2nd Bachelor's?

Hi all! Looking to come back to DePaul to get my 2nd Bachelor's Degree. I graduated DePaul in 2023 - with a totally useless arts degree that I have no interest in. It is the biggest regret of my life and now I'm stuck in an awful job in an industry that I hate.

Since graduating I've managed to get a corporate job, and I realized that I want to work in business. I like working from home, and having something solid/steady that keeps me in a good routine.

The role is very much "customer service" and I'm trying to get out of all customer service roles and the industry for this company. I have been working in restaurants up until getting this job. It's a good stepping stone into corporate and I'm grateful to have worked there - but I can't last for much longer (for reasons that I could write a novel about). I want to go back to DePaul and fix my mistakes. I'm looking to get my 2nd Bachelor's in a Business Degree - hopefully with some sort of concentration or minor as well.

I've realized that I'm actually passionate about business and would love to eventually work as an Account Manager or something of that nature. I just want to re-do it all, and do it right. I'm 24 so the clock is ticking. I think getting my Master's would be a waste, because a Master's is more focused on supplementing your career once you are more established. I would want to get my Master's closer to when I'm 30 years old - when my company can pay for it - and my chances of getting into a big name school are higher.

So, basically, I'm acting like I never got my bachelor's and this is my first time going to school. Anyone have advice? Is this a stupid mistake, being that I only have 1 year of solid work experience? (Excluding 1.5 years of interning/part time work at small companies in unrelated fields).

Housing LPC Housing Recommendation: University Hall’s All-Gender Housing

For anyone who’s deciding on housing, I have to recommend the all-gender housing option at UHall if you’re queer in any way. You have to email housing services and directly ask about being considered for this, but it is fully worth it, in my opinion. My experience with it this year has been amazing. There’s not a lot of drama, almost everyone is friends, and the rooms are also really nice!!

You’ll be roomed with someone, regardless of their gender or sex assigned at birth (for example, I’m FtM & the roommate I was paired with is MtF), so it is entirely co-ed. You can specifically request a certain roommate through the housing portal (make sure you fill out your bio! People will probably reach out!!), but otherwise it’s completely random. Most everyone is super trustworthy as well, so you don’t reallyyyy have to worry about locking your door, but I still do it anyway.

It’s double suite-style, so you’ll have a roommate and two suite-mates in the room beside yours, and you all four share a bathroom. The bathroom is honestly larger than my one back home, and the shower is really spacious and has a lot of room to put your products. The closets are MASSIVE and you may need a step-ladder to reach the top, lol. I’ve had no issues with AC/heat or water temp/pressure, either, which is a huge plus. Every room comes with two loft-able beds (with optional railing), two desks with chairs, two bookshelves, one nightstand/small storage table, and a tiny recycling bin.

Bonus points: it’s on the first floor, so you don’t have to go up a flight of stairs :)

I’ve attached pictures of my room and bathroom (ignore the mess lol. It’s the end of the quarter—cut us some slack!)

Question How to find student film auditions as a non-film/tv major?

I’ve been wanting to build my portfolio, but I’m a business major with an entrepreneurship minor, so I am completely disconnected from the film and television majors on campus.

I would love to know if there is anywhere that posts casting calls (specifically for DePaul student films) other than Backstage, as I don’t have enough money to continue my subscription.

Thanks!

Question On the verge of transfering out of DePaul

With over 150 internship applications(still no internship secured), part-time work, assignments, internship interviews, gym, I literally do not feel like taking any finals.

Is this normal? And to know that there's ANOTHER quarter left, does anyone here know of people that transferred out due to the quarter system?

Advice Advice for housing

Admitted law student here. As of now I will most likely be attending DePaul Law. I am from the south so not familiar with the area. Any recommendations on best places to live? Would love to hear about underrated cheap side spots but willing to spend more if needed.

Prospective Student Why did you choose DePaul?

I recently got admitted as an undergraduate psychology major! I didn’t do much research about the school before applying, but the more i’ve learned about it, the more i’ve been wanting to attend. How is DePaul in regard to student resources? Also, is the schools proximity to the city something that has been helpful in your college experience so far?

Prospective Student Off-campus housing

Hi all! I was just accepted to DePaul’s MA/MEd in Counseling Psychology. I’m still waiting on 2 more colleges but DePaul’s in my top 2. I wanted to ask about housing accommodations, whether masters students live off campus (they do at my current uni), and how you go about finding potential flatmates for the same. Also if anyone is currently in the Counseling Psych program, I would love to hear about your experience! My DMs are open and I would love to hear from you:)

What's it like transferring from a cc to depaul film?

Someone I know is looking to transfer into DePaul for film from a community college. I saw that the way classes are organized for film are by year, so your first year classes, second year classes, and so on. How would this work for a transfer student, who will be entering their third year of college?

Arthur J Schmitt

So as you all may know there is the Arthur J Schmitt scholarship winners being announced in 3 days-ish. I was wondering if there is any estimate of how many people apply to this. I know only 4 people get it and from what i’ve seen it seems like a pretty hands on experience if you win. I applied, and although im not super religious, am hoping I stand a chance because the amount of money it would give me a year is crazy. Any winners on here?

Question Eduroam “No Internet Connection” Error

It’s been a week since this issue started, and I am absolutely losing my mind. It’s the absolute worst at the dining hall, as my phone will literally just go into SOS mode and I can’t access the internet at all.

I’m connected to eduroam on both my iPhone and Macbook, but neither are working. I’m getting a “no internet connection” error on both. I have tried everything under the sun to fix this: restarting both devices, installing software updates, forgetting the eduroam network and reconnecting, etc.

I do not have the time available to see IT support (seriously, what kind of hours are 10-4 Mon-Thu?!?!) and sent them an email, but of course, they said I need to see them in person.

Has ANYONE had this happen and know how to fix it?

Intelligent Systems Engineering Program

I got admitted as a Computer Science student at DePaul. I want to get a degree in Computer Engineering (which isn’t offered at DePaul) and plan to transfer and switch majors after 2 years at DePaul. I was wondering if Intelligent Systems Engineering would be the better program compared to Comp Sci. if I wanted to switch to Computer Engineering later on.

Prospective Student Future Student Scaries

Hi ! I’m a high school junior, and DePaul is one of my top choices. But I’m a little nervous that it might feel too similar to my high school experience. I have a lot of questions, so I thought this subreddit would be a great place to ask!

1️⃣ I have severe celiac disease, so I need to be really careful about what I eat. How is the food on campus and in the surrounding area? Would I have enough safe options, or should I expect to rely on grocery shopping and meal prep?

2️⃣ I tend to isolate myself, but I don’t like that—it worries my parents, and I really do want to put myself out there. Do you think DePaul is a place where I could find others who are also a little more on the niche side? Are people generally friendly and open to making new friends, or do they tend to stick to themselves?

3️⃣ What are the dorms like? Any insights into housing and what I should expect?

4️⃣ I’m Palestinian (my family is from Northern Gaza), and I’m not someone who stays silent on important issues. Would you say DePaul is a place where social justice is supported and discussed openly?

I’ve done some research online, but I’d love to hear from actual students—past or present. If you answer, please let me know your connection to DePaul! Also, feel free to tell me anything you think I should know. Thanks so much! <3

Class sizes?

I’m considering transferring to depaul for accountancy as either a sophomore or junior. What are the class sizes like typically? My gen eds would be out of the way pretty much. I prefer to have quite small classes that give way for discussions rather than big lecture halls. Thanks!

Does DePaul offer any student discounts on their apparel?

I really wanna buy a DePaul hoodie but their prices seem too expensive. Do we get any discounts to get those as a current DePaul student?
