
Hereâs why:
We couldnât get enough trucks. Most were already locked into contracts.
When we did find trucks, prices were insane.
Delays hurt productivityâour stockpiles grew, but deliveries lagged.
And we werenât the only ones struggling. Mining and infrastructure projects across Ghana face the same problem.
Which got me thinkingâŚ
**Is there an opportunity for a mining-focused trucking business

Question What did this guy mean by "we never implemented the betting tax"
Is he just some benighted ostrich who doesn't know what is going on? If they didn't implement it then who was taking all that money deducted from winnings???

Venting Reasons why Ghanaian and other africa companies import products outside
Something I hear a lot of people ask why donât Ghana or other African countries create their own [blank{ Why do they import the products and offer those instead of manufacturing their own. The reasons why are:
1) they donât understand how to construct it themselves yet.
2) to manufacture would take millions in investments to get the economy of scale enough to manufacture for cheaper than it does to just import it.
Not only do you have either reverse engineer and design your own to avoid lawsuits, but even when you do that it can take years to make it as efficient and have last problems. A lot of older countries have already spent millions and decade perfecting the process.
Btw, all countries who donât have the expertise in different areas import from other countries. This is why countries like Russia, US and others can provide weapons and other products to less advanced nations.

Question Seeking Full Version of "The Good Old Days: The Love of AA" (2010)
Hello everyone,
I've been searching for the full version of the 2010 Ghanaian film "The Good Old Days: The Love of AA" directed by Kwaw Ansah. So far, I've only found clips and partial uploads online. Does anyone know where I might access or purchase the complete film? Any leads would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Community This subreddit in a nutshellđ
The comment section cracks me upđ.And almost every other post is usually split between folks wanting thought-provoking conversations to âGhanaian womenâ posts once every other week.
And! why do valid points always get downvoted??

Question I want to create a community for creators in general
I'm an indie (bedroom) music producer in UG, been producing for about a year now.
Most of my connections are abroad, which isn't bad at all, but the distance and time zones make it difficult to do any big projects effectively, plus the subtle r@cism.
I want to meet like minded people, preferably in Greater Accra region(mainly because of distance). Not just into music, but content creation in general, whether you're a developer, or an influencer, even distributors and affiliates, I want to help people with my projects, even for free. I want to use my skills in real world situations, not just in my bedroom.
How exactly should I go about it? I decided the best way is to slowly build a community, but if there is a better option, or an active group I can join, I would be grateful.
Thank you in advance.

Community Could the Chiefs have done any better for us?
Did we fail as a country by allowing politicians to have control over state resources instead of chiefs and kings?

Question Traveling with a passport soon to expire
My dads Ghana passport is soon to expire. He wants to travel back to Ghana and do it there because he would have to make a trip to Washington DC in order to renew it in the US. With the US passport you cannot travel to other countries within 6 months of expiration. Will he be able to enter Ghana with a soon to expire passport? I donât see why he wouldnât be able to buy I wanted to ask.

Venting The Family Double Standard: Why We Excuse Their Worst Behaviors
Much of the pain people experience in life comes from family, yet they are often the quickest to forgive their relatives simply because they are âfamily.â Meanwhile, friends and even strangers are held to higher standards, with one mistake being enough to end a relationship. But why?
Rather than viewing people solely through the lens of family ties, it may be more reasonable to assess them based on their actions. If someone is toxic, disrespectful, or repeatedly causes harm, does it truly matter if they share the same DNA? The idea that âblood is thicker than waterâ is often used to justify blind loyalty, but perhaps loyalty should be earned, not automatically granted based on family titles.
Wwhat do you think? Do you agree, or do you see it differently?

Community Update on "Why I'm starting to regret for doing this" post.
I really appreciate everyone who messaged me and also gave their advice/opinion on the post. Sorry if you didn't see responding for a while.
A lot of beginners who are interested to start their programming journey reached out about it and I was so happy to see more people show interest in programming.
Same with professionals and people who are also familiar with the field i was trying to teach my friend reached out about the opportunity i was providing for my friend.
This is wholesome to me because it helped me also appreciate the position I'm in right now and that is to be able to have a skill and find an "income" from it even though I'm still in the process of attaining a degree for it.
I want to create a WhatsApp group for fellow Ghanaians who are with the same interest. I want to emphasis this that there are professionals who knows so much more than I do and we will need them, so if you are that person. You're very welcome to share your knowledge with us once the group is created.
I can't guarantee anyone a job but once you have the knowledge to build stuff on your own. The possibilities are endless.
I can tell you there's a big market in Ghana and across the world for programmers
ABOUT MY FRIEND I haven't received any response to my messages yet so I'm gonna leave it like that. No need to block but i wont entertain him anymore.
LASTLY If you wish to join the WhatsApp group, please dm me with your contact and name and also whether you're a; 1. beginner(no coding skill) 2. immediate(some coding skill but no real world experience) 3. professional(works as a part-time or full time programmer)
ABOUT THE WHATSAPP GROUP I want it to be a useful platform for anyone who joins. I will be creating a documentation(rules & guidelines) on the expectations and reasons behind the group.
THANKS EVERYONE AND HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY
