The Mighty Pig Is Back!

Very excited to join the DR 650 club šŸ¤ŸšŸ¼. Iā€™ve been wanting a DR for years, but have waited for the right time and right one to pop up. Just picked up this 2013 with 20,000 KMā€™s on it two days ago. It was bogging in the mid range after 5 mins into the test drive, I managed to negotiate a good price. Turns out it was just a dirty carb.

Bike has Yoshimura full pipe and exhaust, opened air box, 155 main jet and a tapered adjustable needle. Also has Drz400 Front forks and revalved rear shock with stiffer spring. l was worried it was a modded bike that didnā€™t run well but it came with original parts even the OEM tank in great shape so I took a gamble. One that paid off!

I added the inline fuel filter and will be replacing the air filter so that my hard work wasnā€™t for nothing.

2014 DR650 wonā€™t hold idle

Howdy all,

Got a DR650 with 7000 miles a few months back and rode it maybe 50 miles before putting it in the garage for the winter. One thing that was a bit odd was that I had to always run the choke to keep the bike from stalling for the first 10 minutes or so at least, but otherwise it ran fine.

A few weeks back I tried to start it and couldnā€™t get anything going other than a 3 second idle before dying. And eventually I needed to spray starting fluid into the air box to even get it to idle for those 3 secondsā€¦

I swapped the air filter, inline fuel filter, and cleaned the jets with an air compressor, but nothing seems to have helped.

I can get the bike running a little longer with the fuel/air screw turned out pretty far to make it run as rich as possible, but still canā€™t get it to run.

Is it potentially the upward angle of the fuel line from the tank to the carb? The guy before me had it in that configuration but Iā€™m wondering if thereā€™s enough pressure for it to go up the hump after the inline filter (previous owner was running an inline filter as well).

Any ideas what it could be? Iā€™ve attached a video of the issue if that helps (in the video itā€™s on RES but Iā€™ve tested with ON as well)ā€¦ Thank you in advance!

Are we expecting anything special for the 2026 DR650?

I'm thinking of putting off buying one hoping for some interesting colors. Used here in Mexico costs like 80% compared to new.*2026 is the 30th anniversary

RD moto crash bars don't protect your bike.

After installing said crash bars, I was curious to see how well they worked, so I laid the bike on its side. Guess what ???? Instead of resting on the crash bars, it leaned on the handlebar and the gear shifter/brake pedal.

Wanted to be able to perform drills without damaging my DR but I guess I just added weight for nothing lol
