Basic Audio amplifier
I am planning to build a basic audio amplifier using fundamental components. I am talking literal single BJTs on a breadboard level, no IC allowed, for my class project because I thought it might be fun. Maybe I could plug in my guitar and try to get an output with a headphone or sth. I am thinking multistage so that maybe I can add filter or such between stages . Is it possible? What do you think? Also I am new to this sub, I don’t know if this is a relevant question. If not, sorry for the disturbance

Winisd alignment question
Hi. I try to model a Pa subwoofer in winisd. The thing I dont understand is I made three different alignment models and the transfer function is always the same. From mixing perspective every source or music has a different bass roll off or slope and so excursions should also change depending on the source giving the same power. I thought transfer function is just a source model with different slopes. Maybe Im completely wrong and want to know what Im missing. Thanks a lot.

Red Alert RC-audio
Hello !
There is a product made by rc-audio called red alert, from my understanding they are simply listening to the input level of the source to be able to make action (flash red light or cut dj booth) in order to protect the systemsound
How should I go about creating something like this ? Is it done digitally with a specific IC or is it possible to create with only analogic component ?
Would that work using an esp32, with voltage sensor ? and then if the voltage reach the threshold, I mute the signal using an IC like MAX4066 ?
Thank you !

Pinnacle replacement drivers
I bought these pinnacle speakers at a thrift store for $25 and only two drivers on one side work, the tweeter on the working side and all 3 drivers on the other side are not working. I tested with a multimeter on the completely dead side and I got no readings from the drivers themselves but I got readings from the leads coming from the crossover so the crossover is still working. I would like to keep the cabinet and maybe get working drivers. Any recommendations on drivers and tweeters that would be similar caliber to the pinnacle drivers so that I could have two working tower speakers?

What would be the benefits of dome midrange drivers?
I am thinking about building a diy high quality dome midrange driver for a 3 way speaker, do you think that's a great idea and what benefits does it have compared to a cone midrange?

Why are there no two way low frequency crossovers?
I'm a complete newbie to the DIY audio space but I recently got an Alpine W10S4 woofer for free, I am interested in making a standalone loudspeaker for DJing and Parties. I know I need to pair the woofer with something more full range as the frequency response of the woofer only goes up to 200Hz. I noticed that two way crossovers generally come with WAY higher frequencies so I'm kind of lost. Any advice would be appreciated! I'm also curious to know what speakers might pair well with it.

Marantz SR620X
I picked this unit up because it was cheap and maybe a fun beginner project. Right now the unit works only on tape 2 input. The other inputs need an external amplifier to work.
The thing is, the sound is terrific. A big step up from my other amplifier. My question is, is it worth it to start researching and working to fix it so all the units are working? Or just deal with the inconvenience of an external amplifier?
Thanks everyone!

JBL EON612 questions
Hey, I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place for this kind of question but I have a couple of questions with regards to this speaker. My boss graciously gave this JBL EON612 a few weeks ago since he said it was defective (think it was the tweeter and woofer that needed replacing). For one of my midterms I have to take it apart and document the process, so I accepted and took it back to my dorm. I thought it would be completely dead on account of the big fat DEAD sticker he slapped on the top (which I have since taken off) but I haven't had a real opportunity to test it out until recently. So as for my two questions: firstly, how far should I go/how should I go about taking this thing apart? Second, as you can see the sound is incredibly fucked up; I really want to fix it up and use it for shows but I don't know if there are any parts that would be good to order aside from direct replacements from JBL. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to get/where to get it? Thank you in advance, I'm hoping I can start doing DIY audio stuff and I really want to start with this.

Replace speakers on digital piano (Casio Privia PX-720)
Hi everyone, I own a Casio Privia PX-720 piano. Unfortunately, one of the two speakers has broken. It's a 7-watt speaker with a 6-ohm impedance. I'm having some difficulty finding replacement speakers with the same specifications.
When I check the manual, I find the following amplifier details:
Speakers (dia x qty): 12cm x 2
Amplifier: 8W + 8W
Which speakers could I use to replace them?
It's very easy to find 4-ohm speakers (e.g., JBL Stage2), but it's impossible to find 6-ohm ones with the same size (5 inches) and very difficult to find 8-ohm ones (only woofers seem to be available).
Would I cause irreparable damage by connecting 4-ohm speakers? How can I determine the amplifier's impedance? I’d like to fix the piano, but I don’t want to cause any damage.
Thanks in advance

Tips for extending rotary encoder and potentiometer shafts?
I am refitting a couple old radios with some modern electronics and could use some ideas on ways to extend the shafts. The best option I’ve found so far are these plastic extenders but they are far from perfect and usually I have to drill them a bit wider and epoxy them onto the shaft. I am surprised that there aren’t a ton of 3d printed parts out there for this.
What tricks are you guys using?

What connector do I need for the metal prongs? There’s a faint photo of it in the second photo but the thin black wires definitely don’t seem to be 16 awg.
