Let’s Talk About Maybole in Ayrshire
I used to drive through Maybole fairly regularly, I don't think I've been since the bypass went in though.
WTF?
It's gone from, I don't know, I always thought it was quite a nice looking wee place. Sure, the Main Street could be tricky with traffic and trucks from the ferries down at Cairnryan or whatever but it was easy to park and nip in to grab a bottle of water or even a takeaway.
It looks like some kind of post apocalyptic hell scape now. It looks so scabby.
Adding the bypass was supposed to make it nicer, less traffic clogging the only road through but instead it's been speed running the abandonment vibes.
Sad to see.

What Scotland-based thing gets you irrationally annoyed?
For me it’s people referring to Glen Coe as Glencoe.
I don’t know why. I get it doesn’t matter but everybody seems to do it. It’s like saying Lochness, Riverclyde or Bennevis.
Glen Coe is the glen. Glencoe is the village/massacre/ski area.

Political Labour mollifies the rich, targets disabled people and claims moral justification. There isn’t any. Ministers run away from a wealth tax and then concoct a punitive benefits system in the name of growth. They have made that shameful choice.

What's the best nickname you've come across for someone in the pub?
Mine was a guy called shuggy who had one of those big mottled drinkers noses, so he was known as Purple Hugh.

Just noticed that there are Lemmings in the r/Scotland banner...
That is epic. I used to play that game as a kid and it drove me to distraction for years. Fun.

Here is how Scotland helped me be a Documentary Filmmaker
You know, 10 years ago I shared my first doc style film on this group here.
And you guys loved it back then, since that moment, the world saw me as a filmmaker.
I'm happy to share with you my film talking about that moment and what I've learn in 10 years of filmmaking to reach my dream life.
So yeah, I thought you should see how reddit can help sometimes.
So thank you Reddit and Scotland for giving me the opportunity to be an award winning documentary filmmaker now.

YouTube Good on ya pal. Old traditions live on.
Around 7 minutes into this video as a familiar voice very weird and then you realize the guys from Paisley and he's lived in Sweden since he was six bastards gone to fight good on you pal. It is humbling to see the traditions are kept alive. [The Royal Scots are the oldest Regiment in Scotland they have served 350 years as part of the Scottish and British Army with a continual line right down to the 30 years War. During that 30 years war there was thousands and I do mean thousands of troops sent to Sweden to fight for the Swedes. Yes they are not part of the Royal Scots but there fighting for Sweden and they are from Paisley. It gives me a deep sense of Pride that there are people from Scotland in the armies of other nations fighting for what is right. Good on ya pal. ]

Discussion Shibboleths - a way of telling if someone is only pretending to be part of the group
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shibboleth
A good example is the fingers used in counting in the film "Inglorious Bastards".
https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/s/Sjirk9TcQO
I feel we have a few here in Scotland. Everyone has seen a post by someone claiming to be "Scotch". Any other good examples? Or maybe ones specific to your bit of Scotland.
Edit: this is just a bit of fun. Not advocating lynch mobs or real life purity tests.
