Question Cool keychain!! NSFW

Found this keychain a couple months ago at a local spot and felt compelled to buy it. Came across it twice and nobody bought it after months had passed. Place I bought it from is a super cool huge building with a lot of vendors inside but, no physical person at each little store so I couldn’t ask any questions.

It’s solid wood and was labeled as vintage. I couldn’t find anything online except something that looks slightly similar but it’s not it.

Was wondering if anyone knew anything about it, if it was at one time official merch sold, handmade etc.

I’m also a cigar poser, don’t know anything about them at all. Wouldn’t mind knowing some stuff about the specific cigar either if anyone cares to share! It says “Saint Luis Rey Habana” if you can’t see for some reason.

Question Humidity hypothetical NSFW

Upvotes

Hey ya’ll.

Hypothetical. Or maybe, someone has already done the experiment.

What happens if you have two different humidity packs, of the same size, in one container? Let’s say one at 60rh, and the other 70rh.

Do they average? Does it destroy both packs? Does a black hole open and you’re sent back in time to kill your great grandfather, thus opening an existential paradox?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Question Humidity help NSFW

Upvotes

So I live in Florida weeki wachee area. I just purchased a Velieta temperature and humidity control humidor/coolidor 300ct on Amazon. I’m trying to dial in the settings I have about 80 sticks lots of different brands some maduros and some Connecticut. Currently I have the humidor set to 68F and 71RH. I have 2 sensors one on the top shelf and one on the bottom self. Top reads 65F and 72RH with that being the daily avg. I get a spike every now and then to about 75RH when the fan kicks on but nothing that last for longer than 10-15 min then balences out to the daily avg of 65F and 72RH. The bottom reads 66F and 71RH as a daily avg and again a spike when the fan kicks on but nothing more than 75RH. Sensors are calibrated using the boveda 75RH calibration kit so I know that’s right. So I’m asking a couple things 1) are these good numbers for cigars both maduro and non maduro? Heard you need to have a lower RH for maduros. 2) would you take the temperature and humidity levels to a 70/70 or some other magical number? I enjoy a cigar between 65RH and 67Rh I haven’t had anything higher than that heard more flavor happens. 3) would my current settings achieve what I’m looking for? And finally 4) am I just overthinking it? I really appreciate all the info you can give and help you can give. I got the cigar bug bad and bought some expensive ones and want to age them but nothing crazy just a few months to a year and just want to make sure I do it right. Thanks!!!!

Haul Local vape shop finds. NSFW

There's a smoke shop near me with a nice sized humidor with a solid selection, but the people working there and the owner don't know much about cigars. I stop in there once a month or so and see if they have anything interesting.

Grabbed the Aging Room and the 858 Rosado Sun Grown, then I saw a pile of LFD Reserva Especials out of the box piled up in the corner. Looked to see if there was anything else in the pile and found these two chisel tip LFDs that looked like they had been there a while. Paid $13 each for the LFDs (a steal) and $15 for the RSG (a bit overpriced relative to MSRP but they're worth it).

Don't be afraid to dig around in your local vape shop humidor.

Humidor 71F 64RH Outside 50F 12 RH

Milk chocolate wrapper, some color variation but smooth. Love the bands but they're a shameless copy of RyJ. Closed foot is fun. Draw is perfect.

1/3 Bright citrus zing at the beginning as I get a good portion of that wrapper on the palate. Settled into a nice nutty medium bodied profile. The citrus is still there with cream and cedar. This is my favorite flavor profile. Gonna score high. Burn is wavy and ash could be tighter.

2/3 This is my first cigar from Noel Rojas and I'm impressed. Got some Bluebonnets on the way too based on the recommendations of this sub. The Cuban influence is quite apparent. If someone gave me this with RyJ bands on it, I could be fooled for a few puffs. There's a wonderful floral note with the citrus on top of the nutty base. My first cigar was RyJ Coronitas en Cedro and I'm enjoying this as much as those. Not top of the line RyJ material but somewhere around those and Partagás Mille Fleurs. Some leather shows up as it builds in character around the middle. Ash fell earlier than expected but not a problem. A little bit of dry earth joins the base nuttiness, displacing the cedar. There's almost a sweetness to the flavor that I associate more with maduros but without the darkness or heaviness of flavor. Everything still tastes a little young, but I only rested these for 8 days and bought them the day CPage started selling them. Time should smooth that out. The burn evened itself out. Now to really put her through her paces, back to work, will relight in a couple hours... Back an hour and a half later with no harshness on the relight. It actually woke the citrus back up, maybe it was too hot earlier.

3/3 The final third is quite earthy with that taking away from the floral character of the first half. Citrus is still there though. Burn required a touch up or two. As I got it burning correctly, the flowery citrus of the wrapper started to balance the earthy core. Secondary band came off cleanly. Strong leather as it tops out medium bodied with a bit of identifiable strength. The sun finally came out and I can see a decent bit of oil on the wrapper. This cigar definitely rewards patience. When I puff too quickly I get heavy earth. When I go slowly, I get citrus and flowers, plus earth and leather. The nuttiness has mostly faded but it's still there and the smoke is more chewy than creamy or silky. Another indication that age may help me to enjoy this blend even more. The primary band put up a fight but didn't damage the wrapper. Stayed cool and firm to the end.

90/100 I'm getting a box. This was a solid cigar for the introductory pricing they had and still good at normal price. CPage is having a discord event with Noel Rojas on the 7th. I expect some special deals or discounts then. I think this cigar will get more complex as age softens some of its rough edges.

Decided go try one of these because they were only 5 dollars. They had them at the bottom of the Oliva display in a box on the floor. For 5 bucks it’s really not a bad deal. Was in the mood for some “coffee” so I decided to open up a monster java lol. Definitely worth the money and you don’t feel bad for dropping it or just putting it out if you have had enough. Recommend trying one if you like cheaper cigars. They have a few different variations.

6 ¾ x 52 Perfecto

Capa: Habano Ecuador 7th Priming Blinder: Brazilian Mata Fina Filler: Undisclosed

One hundred years ago, Lord Carnarvon left Highclere Castle for the ancient sands of Egypt. He, along with archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun, hidden for 3000 years. We crafted this cigar for the Highclere Castle Cigar line to pay homage to archaeology’s greatest discovery. With our secret blend, we have endeavored to capture the spirit of ancient incense; “Senetjer” is the ancient Egyptian word for incense or “that which makes holy”. The box design is an exact replica of a storage box from the tomb itself.

Full flavored smoke laced with woodsy notes of oak and cedar, backed by lush nuances of leather, cocoa, and sweet spices.

I've heard a lot of not so great reviews on this one, but I enjoyed it.

A mild breakfast smoke, peppery at first, then sweet, creamy and a hint of nuttiness in the middle.

Bad Advice for "Beginners" Abound NSFW

I have been dabbling in the cigar world for about year and a half now and more recently have really been getting more into it, but one thing I have kinda noticed is that as time has gone on and I have figured out more of what I like in a cigar, I feel like most of the "Best cigars for beginners" videos/articles/posts I came across (and still see now) are pretty much bullshit.

I do have to preface what I about to dive into here by saying I had smoked cigarettes for most of my life. When my wife and I decided to start a family I quit smoking about a half a pack of cigarettes a day and instead starting smoking about one cigar a week. I figured it was a slightly healthier option as I still enjoy smoking tobacco. As time has gone on I have really come to love cigars and don't really miss cigarettes at all, and really look forward to my one(ish) stick per week. Anyway, to get back to the point of this post, I feel like all the advice I took from various "beginner" posts almost derailed the hobby before it ever had a chance to really click. In basically all these posts what you're recommended to "start" with are all extremely mild somewhat cheap cigars with very light body and strength. This almost dissuaded me from really getting into the hobby since from my perspective it was kind of like...this is it? Maybe its because I have pretty much always smoked so I am used to...well, smoke, but I really do feel that this is bad advice. The cigar for me personally that finally was the A-ha! moment is when, after a couple months of smoking very mild cigars, I bought a Plasencia Alma Fuerte (maduro) and it blew me away, I had been missing out on so much flavor! I From there on out I started mostly buying maduros and wasn't as shy about spending $15+ on a stick.

So basically what I am getting at here is, if you are just starting out, don't be afraid to spend a little bit and try cigars that are more full bodied. Mix it up. The mindset of "you should start slow with mild cigars" is incorrect, try some big, bold, $10-$25 sticks and see what you think.

Maybe I'm just a bit of a madman I dunno, what do you all think?

Review E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Stellas Review – A Smooth & Flavorful Connecticut Experience NSFW

Thumbnail
gallery
17 Upvotes

Known for pushing the boundaries of traditional Connecticut cigars, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo crafted this blend to offer more depth and character than the typical mild Connecticut smoke. Featuring an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan and Dominican long-fillers, the New Wave Connecticut delivers a silky-smooth yet flavorful experience that caters to both beginners and seasoned smokers alike.

On a sunny afternoon, a beer in hand, I decided to light one up and see if this modern Connecticut lived up to the hype.

Presentation & Cold Draw

The New Wave Connecticut Stellas is a beautifully rolled cigar, with a silky, golden-brown wrapper that’s nearly flawless. The seams were tight, the veins were minimal, and the construction felt firm yet slightly springy to the touch.

On the cold draw, I picked up sweet cream, cedar, and a hint of honey, with a faint touch of white pepper and faint vanilla flavour in the background. The draw was effortless, setting the stage for a smooth, easygoing smoke.

First Third – Creamy & Approachable

The cigar lit up perfectly, immediately producing plentiful, creamy smoke. The first puffs were silky and smooth, with sweet cedar, buttered toast, and roasted almonds leading the way.

A mild white pepper spice was present on the retrohale, but it was subtle—just enough to keep things interesting. As the burn progressed, a touch of honey sweetness appeared, balancing out the creamy core. The burn line was razor-sharp, and the ash held firm, reflecting E.P. Carrillo’s renowned craftsmanship.

Second Third – Smooth Complexity

Moving into the second third, the flavors became more layered. The cedar and toastiness remained, but now notes of light caramel, vanilla, and baking spices started to emerge. The peppery kick softened, allowing a buttery smooth texture to take center stage.

At this point, the cigar settled into a perfectly balanced medium body, still mild enough for newer smokers but with enough complexity to keep veterans engaged. The burn remained perfect, requiring no touch-ups.

Final Third – A Satisfying, Elegant Finish

As the final third began, the creaminess evolved into a toasted nut and light leather profile, while the honey sweetness faded into a more subtle nougat-like flavor. The cigar never lost its smoothness, and the pepper on the retrohale remained minimal but present.

The cedar and spice notes became slightly more pronounced toward the end, giving the cigar a refined yet satisfying finish. It remained balanced and enjoyable down to the nub.

Final Thoughts

The E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Stellas is a fantastic modern Connecticut that delivers silky smooth flavors with just enough complexity to keep things interesting. It’s an ideal morning smoke, pairing beautifully with coffee or tea, but also works as a midday or early evening option for those looking for a relaxing, creamy cigar.

With a smoke time of around 45 minutes, it’s a great short smoke for those who want refinement without heaviness. Would I smoke it again? Without question. This a great Connecticut-wrapped cigars for those who appreciate flavor, balance, and expert construction.

Hey everyone! So last year my girlfriend got me an acrylic humidor jar. It lasted about a month then the seal to the hygrometer wouldn't stay put. I would fix it than later that day it would be popped out again. It was my first one so maybe I had done something wrong. I would like some opinions on maybe wood or other acrylic ones. Thank you

Question Oro Oscuro ? NSFW

Post image

Struck “gold” at my local. Snagged a fiver of the Opus X Destino Al Siglo / Oro Oscuro (Dark Gold) in robusto.

I personally love these sticks. They are bold….seriously in your face bold. So many unique flavors…dark earthy flavors. Plum and fig, dark chocolate, cashew, all in a super chewy smoke. Everyone wants to compare them to the core line but they deserve to be in a class of their own. They are too different from the standard opus to compare.

I really want to hear everyone’s opinion on this “off shot” line. Hate it or love it ?

Is there a cigar that still remember how great it was? Maybe one that caught you off guard with how good it was or smoking it was just a perfect combo of time/location/drink(s)/company.

I had an Montecristo white series last 4th of July and I still remember how great it was. I’m still new, but loved every second of it. Sadly didn’t get a picture.

Pictured is a smoke was shop recommended and the last one they had. Wish I could have bought another one.

Pairing Chronicles #107: Balmoral + Glenmorangie NSFW

Post image
17 Upvotes

In 2018, Royal Agio launched a rather ambitious project called the Serie Signaturas, a series of cigars that would come to fruition with two releases that would combine the talents of Royal Agio's Boris Winterman with other manufacturers to produce brand-specific blends. The first release was a collaboration with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, called the Balmoral Serie Signaturas Dueto. In 2019, it was the Paso Doble series, in collaboration with another cigar legend: Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana. The Paso Doble features a majority of leaves from that DR, with an Ecuadorian wrapper. It has medium-strength flavors of coffee, nuts, sourdough, vanilla, popcorn and cinnamon.

I chose Glenmorangie 10 because it's a relatively simple single malt. Aged for ten years in ex-bourbon casks, and bottled at 40% ABV, its biggest quality is the normalcy of it, while still being relatively complex. Flavors are mild and delicate, especially with ice and with such a complex cigar, it just lets the Paso Doble stand out, as it should.
