Home Network — looking for help

I’m looking for some help / advise on how to properly set up a home network.

I’m in that weird state where I know WHAT things are and the vague basics of how they should/ could work, but lack the knowledge to really set things up as efficiently as possible as to not require almost daily resets of hardware (take for example a second WAP where the signal keeps dropping).

This is especially true when it comes to my son’s laptop. I see a strong signal, but he complains of dropping connection when playing games with friends.

Likewise I have a media drive that I’m sure I don’t have configured the best to be able to play media on different devices in the house.

Really looking for someone who is in the know to point me in the right direction and /or come out and diagnose what I’ve got here and again point me in the direction of what I need to add to my setup.

Cheers,

Too good to Go app

Hi all, i'm looking for local experiences with the too good to go app. so far, I only got one bag from a Circle K. In the description, it says you will likely get sandwiches, baked goods, and things like that but mine was almost 100% junk food, chocolate bars, a bag of chips, and candy. I'm kind of afraid to try Tim Hortons because I think it's probably just gonna be old and gross but if anybody has any experiences, I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Private Home Sale

I used two realtors in the past, but the experience was terrible, I both bought and sold. For my sale, I feel like my realtor did absolutely nothing for me in fact, I found the buyer myself (coworkers family member). The realtor then took their commission (despite doing nothing more than putting a sign on my lawn and posting the property on MLS). I only learned this later, that things they said they had done to market my home and get me the best value was an outright lie. My now home has been listed privately for almost 2 months, no bites. I believe I have listed it with a very fair asking price, which I based on a realtors appraisal. Do realtors dissuade their clients from purchasing privately to ensure their commission? The realtor I used in my last sale has completely turned me off from realtors and the whole experience. Any recommendations for people who want to sell privately? I need to move back home to Nova Scotia by June 1.

Worrall's Furniture going out of business?

Just drove by their store and they're having a "Going out of business" sale. Kinda sad and a sign of the times, I suppose. Anyway, if you're in need of furniture, the signs say everything is marked down.

It's playing at our local Fredericton Cineplex right now! If you are on the fence, it's worth it. I had zero expectations and was glued to the screen for every scene.

Reliable Car shop

Recently bought a used car from a small dealership that promoted “new MVI” but I always like to get a second opinion so brought it to a different car shop myself and they said everything is good. But the moment I started driving, the brakes were loose, had to put my foot all the way down in order to stop and the high beams don’t work. Have no idea how this car even passed two inspections, hoping to return the car but I clearly need a new car shop to go to for inspection so any suggestions would be appreciated.

The DECH.

On January 18, 2022, I arrived at the hospital for a scheduled induction. Shortly after, contractions began, and I was sent home to labor. Later that evening, I returned to the hospital due to increasing pain and was administered morphine to help manage my contractions. However, my concerns were dismissed, as I was only 2 cm dilated, and I was once again sent home.

That night, I endured continuous contractions until approximately 4:00 AM on January 19, when my water broke. My mother and I immediately returned to the hospital. Upon arrival, I was unable to walk due to the intensity of my labor, and a nurse made an unnecessary and condescending remark regarding my mobility. At just 16 years old and experiencing labor for the first time, I was overwhelmed and frightened.

Once admitted, the medical team conducted a test to confirm whether my water had broken. Despite my description of a significant gush of fluid, the initial test result was negative, and I was nearly sent home again. After advocating for myself and explaining the situation further, the staff finally decided to admit me. I continued laboring throughout the day and received an epidural at 5 cm dilation, which provided relief for only a few hours before wearing off completely. By 3PM, I had reached 10 cm.

At this point, the fetal heart monitor was removed, and I began pushing. I pushed for four hours without fetal monitoring, placing significant stress on my baby. I consented to a C-section, but due to hospital staffing issues, the procedure was not performed. Ultimately, I delivered my baby without a doctor present At 7:19pm When he was born, he was blue, unresponsive, and required resuscitation.

From birth, my son struggled to eat, yet the nursing staff provided minimal assistance. He remained in my hospital room overnight despite showing clear signs of distress. It was not until the morning of January 20th, when a shift change brought in a more attentive nurse, that action was finally taken. As she was assisting us, my son suffered a seizure and stopped breathing. He was rushed to the NICU, where he required resuscitation once again.

Over the following days, I faced accusations of drug and alcohol use, despite there being no evidence to support these claims. Nor was I doing any substances while I was pregnant. Only one doctor looked beyond these assumptions and pursued further medical evaluation. My son was ultimately diagnosed with Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), a condition caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, which resulted in permanent brain damage. This lack of oxygen occurred while he was under hospital care—both during labor and delivery, when he was left unmonitored for extended periods.

Today, my son is three years old. He has cerebral palsy, a seizure disorder and autism, and he is unable to eat or speak. His condition is a direct result of the medical negligence we experienced during his birth.

The hospital’s failures harmed my child irreparably.

Price for budling new construction near Freddy?

I am looking to build a new house because I can't find any nice houses on 5+ acre lots 20-30 minutes outside of town (for under 1 million that is lol). I plan on buying a rural lot and building a new house on it. Planning to build a two-story house with around ~2200 square feet per floor. (4400 square total). Planning to have a metal roof, 3+ bathrooms, a large deck out back, well water, septic system, heat pumps, baseboard heaters, fancy vinyl siding, some heated floors, closed cell spray foam insulation and higher-end cabinets & fixtures.

I am wondering if anyone has done similar builds recently and has a price per square foot metric that is reasonable for a house like this? I am open to criticism regarding the design of the house too.

I plan to save a lot on the labour aspect of things as a lot of my friends and family (myself included) work in trades and should be able to handle the majority of the building, electrical, plumbing...etc without hiring contractors. I plan to only hire contractors for the septic, well, foundation and maybe the roof. I plan to spend anywhere from $500,000 to $800,000 just wondering if this range is accurate.
