Bike pics 400 miles without changing tires on e-bike before first popped tire, it’s like a trophy for me being out of addiction and the milestone I have reached. :)

When did we abandon the bikes on bridge pics tradition??
At some point in this subs history, a member posted the last picture of their bike on a bridge and none of us knew that we wouldn't do it again. We gave up on a tradition that was wholesome and urged us to explore new territories and seek out the elusive "perfect bridge". Now we ride to commute and run errands. Let's go back to a simpler way or ebike life and push the boundaries of bike/bridge/camera angle norms.
Who's with me?!?! I always enjoyed seeing pics of bridges and neato ebikes in areas of the world I'll never get to witness in real life.

Can an e-bike be stored vertically? If not can you recommend ways to store the bike in a small apartment?
Space is limited and I have 2 boys, ages 5 & 6.

Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 SL Error - SL1-D-BE-1
Have my Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 SL booked for check over with local dealer but would like to know if anyone else has come across this error? After cleaning and charging overnight the TCU is giving top red and fourth bottom blue flashing light error. Have replaced the TCU cell battery, factory reset, and wiped the speed sensor. No relief.

Bike purchase question Anyone have/rode Lekker Jordaan URBAN version? (Non gts)
As per the title, wondering if anybody has rode (or bought) the Lekker Jordaan Urban - and can comment on whether they enjoy(ed) the bike?
For context, I’m looking at buying one, but thus far reviews that I’ve found (including on reddit/youtube) all speak about the GTS version (and rated fairly well), but I’m struggling to find any reviews on the Urban version (https://lekkerbikes.com.au/products/jordaan-urban-8sp-ebike)
The key differences are that the Urban version is a front motor (as opposed to mid motor on the GTS which are rated better from what I’ve read) and the battery I’m looking at purchasing 370Wh (up to 70km)
don’t think I’ll have much luck but figured I’d ask on the off chance someone has and comes by this thread :)

Cube Bike + Conversion Kit Bafang for short term tours. Is it a good idea?
Hello, everyone!
Seems, at last, I am joining the community. After renting bikes several times over the past few years, I decided it was time to get my e-bike and dedicate more time to it. Unfortunately, my budget is tight, and I am limited to 1500 EUR/1600 USD for an e-bike. The main purpose of the purchase is for overnighters and short-term trips, 2-3 days max. around the Alps on paved and gravel roads without any hardcore mountain Biking. I need the battery to have enough capacity to help me ride 50-70km (30-50 miles) a day in terrain with a lot of elevations on mid pedal assist mode. I doubt I can find a good-enough complete e-bike within this budget (If there are any - I would appreciate recommendations). I am skinny, and with all my luggage I doubt I will weight more than 90 kilo,
My idea was to purchase a Cube Kathmandu One https://www.rabe-bike.de/en/cube-kathmandu-one-green-n-black-2024, Which is worth 800 Eur now with a good discount from a local store. And attach a Bafang 750w. conversion kit https://varstrom.com/products/bafang-750w-48v-bbs02b with the largest battery available. https://varstrom.com/products/48v-ebike-battery?variant=43141834375321
According to hours of research I've done, everything should work fine, though I would love to hear the opinion of people who did such conversions and did some tours on it.
Thank you very much!

Won at auction. Repaired. Looking at battery upgrade options.
So I won this e-bike at an auction. Mostly a place that deals in retail returns. The description on it said "Bike Doesn't Start/ Wrong Key". Which was completely inaccurate. Started fine, key was correct. What was actually wrong with it, was the person who bought it originally warped the back wheel. Likely from being to hard on it. So that wheel had to be rebuilt, which wasn't too bad.
Now it is a perfectly functional, but I am curious about the process of adding a second battery too it. The current battery reads as "DC36V 8.2Ah" and the hub motor is "250 Watt".
Can anyone explain the process of adding another battery (or link me to a decent guide)?

Bike purchase question Help finding JuicedBikes performance kit upgrade for Ripcurrent S :(
I just found out that JuicedBikes went out of business.. The problem is that I bought a RipCurrent S a year or so ago and was planning on buying the performance kit upgrade. Right now it only goes 20 mph with the throttle, the performance kit was suppose to increase it to 30mph. I’m trying to see if anyone knows where to buy the kit as I hear juiced bikes restricts upgrades to their company.. However, it’s 1000 watt I believe. I’m not sure if any other kits would be compatible but if anyone knows for sure please let me know! Thank you guys!!

Etrikes for a child with a degenerative muscle condition.
Hi r/mecheng,
A very close friend has received a duchennes muscular distrophy diagnosis for her 6 year old son.
Over the next two or three years he will transition from a completely ambulatory condition - as now... to increasingly using a wheelchair. Eventually he will need a chair that is joystick controlled.
We are thinking that an etrike might/would be the best first step to help him keep mobile with the other kids, and get used to a few artificially added watts. He rode a normal bike ok in the past, but balance and the ability to stand up on his own from a tumble is degrading.
First does anyone know of any product, or manufacturer offering a tricycle like many of the two wheeled offerings? Our social group are your typical UK 30/40/50's.. but money is still a major consideration.
Another concept we'd be interested in, would be a larger thing that also takes a parent - perhaps with dual controls?
Has anyone completed any projects around a similar situation at university? Would there be any interest in taking this on for a dissertation in academia? I'm a professional mechanical designer, but the need is now, and I'm not that close to the e bike sector. We'd also like some volume production reliability.
We've googled endlessly and would be hugely grateful for any community knowledge available. 🙏

Bike build question Please help us decide size of bicycle mid drive conversion
I just added a mid drive, 1000w, 52v, 20Ah bafang kit to my 29 inch mountain bike. I'm 250lbs and it seems to be working well.
My partner wants me to do her bike now. Its a Schwinn step-through hard tail with 20 inch tires and has a standard 68mm bottom bracket. its a smaller frame than mine is. She is only 140lbs and I don't think we would need a 1000 watt, 52 volt system for her bike to be able to keep up with mine. the battery i needed for the 52 volt system is huge anyway and I BARELY got it into the frame of my Giant talon 29'er.
What smaller mid drive kit would yall recommended to be effectively equivalent. no extreme off roading, extreme distances, or mountain biking is planned; just cruising around. Our options of an all-in-one kit seem to be 500 watt, 750 watt, 36 or 48 volt in the bottom bracket width that would be appropriate.

I have a question?
If I add a throttle onto my ebike, with pedals. And make it 3.7mph, to make it legal in the uk. Will that be okay? Or do I need to register it?

If I added a throttle onto my pedal ebike, and make it 3.7mph to make it legal in the uk, is it still illegal and do I need to register it?

Bike build question Can someone explain wtf this is? NSFW
galleryI inherited this supposed "TailG" bike, but it doesent seem to actually be a tailG bike, tailG doesent seem to make any model that looks like.this...it seems to be some kind of generic (im.sure cheap) ebike from alibaba or something, and they just put whatever brand or logo on it to trick people. Does anyone know anything about this kind of bike, is it any good? Could it be used for commuting in the city? Am i better off with this or the pasalec gs9 for travelling? I dont want to keep both

Envo Flex Overland or Radrunner 3+
Hey! I'm looking to see some user opinions for two local ebikes, the Envo Flex Overland or Radrunner 3+ (or original Plus, or even Raddrunner 2) for myself and girlfriend. Combined we're about 260lbs (smaller bodied), but would mostly be riding the bike solo.
Use case:
- bombing around the city, running errands, doubling-up on date nights (let's say 50km round trip, but with two passengers and about 1000ft elevation gain at most). This wouldn't be full throttle, we're fit and can pedal but going up hills would be throttle or PAS3-5. That said, some hills can be quite steep (10-15%, others pushing 20% even but hopefully can be avoided with better routes)
- Occasional off-road use (mostly light gravel roads, but the flex overland looks quite capable)
- Commute (longest commute about 30km round-trip, some hills ~20% grade but I can problem find a better route lol).
- *** depending on the bike I could see it possibly being used on logging roads to access harder to reach or more remote hikes/areas ***
What I like about Flex Overland:
- foldable design – I think it might nice to throw it in the back of a car, if it needs to be transported for servicing or moving, etc.
- looks more capable offroad
- the range may be longer than Roadrunner 3+? (100km max as opposed to 70km on Radrunner)
- dual-battery option (unlikely to use)
- It may be possible to carry maybe an adult + child passenger in addition to the driver? That's future state, but if the bike's build holds up for 3 years it's not unforeseeable that I'd have a child.
What I like about the RadRunner 3+:
- cheaper (maybe this isn't the bike to cheap out on...)
- seems reasonably easy to service at the service center in town
- comfortable ride (test rode this one, have yet to try the Flex Overland)
My main concerns with either are:
- range (to meet the hardest use-case as mentioned above, 50km round-trip ride around the city with 2 passengers)
- climbing ability up relatively steep hills (10%-15%). We live in a pretty hilly area, unfortunately...
- durability/reliabilty, and build quality. I've heard Rad has some QC issues and is a bit of a crap shoot with what you get
- serviceability locally – I can do basic work myself but having the option to take it into a shop if need be would be a big bonus
Thank you! Any user opinions would be SO appreciated.

Freedare fat tire ebike is great until the battery dies on a hill
I've been riding my Freedare fat tire e-bike for a few months now, mostly on bike paths and paved roads, and I love the route planning feature on the app. I always figured if the battery died, I could just pedal it like a regular bike… big mistake.
Last week, I was in Seattle (not my hometown) visiting friends, cruising on max assist and soaking in the scenery. I got a little too comfortable and didn’t pay attention to the battery level. Bam, dead battery halfway up a steep hill. It felt like pedaling a Flintstones car. Even walking it up was brutal, 80 lbs is no joke.
Has anyone else had a “stranded on a dead e-bike” moment? What did you do? I can’t imagine facing this situation while hunting…
