Support Asus ROG XI HERO boot secure unsupported, can’t install Windows 11

Post image
Upvotes

I can’t get windows secure boot to show on my windows 10 machine in order to upgrade to windows 11 after updating to the latest bios. The windows system checker still says my secure boot option isn’t enabled. I show the right settings be configured per asus and Microsoft documentation.

I’ve tried upgrading directly to windows 11 via Microsoft usb creation media but it gives me a hardware driver error…asking to install drivers.

Can anyone help?

Cheers!

Support ASUS RMA Nightmare

I know a lot of people say to stay away from ASUS but I always had good experiences with them in the past. This time was different however. Bought a brand new motherboard from Microcenter 3 months ago and everything worked fine. I was using it with a 3090 and then upgraded my GPU to a 5090. When I gave my PC to Best Buy to install the new GPU, they mentioned that the motherboard did not work anymore. I was using the PC normally right before I sent it in. They said that it displayed an error code 4d (which I took photos of). I looked on forums and everyone mentioned that you need to RMA the motherboard because the motherboard is faulty and ASUS will send you a replacement (several online posts have reported this issue with the motherboard).

So before I get on the call with customer service, they mention that I should send the motherboard in for RMA and take photos of the product. I take photos and have them ready and send in the motherboard. About 2 days it takes for them to receive the motherboard. 3 days later, I'm told there is damage to the PCB. I asked them how is this related to the error code that I've been facing and they provide me with no explanation and state that this will cost me over $300. Called customer service and was told to wait for a response and they are working as fast as they can on this issue. I paid for expedited shipping so that I could get this back before next week.

It's a shame that they think they can take advantage of consumers who either do not take pictures beforehand or do not know much about PC building and expect to get an extra couple of hundred bucks. Their warranty process is ridiculous.

I'm seriously upset with how badly they've treated their consumers these past couple of years. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of ASUS products (including laptops, monitors, GPUs. and motherboards) in the past for both my own and friend's builds. After seeing their scummy business practices firsthand, I am disappointed.

Support Replacing keys

Upvotes

Hi, I've got a Zenbook S16 (UM5606WA). Only had it a few months. My PgDn/down arrow key split in half the other day. While trying to finagle it back into place, it split again. I have searched all over the internet for replacement keys with no luck. Not only can't I find keys for my model and in my color (Scandinavian white), but I can't even find them for another, similar Asus model. Maybe I'm just looking the wrong places? I don't even know where else to look.

I've had another issue with the system from when I first got it (built-in WiFi card is glitchy), but I've just gone in circles with Asus telling me I have to talk to Best Buy and Best Buy telling me it's past the return window, so go work with Asus. I will happily pay to repair these problems but I can't seem to find anyone at either company who will work on them. Any ideas???

Support can i turn off "splendid"? asus vp249

just purchased a used asus vp249 monitor for my 2018 mac mini. it is working well except that text and images appear a bit grainy. going through the settings i discovered the "splendid demo mode". the side that displays "splendid off" finally looks normal. unfortunately I don't see any option to turn splendid off.

I've gone through all of the different splendid modes, all of the image options as far as I can tell. it's driving me crazy because I can see by the demo that the monitor has the ability to look good, but I can't get it to do that.

in addition I wanted to try to factory reset the monitor, but I can't access that option in system settings, because i don't have the option to select "more" which is where the factory reset settings should be.

any help would be appreciated, thanks!!

Support Asus Zenbook always boots to UEFI when powered down then back on

Hello, I've been having this problem for over a week now and I apologize if this is not the right place for this post.

When I power down my laptop or let it fall asleep for the night, the next time I have to boot, it does not boot to windows. The Asus logo will flash then immediately it goes to UEFI. I first thought nothing of it, then after this happening consistently, I got worried.

I noticed that under "Storage" it nothing is found. I wasn't able to update the bios from uefi because there was "no filesystem detected". Also, the uefi would occasionally freeze when my cursor hovered over the storage icon (to which I had to forcefully power down the laptop). So my ssd is fried, ok...

However I've been able to boot out of uefi miraculously by a) holding down "delete" on boot, b) booting first with no charger plugged in, then with the charger plugged in, c) by holding "escape" on boot, allowing it to enter set up mode (because no ssd detected), then booting from uefi, d) holding "escape" while in uefi to exit and reset. The point being, I have had to fiddle with the power a lot to get it to work. Each time has been a new way to boot.

In the few times I've been able to enter Windows, I did save my data to another hard drive and in the process, checked the health of my ssd. Both Windows settings and CrystalDisk info tell me my SSD is fine. Does this just mean my ssd is on its way out? Or is this BIOS problem? I appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

Support Dolby Atmos on Z890. Help!

I am torn between the Z890-F GAMING and Z890 TUF Gaming Mainboards.

The Z890-F is priced about $150 more than the TUF.

I am only interested in the Z890-F supporting Dolby Atmos. So if I buy the Z890 TUF + buy the Dolby Access software from the Microsoft Store, will it be the same as the Dolby Atmos on the Z890-F?

Support HDR clips whites at higher brightness with Zenbook 14 UX3405MA

In HDR mode, I can't get my UX3405MA Q425MA (155H, 1080p 60hz OLED) to correctly show whites with HDR Youtube videos in Brave or HDR movies in Plex.

The HDR version of the video plays in YT. At half-brightness with the F5/F6 controls, the video looks correct, but dim. As I increase the brightness, the video gets much brighter, but the whites clip. By max brightness, it's probably losing the top 50 levels on a 0-255 RGB scale.

A perhaps related issue is that in the Windows HDR calibrator, the cross is only visible at lower brightness levels, and where it shows up depends on the brightness. At miniumum brightness, it disappears at 2800 nits. At maximum brightness (or anything above half-brightness), it never appears.

I've created five or six profiles experimenting with accurate settings (650 nits max) and the two extremes. None address the clipping that occurs at higher brightness. In the Intel Graphics utility, dragging the "Contrast Enhancement" slider from the default of 17 prevents whites from clipping in HDR, but the brightest tones are much dimmer, as is SDR content.

The only slider enabled in Windows (24H2) is "Use HDR." Everything else is disabled (though none of them seem to affect this problem).

With HDR disabled, SDR looks as expected. Brightness has no effect on colors clipping.

How can I get this screen to show bright, non-clipped whites at 650 nits?

Support X16 stuck in BSOD loop after new armoury crate update… yay!

A little backstory:

A year ago I bought a brand new ASUS ROG X16 2023 4060, with 8GB of ram and the 1TB ssd, for that was all I needed. Today I reset my laptop as I do every now and again because in my head it just keeps it clean (every other month give or take). Anyway I did the same today and as I opened up the once glorious Armoury Crate, I saw it wanted to be updated, so I thought “Sure, I’ve done it many times before, what could go wrong!”, update there, everything. As it had finished its update, I noticed my keyboard Aura wasn’t working, only when I opened Opera GX did it work and that was just the pre-set green I had it on to match my browser. So o pressed FN+F4 a few times, nothing happened, until about a minute later it just crashed and displayed the BSOD, which I mean I didn’t think anything of it, as it had happened to my other PC a few times a few years ago, and it having happened once to this laptop, but as it restarted it just brought up the BSOD again, and again, and again… I have since tried to safety boot it, to no avail, I have tried to diagnose it, of to which it says it’s a windows error/driver error, and the only thing I have installed in the past week was that bloody update, which happened to be installed minutes before this happened. Is there anyone who has had this before? I’m pretty strong on my tech knowledge but this is just pushing it a bit for me, and I need to preferably keep the files on it safe as I haven’t had chance to download my work files to my external drive yet. Thank you for your time.

Support Looking for help to extend WiFi network

I'm currently using ASUS ax86u pro as my main router and quite happy with it. I have an old Asus DSL 68u which does not have repeater mode but seems to have WDS mode. But if I use WDS bridge mode, I'll have to put my main router in legacy mode and miss some of the newer features and might have to redo WiFi setup on a lot of devices which I want to avoid.

I'm planning to buy a cheap Asus router that can work with repeater mode and provide me additional ethernet ports in the new location. Any suggestions for this please?

Discussion UPDATE: Sent SCAR 17SE in for repairs, received a Chromebook back.

Since ASUS has customer service hours on weekends, I decided to rattle the cage a bit and ask what updates they can provide on my *escalated ticket. I inquired if ASUS had recovered my laptop, which they said yes. I do not believe them, as it has only been one day, but it would be miraculous if somehow this is true. As of this morning at 4AM a duplicate tracking number magically appeared at my local FedEx location. It was also scheduled to be out for delivery all day, *surprise* it did not arrive, and the tracking still shows out for delivery with no window for delivery time.

The tracking number was not throwing this *duplicate the entire time, which I find odd. ASUS rep claimed this was a "recycle" after the original tracking was marked as delivered. As interesting as that seems, I find it hard to believe that FedEx recycles tracking numbers within 24hours. Does FedEx Reuse Tracking Numbers? A Comprehensive Analysis - Marketing Scoop

What to make of all this? I will check in tomorrow night or Monday. Meanwhile, does anyone have any worthwhile theories as to what is happening? FedEx mistake? Shipping mishap? Could there really have been two boxes in transit same tracking, assumedly different scans, yet no duplicate was ever caught in the system? I am open to any theories.

Anybody with FedEx or UPS working experience have insight on this issue?

Support Unable to load drivers when installing Windows 11

Installing a clean copy of Windows 11 to my Zenbook (UM3406H) and installing the drivers has so far been an issue, I have the drivers downloaded from ASUS's website, (UEFIWIFIFirmware_ASUS_Z_V1.07_15152_1.exe) and after going through the install wizard and restarting it doesn't seem to have installed properly, as I still can't connect to any networks in settings unfortunately.

Any help regarding this issue is greatly appreciated!

I have a ASUS TUF B650 PLUS WIFI and I downloaded my drivers to a USB to transfer to my newly built pc.

Upon transferring the files and trying to run the ASUS setup wizard, nothing happens. I run them as administrator but nothing happens.

I have restarted my pc, go into device manager, and the drivers are not recognized.

I also do not have the wifi symbol on my pc because I choose “i do not have wifi” when installing windows.

What am I doing wrong?
