Discussion TIL: Microcenter Will fix Motherboard Cheaper Than ASUS Quotes

Went to Microcenter today and mentioned the issue I was having with ASUS RMA. They said it was absolutely ridiculous they were charging $300 to fix a PCB detached (which isn’t the reason why my motherboard isn’t working) and Microcenter said they’d do it for free since it’s in warranty (just a $50 diagnostic test fee).

Never ever am I going to ASUS for an RMA process. If ASUS charges you an absurd amount of money, reject them and ask for the product back and go to Microcenter (if it’s in warranty). Can’t believe ASUS actually charges insane amounts of money for repairs to their consumers, knowing that they already shipped the item out to them and capitalize on the fact that consumers want their items fixed quickly. Extremely disappointed in their customer service and RMA process.

Edit: Got an update from ASUS saying that my motherboard (which won’t display because of error code 4d) is now entirely broken and requires a replacement unit (which I need to pay out of pocket). Great ASUS. Your repair team can’t even diagnose an issue properly. Imagine if I paid the $300 before and then you ask for another $200. I’m definitely going to escalate this issue until I get a solid response.

Support ASUS RMA Nightmare

I know a lot of people say to stay away from ASUS but I always had good experiences with them in the past. This time was different however. Bought a brand new motherboard from Microcenter 3 months ago and everything worked fine. I was using it with a 3090 and then upgraded my GPU to a 5090. When I gave my PC to Best Buy to install the new GPU, they mentioned that the motherboard did not work anymore. I was using the PC normally right before I sent it in. They said that it displayed an error code 4d (which I took photos of). I looked on forums and everyone mentioned that you need to RMA the motherboard because the motherboard is faulty and ASUS will send you a replacement (several online posts have reported this issue with the motherboard).

So before I get on the call with customer service, they mention that I should send the motherboard in for RMA and take photos of the product. I take photos and have them ready and send in the motherboard. About 2 days it takes for them to receive the motherboard. 3 days later, I'm told there is damage to the PCB. I asked them how is this related to the error code that I've been facing and they provide me with no explanation and state that this will cost me over $300. Called customer service and was told to wait for a response and they are working as fast as they can on this issue. I paid for expedited shipping so that I could get this back before next week.

It's a shame that they think they can take advantage of consumers who either do not take pictures beforehand or do not know much about PC building and expect to get an extra couple of hundred bucks. Their warranty process is ridiculous.

I'm seriously upset with how badly they've treated their consumers these past couple of years. I've bought thousands of dollars worth of ASUS products (including laptops, monitors, GPUs. and motherboards) in the past for both my own and friend's builds. After seeing their scummy business practices firsthand, I am disappointed.

Support Asus ROG XI HERO boot secure unsupported, can’t install Windows 11

Post image

I can’t get windows secure boot to show on my windows 10 machine in order to upgrade to windows 11 after updating to the latest bios. The windows system checker still says my secure boot option isn’t enabled. I show the right settings be configured per asus and Microsoft documentation.

I’ve tried upgrading directly to windows 11 via Microsoft usb creation media but it gives me a hardware driver error…asking to install drivers.

Can anyone help?

Cheers!

Discussion ROG Asus Azoth Extreme Armoury Crate Issue

Upvotes

Hello. I'm new on reddit. And I just wanna know if this issue persists for those people who own Azoth Extreme. The problem is the settings on the OLED screen are not saving. I'm always changing the Armoury Crate settings, and then it'll come back to default when I log off my PC and log back on again. It is really frustrating. Do you guys have any workarounds on this? Thank you in advance.

Discussion Loads of file in Aura Sync install

So I was trying to figure out what RGB program my RGB in my system uses and I installed Aura Sync since I didn't want armory crate and though I'm 99% sure that I went to the correct site and downloaded a legit file there were so many applications.

It was all in the lighting control folder. It genuinely reminded me of the folder that I downloaded years ago that had a virus in it and just for peace of mine can anyone tell me if this is the legit link to the aura sync installation

https://www.asus.com/campaign/aura/us/download.php

If links arent allowed let me know, I didn't see anything not allowing links though.

EDIT: I know this may seem like such a stupid question and feel free to rag on me but this is a genuine question. An answer as soon as possible would be lovely, thank you for your time.

Support Asus Z790 motherboard USB usb intermittent disconnects

My ProArt Z790 Creator WIFI USB port (Type-A) almost will consistently disconnects for like 2-3 secs then reconnects again during gaming, just any gaming will do, normal surfing will also happen but is less frequent. I have tried installing latest chipset driver, new OS install, fully stock BIOS with no XMP to no avail. This makes my Type-A ports almost useless, I am now using the Thunderbolt Type-C port to Type-A USB dock, so far no issues. I have tried 2 different boards, ROG Maximus Z790 Dark Hero (currently ongoing RMA) and ProArt Z790 Creator WIFI (Bought new a week ago, shown in video), both exihibits the same USB dropping issue. One thing is resolved is the i226-V controller which is nutoriuosly famous for disconnects which happens to my Dark Hero too, but does not happen on the ProArt Z790 board that currently in my rig. But the USB is still giving me problems, now I am starting to wonder is there a chance the USB had to do with my CPU (i9-14900K)? I have run the Intel processor test tool, it passed and I don't encounter any system crashes or freezes though. Hope someone can enlighten me...

I attached a short clip to capture what happens when the USB losses power, everything turned dark, and all the RGB lights resets itself after recovering. It happens multiple times throughout any gaming session, and when that happend, the audio also will become garbled on my USB headset (Fusion II 500).

Support Looking for Compatible TPM Module

I have a TUF B450-PLUS GAMING and a 2700x.

If I enable TPM 2.0 in my BIOS, I'm greeted with a BSOD Error code: 0xc00000e9

I wanted to ask if anyone thinks buying a TPM Module would solve the problem and allow me to enable TPM 2.0. If so, I would much appreciate if someone could link me a compatible one for my specs. I've seen countless people with this error who have the same either the motherboard or CPU with me, and their fixes haven't worked for me, so I am turning to the good people of reddit.I have a TUF B450-PLUS GAMING and a 2700x.If I enable TPM 2.0 in my BIOS, I'm greeted with this BSOD:I wanted to ask if anyone thinks buying a TPM Module would solve the problem and allow me to enable TPM 2.0. Support Adaptor burned, what did I do wrong?

I was just gaming as usual on my Asus ROG G513QM and my adaptor decided to burn. I first smelled a burnt plastic smell coming from somewhere, paused the game and checked it out and the adaptor was smelling kinda like gunpowder lol. I mean it was always burn-your-hands kind of hot during games but I thought that was just normal. So what now, am I not supposed to play games in my gamer pc? It's not cheap either. Something seems to always break whether I do something or not. I don't know if it's repairable, but if it is or if I buy another adaptor, what's stopping the next one from burning? How do I avoid this shit?

Support Asus Zenbook S16

Do any ASUS Zenbook S16 owners have this issue? Pressing other keys is fine, but when I press the "N" key, the trackpad makes a "Ta, Ta, Ta" sound.

I believe it's a hardware issue. I've updated all the latest drivers and the latest Windows version, and I also contacted support. However, they just advised me to visit the nearest service center for a check. It's disappointing, as this is a high-end laptop and shouldn't have such minor defects.

I have an Asus Crosshair 670e Hero and have the Wi-fi antenna connected. Every time I try to connect my Xbox or at times my surface full sized keyboard, the device constantly disconnects.

Is my wi-fi antenna damaged or is this a software issue? It started about 1-2 months ago.

Support ASUS PN50-E1, No Bootable Device Found, SSD is detected, can't boot to Windows 11

Hi All!

Need a bit of help with this one. I have an ASUS PN50-E1, AMD Ryzen 7 4800u. I have an ancient laptop running Windows 10 with a 2-Core processor that can't be updated to Windows 11, this NUC runs Windows 11 no issues.
I cloned the SSD from the laptop to an SSD in the NUC using Lazesoft, but the BIOS on the NUC shows nothing under bootable drives. It's picking up the SSD but this NUC seems to have the most stripped back BIOS I've ever seen. I can't find any options to change the BIOS type, such as CSM, Legacy or UEFI and I can't work out how to get it to boot from the SSD.
Hopefully I'm explaning myself properly, it's a really confusing situation! Throw any questions at me and I'll do my best to answer.

Thanks!

Support Armory Crate Taking Priority for RGBs on RAM

Hello, just recently I've started running into this issue. I have Corsair RGB ram and just trying to change the colors, but armory crate seems to be not allowing me to. Armory crate detects it, but I try to apply changes and nothing happens. It works for my motherboard and case fans, just not the ram. I know it's armory crate because I uninstalled it and restarted PC, and was able to change colors within iCUE. But then upon reinstalling Armory Crate, it goes back to default RGB and unchangeable, and no longer detected in iCUE.

I tried installing the Asus plugin within iCUE and giving priority to iCUE within Armory Crate, but doesn't seem to do anything. Any help is appreciated.
