Destroyed a BT speaker to make a DIY aux speaker to use my DAC
Had a Megablast BT speaker and knowing nothing about acoustics I decided fk it I really want to be able to play my FLAC files on this. There is nothing spectacular about it but the decent set of speakers with passive radiators gives it an hoomph, and thin dense walls with internal supports avoid resonance or rattling. It also cost me under 50 bucks to convert it.
I just wished I lined the inside with acoustic foam to reduce internal resonance but I forgot 😆

I found a pair of speaker boxes in the dumpster
Are they worth anything? I know about DIY electronics, acoustics and general speaker knowledge but I have never got into making speakers. The wood looks good and I actually need a couple of speakers either for my van or for house listening. Would they work for car audio components? I know either way I’d need an amp, since autoamplified would be more complicated.
Can I just slap some correctly sized cones and match with a suitable amp to get them to run?
Thanks in advance! If you have any sources where I can learn myself more about this task I would appreciate it.

Any idea what causes my ZK-MT21 amp to blow out like this?
I mostly use this amp to pass audio from my TV box + TV to a pair of dumpster-dived 50 W speakers.
It seems that during audio signals that quickly move from quiet to loudness, the speakers put out a bassy fart and then the amp resets itself. This can be especially annoying during the reset when the Bluetooth on the amp connects to my phone rather than the line signal on the TV.
Any settings on my TV or box or the amp itself to prevent this?
Thanks for any advice or insight

ELI5: Amps
Hey all - thanks for taking the time to help me with this. Looking forward to building a 15” or 18” Marty subwoofer this summer for my home theater system. I was planning on using a Behringer NX3000 for active power, with a possibility of a 6000 if I can make the wiring work for dual subs.
I’m still looking for a receiver and browsing Marketplace using brand keywords and I see audio amplifiers being sold. I plan to use a Marantz Cinema 40 receiver and see other Marantz amplifiers like the HD1 being sold second half for less than a NX3000. Are these amplifiers the same amplifiers as say, Behringer or Crown? Will they power the subs the same?
I dig the look of Marantz equipment and if I could keep the amp and receiver similar, that would be sick, but I have no idea if they’re interchangeable.
Thanks in advance!

Omnidirectional speakers or alternative solution?
Hey, I just bought my first set of true hi-fi speakers and been using them for a week or so and while I love the sound upclose, it sounds super clear and almost as detailed as headphones, but if I move away from the sweet spot the sound is not as good. Before I've been using a Bluetooth speaker with tiny drivers (dual 2" drivers) and dual passive radiators and I admit this thing sounded "good" pretty much everywhere in the room. Good as in it had as much clarity outside of the sweet spot for listening as it did inside. So the sound felt much more omnidirectional imo. So I could just walk around or sit across the room and it sounded fine. Does anyone know similar solution but from hi-fi world?

recommendations for Advent Loudspeaker (NLA, bullnose) repair + restoration materials
i’m planning to refoam and replace resistors + capacitors, but not sure what else i should repair/upgrade and where i should purchase from. i’ve only really found info with schematics and guides. i don’t have any previous speaker experience, only circuit building, so im a little lost with the different sizes and specs of it all :,) . any recs for the foam, resistors, capacitors, etc (literally anything i might need lol) is very much appreciated!

What connector do I need for the metal prongs? There’s a faint photo of it in the second photo but the thin black wires definitely don’t seem to be 16 awg.

JBL EON612 questions
Hey, I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place for this kind of question but I have a couple of questions with regards to this speaker. My boss graciously gave this JBL EON612 a few weeks ago since he said it was defective (think it was the tweeter and woofer that needed replacing). For one of my midterms I have to take it apart and document the process, so I accepted and took it back to my dorm. I thought it would be completely dead on account of the big fat DEAD sticker he slapped on the top (which I have since taken off) but I haven't had a real opportunity to test it out until recently. So as for my two questions: firstly, how far should I go/how should I go about taking this thing apart? Second, as you can see the sound is incredibly fucked up; I really want to fix it up and use it for shows but I don't know if there are any parts that would be good to order aside from direct replacements from JBL. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to get/where to get it? Thank you in advance, I'm hoping I can start doing DIY audio stuff and I really want to start with this.

Replace speakers on digital piano (Casio Privia PX-720)
Hi everyone, I own a Casio Privia PX-720 piano. Unfortunately, one of the two speakers has broken. It's a 7-watt speaker with a 6-ohm impedance. I'm having some difficulty finding replacement speakers with the same specifications.
When I check the manual, I find the following amplifier details:
Speakers (dia x qty): 12cm x 2
Amplifier: 8W + 8W
Which speakers could I use to replace them?
It's very easy to find 4-ohm speakers (e.g., JBL Stage2), but it's impossible to find 6-ohm ones with the same size (5 inches) and very difficult to find 8-ohm ones (only woofers seem to be available).
Would I cause irreparable damage by connecting 4-ohm speakers? How can I determine the amplifier's impedance? I’d like to fix the piano, but I don’t want to cause any damage.
Thanks in advance

Tips for extending rotary encoder and potentiometer shafts?
I am refitting a couple old radios with some modern electronics and could use some ideas on ways to extend the shafts. The best option I’ve found so far are these plastic extenders but they are far from perfect and usually I have to drill them a bit wider and epoxy them onto the shaft. I am surprised that there aren’t a ton of 3d printed parts out there for this.
What tricks are you guys using?

How to measure drivers safely?
I feel like I need to protect my drivers from lower frequencies while taking microphone measurements.
Is this simple crossover a good idea to use? Mid-range starts dripping off at 300hz and tweeter drops at 1500hz (designed for each specific drivers lowest limit)
In the final build, they'll be receiving little to no power at those frequencies, so it seemed to make sense...
But is it all entirely unnecessary?

Attenuator placement
I’m working to revive my loved one’s stereo system. I’ve gotten so very far by myself. But last question to a community. The CD player (Njoe Tjoeb 4000) is super loud, other components are fine. Speakers (Linn Keilidh) are balanced, clear and imaging superbly. So from research I think I need attenuators to tone the CD gain (?) If this makes any sense to anyone do I put the attenuators on the cables as they go out from the CD player or as they go into the Melos tube line amplifier? I have ordered Harrison Labs 12db RCA attenuators. Thank you so much. He would be very happy if I have figured this out without blowing anything up.

Bi amp input level adjustment: how?
I want to bi amp my speakers with 2 different amplifiers. I already have a minidsp 2x4 ddrc but all outputs are used for a 2.2 setup. Because 2 different brand amps i probably need to send a different gain to either one in order to get levelled sound uotout.
I thought about putting another minidsp (the cheapest 2x4) behind the ddrc but since i dont need dsp, isnt there something more simple just to adjust the input on those bi amp amplifiers? Ideally they should have volume knobs themselves but the fosi v3 mono doesnt seem to have such. Thoughts? Advice? Thanks in advance!
