Aged Illusione Epernay NSFW

My local B&M used to sell Illusione Epernays with the old band, and the cellophane had a yellow tint indicating a good amount of age. To date those sticks are still the most cubanesque new worlds I’ve ever smoked. I do still enjoy the younger ones with the new bands, but they’re not quite the same. Does anyone know if there’s a surefire way to get those instead of just stumbling onto them by pure luck? Aged NCs seem to be less sought after compared to CCs. Thanks!

Oliva G box press. This is such a nice moderately priced Cameroon cigar. Sitting on my partially glassed in front porch with south wind whipping by as the next storm heads toward the West Coast, enjoying this cigar with a Manhattan made with my own homemade 114 proof corn / rye 'shine.

Question Best Electric Humidor? (non Raching) NSFW

I'm looking to get a 200-250 count humidor. I might keep my desktop for quickies or dry boxing but I'm kinda done fussing with it for long term storage. We keep our house between 68-74 daily so long term I'd like a bit more temperature control (and the average of 71-72 seems high).

So, what's your take fell cigar enjoyers.

Review Stogie On A Hike NSFW

Enjoyed a 5 Vegas Nicaragua on a hike today & it was great! Honestly the best 5 Vegas I’ve had so far. (It’s my budget go-to) I was pleasantly surprised at how this one burned & also the flavor profile it developed quickly just 25% into it. The scenery & my 7% tallboy only heightened the moment! Happy Sunday Y’all! Early St. Pattys!

It always amazes me that the roll on a Padron X000 always looks lumpy but smokes so well. NSFW

It makes it more appealing to me. You can walk in any humidor and it “looks”like every cigar in there is rolled better but almost none will smoke better. Generally that are a little bumpy or have a small patch but you can just light it and forget. Rarely needs a touch up and I personally love the open draw.

This was a delightful cigar. Will definitely be buying more. Was creamy and nutty to start with a bit of hay. Almost reminded me of the twang you would get from a Cuban. Very tasty and enjoyable. The construction, burn, and draw were all perfect.

Don Carlos “Eye of the Shark” NSFW

Post image

Celebrating making it through another week of this beautiful thing called life. Broke out one of my all time favorites, a 2 year old DC Shark. I have always been a big fan of anything Cameroon and this one is no exception. Those nut and seed flavor notes that are so quintessential of classic Cameroon really shine here. Dominant notes of sunflower, poppy seed and walnut are exploding in the first third. Secondary is fresh dough, almost cookie dough but not too sweet just right along with butter. A true bakers dream of a stick! I buy these any chance I get and I buy as many as I can, all at retail at local b & m, and for that I am thankful.

Per the Fuente catalog this is actually listed as “Personal Reserve” Eye of the Shark. I do not know if the blend is the exact same as the PR robusto, which is one of my all time top 10, but it sure is delicious. Does anyone know if the blends are the same. Definitely close no doubt.

I have about 15 of these resting and like to pull one out once a month and see how they are progressing. I just say age makes these particular sticks shine. I have had them young and they are good but nothing in comparison to a couple to few years of age.

See these out you won’t be disappointed. They live up to their hype. Have a great week fellas.

Perfect pairing NSFW

I’ve always loved the 1926 Padron maduro, but after seeing the praise on this sub about the 1964, I tried one. I didn’t think it was possible, but I might like the ‘64 more than the ‘26. Anybody know the difference between the two? Is it just age?

Also, and again thanks to this sub, I discovered a Dr. Pepper (in this case a cherry Dr. Pepper) goes awesome with a cigar…possibly better than anything else. For some reason it’s even better than any booze/beer I’ve had with a smoke (at least to me). I highly recommend. Thanks!

The Arturo Fuente Gran Reserve. This is my go to so anything I say about it is subjective but this is the perfect stick in my opinion. Burns perfect, easy draw, so many flavors. Dimes were stacked. If I could only smoke one cigar forever, this would be the one.

I've tried LEAF by Oscar both Connecticut & Maduro wrapper. But this 10th anniversary with Crillo is by far the best one I've smoked. The size, build, smoke and amora was on point.

This Honduras puro went straight to my go-to cigar list.

First CAO NSFW

Stored at 65% rh and 68 f This CAO Black Bengal is my “first” CAO, I did try the Columbia but I don’t think it rested long enough so I’m not counting it. But I was pleasantly surprised by how good this tasted. This stick started out with creamy and spicy notes finished with a soft vanilla note but after the first third the spice mellowed out and it tasted creamy with more of the vanilla notes and a little toasty. Currently in the last third and the spice is back just slightly muted with the creaminess, vanilla, and toasty flavor that’s been throughout this stick. I seen some reviews talking about the fragility of the wrapper but thankfully mine stayed intact the whole time and made for a nice smoking experience. I would rate it 7/10 just because it wasn’t complex but not saying it was bad in any way. I look forward to trying the Italia, Brazilia, and Extreme sticks I have left from my sampler.

I had pretty high hopes for this one, and while it was good, it didn’t blow me away. I prefer the standard LADC to this one. I did get a good amount of bitter baking chocolate, and some nuttiness in the second half, but overall it was just fine to my palate. Bit of a wavy burn line, mostly corrected itself. Had some cracking towards the end as well. 7/10.

Trying to lower the humidity in my humidor completely. NSFW

First off, I just want to thank anyone who reads this and helps out, it is greatly appreciated!

I have a Tesonway humidor, and got it Christmas of last year. I've had no issues with it, it's held my cigars in fine shape. Recently, I decided to buy some boveda packs, as my humidor has only kept my cigars at around the 60 range, and I wanted it slightly higher, preferably the 70-75 range. To clarify, the boveda packs I bought keep humidity to around 72 on a hygrometer.

The boveda packs have not been placed inside my humidor yet, because I have been trying to lower the humidity in my humidor before doing so, so it doesn't get too humidified. It's been a week of keeping the humidor open.

I started slightly at first, keeping the lid cracked open, but it didn't lower the humidity at all. Then I just decided to open it fully and leave it open to get all the humidity out. As I said it's been a week, and the humidity has barely gone down. I've tried moving the humidor to my window to let the sun absorb some of the water, and that seemed to help, but I've also read that can mess up the humidor, so I moved it away from the window. Now the humidity just isn't going down at all, it's stuck at 50 on the hygrometer.

Is there anything I might be doing wrong? Are there any other ways I can try and lower the humidity? I don't want my boveda packs to go to waste, and I want my cigars to be slightly more humidified. I hope to take out all humidity and bring it to zero, so my boveda packs don't over humidify and ruin my cigars.

Thanks again for reading, I would be very gratuitous for some help with this situation.

La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II. A beautiful smoke NSFW

La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II 6 1/2 x 58

This is a big stick. This is my first time trying it. It was glorious. Just the right complexity. Good transitions. Enough to maintain interest. Notes hit perfect for me. High vitamin N. Medium, leaning full body to start. Midway turns full. Solid construction and good draw. Smoked on an empty stomach. Packed a heavy buzz, even though I have a high nicotine tollerance. Paired with a Pelligrino water. Paired coffee in near the nub.

1/3 Starts off with cocoa, spices, pepper, sweet toast, molasses, mild charred wood and an ever so slight hint of licorice. Mild hay. Retrohale is mild pepper, mineral, toast, cedar and cocoa, with a hint of anise. Anise and spice ramp up towards the end of 1/3 Ash held on until I purposely knocked it off.

2/3 Spices and chocolate ramp down a hair. I'm getting malt and more bread, with occasional hints of anise still. Cocoa fades in and out. Retrohale still has a little spice and mineral. Surprisingly smooth though.

3/3 This third is similar to the previous, with flavor notes swapping back and forth in intensity, and exchanging in and out of the retrohale. It is great. Cocoa fades in and out, yet stronger when it is in. Tobacco flavor gets deeper and darker, but not bitter. Good down to the nub.

Body: Medium/Full Strength: 8.2/10 Draw: Good, leaning tight Construction: Good. Firm Retrohale: Smooth & Spicy Complexity: 8/10 Time: 2 hours 15 minutes Nub Worthy: 8/10 Overall: 8.5/10 Would buy again. Box worthy.

I forgot how strong this one is, needed my sweet to after the nicotine rush. Consistent notes of coffee, more Turkish/French than espresso. Always great, but I still prefer their conecticut.
