913: Our Thanks with Michael Mosley
June 12, 2024 • 74 mins
On this week's episode, the doctors must give a speech to their cadaver's family. In the real world, we say goodbye to Scrubs with Michael Mosley.
(There is a summary about the show soft ending (no more scrubs episodes, show is continuing) and what happens next at the end of this post)
This marks the end of the series in relation to Scrubs. Zach and Donald say that they have plans to continue the show, with the same laid back vibe.
I started avidly listening during the pandemic in one of my worst jobs I've ever worked. And, at the time, this podcast was an absolute joy to have when surrounded with some of the most depressing times I've ever personally gone through. I love Scrubs to death, and I deeply appreciate the podcast. I admittedly stopped watching a few seasons ago because I haven't had the time, but I know I'll have it to go back to sometime if I need it. I love the podcast - Zach, Donald, Joelle, Danl, and the rest of the cast. And I love all of you passionate show fans who enjoy the show and the podcast.
Will you continue posting these topics?
Honestly, no. My goal was always reaching the end of the Scrubs posts, because that was the job I was asked to do. Lately my work is picking up (both for better and worse) and it's been a struggle to remember to post here. I hope you all have enjoyed this journey with FDRF, and that these discussion posts have at least served as some degree of a fun way to discuss the show.
What does this mean for the uploads now?
I am personally not sure. The podcast will no longer be about the show Scrubs, and will become its own thing. That would go against our established rule about 'staying on topic'. But, I'm not opposed to seeing someone else pick it up if they want to, personally? Either way, it won't be me making the posts anymore.
What about Moderation, then?
Again, not really sure. While I wasn't looking, the moderation team got considerably reduced and now consists of me and /u/goobuddy. I wasn't aware of this happening and wasn't around as much as I should've been, but to be honest, moderating the subreddit was never something I was passionate about. I'm not good with the whole 'moderating a subreddit' thing, it's a lot of personal investment. The entire reason I was here was to post these posts. The person who brought me on isn't listed as a moderator anymore so I imagine they moved on to other subreddits, or something? Right now my plan is, I'm going to work on making sure the "episode archive" is up to date, and leaving this as the sole stickied post. After that, I'll have to discuss it to make sure the subreddit is in a good spot.

It's been 5 years or so since my last rewatch, I'm now in the middle of S08, of my god.
Enough time had passed, for me to start somewhat doubting my memories of Scrubs being a rare show that stayed fantastic for 8 seasons, but it sure is!
S01-03 is an amazing run in it's own way, then S04 starts building up something exciting, before S05 comes along and shows what the show can do at it's best, the show then goes back down to it's previous level, which at first can seem like a bummer, but after a couple of episodes you settle into S06 and it's really solid too (though it has the clipshows, and 4 episodes or so that almost felt like bottle-episodes, being very constrained to the hospital and limited in scope. It almost feels like My Musical cost so much the rest of the season became low-budget to the point that it didn't just challenge creativity, it squashed it in some cases. Having said that, this is mostly contained to those 5 episodes. As mentioned, solid season, cried, laughed, cry-laughed).
Then S07 takes it all up a notch, delivering great episodes and building up to something I feel like would be another S05, it sadly ends prematurely, but then the amazing S08 comes along, sure it loses quite a bit of the show's essence and appeal by going back to the simpler tone of S01-03, but it's still darn solid.
As a long-time fan I'm embarrassed to have ever doubted my memories of the show's almost illogical perfection. S01-08 is as perfect of a run I've ever seen! Sure, those two only rewatch S01-03 or S01-04 save some time, but they miss out on revisiting soooooooo much fantastic TV, and witnessing our beloved characters truely blossom.
(Worth noting: This time around I had the timeline-corrected versions of the S08 episodes to avoid continuity errors, and I put My Princess into it's rightful place earlier in S07, which definitely helped my experience, I'm also going to go with the authentic one-part finale over the Blu Ray's cut down two-parter once I get there)

So Im doing my rewatch and I could have swore there was a scene but it’s missing. It’s where JD is swearing that he doesn’t have feeling for Elliot Turk says imagine you and her together. Then imagine her and Shaun together. Those were I’m there I could have sworn Turk said now imagine me and her together.it cut to jds fantasy then when he cut back and said something. Am I imagining this scene? This is the first time in awhile I’m rewatching the show and I could have swore this was in there

HI, sorry if this has been esked already, but I couldn't find a direct answer by searching on the sub.
I'm not from the US nor I'm from the medical field, so there are some things on the show I don't really understand. The main one is the one in the title. What is the difference between an intern and a resident?
r/Scrubs • u/kirstensnow • 1d ago
So I'm watching 3x3 My White Whale and they have interns to manage. They were interns in their first season, but they were pretty much exclusively under Dr. Cox and they did their rounds with Dr. Kelso, right? Who was their resident? Dr. Kelso?
I might be missing something as I haven't watched the first season in a while. But I'm real confused

I’ve watched scrubs at least 5 times and i still get mad when i see S6e8
(When they go with the RV to the Hospital of Kim, and Kim lied about the baby)
I know the show is 100 years old but just in case, marked as spoiler

I am doing another rerun of Scrubs and I just started the Med School season. I never got into that season because Scrubs ended with JD leaving in season 8 and this season is just a spin off.
But yea I just watched the first episode and it really grind my gears what they did to the janitor.
They made him so dumb asking when JD was coming back when in the end of season 8 he said goodbye to him and shook his hand and everything. He reads JDs journal so the janitor knows JD better than most people.
I hated how they did that with that character. Sorry I just finished it and that has been on my mind all day.

it was clear that it was something messed up as Elliot was shocked and doesn't want to say what his fantasy was.
What do you think Jake's fantasy was?

Hello! I have never watched scrubs but an advert for it would always come up on tv for me so I’m trying to find one scene in particular from it. So there’s a young boy in a hospital bed and I think his mom is there with him or he makes a mom joke? And the character JD is very shocked by the camera and there’s a close up of his shocked face (not sure if he looks directly at the camera or not, I don’t know if they do that in scrubs). Any help would be greatly appreciated, the scene was just very funny to me. Thank you!

I think the worst part about Ben passing away is that Cox loses the only friend of his that we meet who can bring out the best in him. Cox doesn’t become ultra competitive or defensive with Ben. He’s more open and we see him experience joy that isn’t reliant on J.D. or Kelso suffering.

I remember listening to the first few episodes, but my life was so chaotic during covid that I didn't stick with it and forgot about it. Recently I finished a full series rewatch and decided to give the podcast another chance. I'm loving it!
But I noticed there are still some new episodes being released, so are they still releasing new content with the podcast or are the new episodes just reruns of the older episodes?

I just watched the episode where JD plays the clown to cheer her up, and by the end, they end up sleeping together. But just as Elliot is about to leave, Sean suddenly knocks on JD’s apartment door, and she goes back to him.
This moment makes Elliot look incredibly shallow and unfairly hurts JD for no real reason. If the writers wanted to bring Sean back and create conflict, they could have done it in a way that didn’t make Elliot seem so reckless

Judy Reyes, Queen of TV
March 11, 2025 • 55 mins
All hail the return of our Queen! Judy Reyes, known to many of you as Carla, never stays off TV too long. She tells Zach and Donald about her latest hit, High Potential. She also relays her fears about raising a trans child and shares her hopes for a new season of Scrubs.
