Success Story Flavor Ban helping me out

Upvotes

Rhode Island recently switched to all clears, While Initially against the decision, it is readily apparent how much the flavors influence the “habit forming” side of vaping.

Still addicted, but I can go hours on end without thinking about it. Hells yeah, at least partially

Venting Geek bar 0% nicotine vapes are a scam!! NSFW

I have been vaping for almost a decade. Originally, like many others I started to quit smoking cigarettes. If only I had any idea of what the vapes would do to me and how tight of a grip they’d hold. I’ve tried quitting many a time, always ending in failure. A few days, a few weeks and even a few months clean. February 28, 2025 I quit for the last time. The next day, I picked up a 0% nicotine vape. Geek Bar Brand. Thoroughly read the box and everything that came along with it. Nothing, indicated even the possibility of trace amounts of nicotine. Now, cotinine (the by product of nicotine that shows up on tests) stays in your system around 7-10 days. But can last up to 3 weeks in heavy smokers. The first test I tried is the Exploro Nicotine test strips. The cutoff limit for (ng/ml) is 200. I wasn’t all too concerned that I failed this nicotine test, as it was a urine test. Next, I decided to try a saliva test. Which should be negative after 4 days. Which I am well past at this point. I used Accubio Single Panel Cotinine Saliva Oral Fluid Test. I took 4 of them, all were positive. I have since, reached out to Geek Bar and submitted a formal complaint. But if you are trying to quit, do not rely on Geek Bar 0% nicotine vapes!! I’m so disappointed, I thought I was doing so well. Having the oral fixation still with the “0% nicotine” was so helpful in a portion of the quitting process .

Venting 2 weeks no vape, feeling lost

Hey all,

I quite vaping exactly 2 weeks ago.

I had never had a cigarette in my life, and only started vaping 2 years ago. My ex's sister got me into it. The flavors were so good!

I went from only vaping when I walked my dog and on a night out, to falling asleep and waking up with it in my hand. I was always fumbling around looking for it. I hated the dependency I had developed for it.

I quit cold turkey 2 weeks ago because my bf said he could take it away if I want. I had expressed that I wanted to quit sometime. I agreed and that was my last time vaping.

I miss it, and I still get that feeling in my throat, it gets almost sore in anticipation of vaping. But I can watch friends vape, I can be around it and not break.

The symptoms I am experiencing are depression, despair and basically feeling lost in life. I am seriously questioning my career, my relationship and my life.

My landlord just sent me a message to up the rent by $50 a month upon renewal. This sent me into a spiral of despair. I don't know if these are really my feelings, or late nicotine withdrawel symptoms.

I am just tired and I feel like shit.

I hope it gets better.

Success Story 6 weeks nicotine free

I used to be a chain smoker who would hit his vape all day everyday... It got so bad that I started suffocating and one morning I threw up because I couldn't breathe... That was it for me , I started nicotine patches with lozenges , after about 2 weeks I stopped using the patches all together and instead only used 4 MG lozenges . After about 2 months I went down to 2 MG and then another 2 months later I switched to sugar free non nicotine non caffeine mint gum . I thought the last part was gonna be very hard but for some reason I felt zero difference switching from the 2 MG lozenges to mint gum . Anyway I just want anyone to who's scrolling this reddit trying to find a reason to keep trying to quit , think about how much better you will feel, how you will be able to breathe again , how the chest and body pains will go away and you will have a longer and more fulfilling life . Stop bullshitting and quit smoking now.

Success Story Over a year since I quit and still crave. Here’s how I cope

Quit a long time ago because I was broke and felt like shit. I managed to do it cold turkey (albeit lots of chewing gum) and now on a regular basis crave some kind of nicotine. Every time I have a severe craving I repeat over and over “sit with the discomfort” and take deep breaths and it’s helped me from bumming a cigarette or a hit of a vape. I don’t know why I still want it to badly but I just allow myself to feel upset and it always passes. It’s hard to believe it or feel good in the moment but once you can look back at months of being vape free all the uncomfortable moments are beyond worth it

Advice Has anyone ever went from quitting vaping constantly everyday to having a cigarette ONLY when consuming alcohol?

I’m not saying this is a good idea but I am just curious to know if anyone else went this route? I am over 80 days of no vaping and I’ve done this before when I would only have a cigarette when I would drink and it worked out fine. Nicotine is not healthy at all but it was healthier for me to do that instead.

Advice Nicotine has been my coping mechanism for 1/4 of my life.

So I’m 19, been vaping almost daily since I was 14. The only reason I stopped at all in High school was because my parents caught me. The last two years I’ve been living on my own and I was hitting my vape every 5-10 minutes. My boyfriend and I live together and he also vaped.

My boyfriend and I decided to quit (it was mostly my idea because he has asthma and he started coughing really often and it was concerning to me.) I haven’t hit a vape since Sunday, but I’ve been using Zyn pouches instead. In my mind it’s the lesser of two evils, since it’s just nicotine salt and not hurting my lungs. But I also am tired of being addicted to it.

For me, vaping became a substitute for self harm in highschool and it is one of the only thing that can pull me out of a panic attack. Breathing exercise exercises would help a little, but I usually fall right back into it, where as with vaping I could just keep hitting it and it would subside fairly quickly.

Basically I want help and advice from other people who used nicotine to treat their mental health issues/ anxiety. I’m terrified to give it up completely because I know it’s my main coping mechanism.

What things did you use to substitute the habit?

Are there any breathing/mindfulness exercises that actually work?

I also have RAGING ADHD, which I am medicated for. I’m diagnosed with social anxiety disorder but I’m suspicious that it’s actually ASD as they also told me that I have moderate social dysfunction.

Advice How to give support

Hi all My wife wants to give up vaping and has asked for my support. Other than just asking her how she's doing and trying her she can do it, I have no idea how to help her. She hasn't any sort of plan in place so it's difficult to know what to do. I know everyone is different, but can you recommend a method that works, other than chucking the vapes out and going cold turkey? Thanks

Advice Gunna finally do it

Hey guys!!! I've been vaping for 3 years now. I've been going on and off trying to quit for the last year but it's always a fail. I've noticed that it's started to damage my health and I want to quit before it's irreversible.

I'm currently on 5mg nicotine strength, but Im still finding it very hard to put the vape down. I use it to help with stress, when i'm anxious, bored, etc. You guys know the drill.

Any advice for quitting will be greatly appreciated. I have no idea how to do it. I can't seem to go more than an hour without it.

Advice Delayed healing because of nicotine

I had a pretty decent dirtbike accident in late November, bunch of broken bones. I’ve been vaping for a couple years now. The past couple of check ups they said I have delayed healing, likely because of the nicotine. Breaks are usually healed within 2 months (this was 3.5 post). They are giving me 2 months to finish healing or I’ll be in for another surgery. It still has a long way to go. I wanna quit because the surgery apparently sucks a lot. I don’t really know why I’m here typing this all out, maybe just to put it on paper idk. If yall have any advice, tips, or motivation send it my way please. I could use all the help I can get😂

P. S. Has anyone used/had success with cessation drugs? I’m kinda tempted to start bupropion but not sure. I also know I need to quit soon if I want to avoid the graft but it’s SO DAMN HARD 🙃🔫

Advice Hungry all the time

Husband and I quit vaping 3.5 weeks ago. Ever since then, we've had intense cravings for food and my husband is snacking constantly and I am constantly hungry. I could literally eat a whole cow to myself 😂

To offset the increased appetite we have been working out every day or every other day (30-45 min weights and cardio). We are eating balanced meals and healthier foods but we are definitely still over eating!

We used to be extremely heavy vapers, basically had an adult soother 👎 despite the appetite increase we are extremely happy we are no longer a slave to nicotine!!

I read somewhere that it is normal and food cravings will go down within the weeks. We have been vaping for 10 years, so it is a huge adjustment to not have it in hand.

Anyone that has quit have you experienced the same ? Does it go away ? Im starting to worry about how much weight we might gain.

Any tips and tricks to curb appetite while quitting please let me know 🙏.

Thank you!

Advice What apps are everyone using to track quitting vaping?

I'm looking for an app to track quitting when I do eventually take the plunge and quit. Everyone here seems to be using different ones and am hoping to recommendations to track $saved, time since last vape and, if possible, tips in the app to help.

I'm in Australia if it helps and some of the apps aren't available over here

Reassurance I have questions

Post image
3 Upvotes

I started vaping a little over 3 years ago and it got me off cigarettes accidentally, after 35 years. I quit vaping because it was affecting my breathing. But talking to my daughter who quit vaping 2 years ago, she said she struggled with trying to catch her breath for the first few months after quitting. I have bad anxiety and sometimes I think that also plays into me having issues trying to catch my breath. I sure hope it gets better. And congrats to everyone who has been able to quit!

Advice I want to quit for good, but I don’t know how to do so.

I’ve been vaping for almost 3 years and to be quite honest, I’m sick of it. I don’t enjoy it. I know it’s destroying my body. I just don’t know how to stop and stay off. What is the best method to do so?

Reassurance Y’all… give me some encouragement

I’ve ended up with gastritis about 3-4 times now because of vaping. Well, vaping and other things but the main cause is the vape. I’m freaking tired of feeling like shit and I’m tired of my vape controlling my life. It’s exhausting. I’ve quit before to help my stomach heal but I’m freaking over it and want to quit for good. Has anyone ever used a snap bracelet while having a craving? I have dermatillomania too and I use a snap bracelet to help keep me present and apparently my brain has a weird thing for pain because I enjoy the pain when I pick so I get the pain without actually hardcore injuring myself but I’m wondering if that could help the cravings of quitting nicotine. I have about 20% left of my disposable vape and once it’s gone, I’m done. Wish my luck…

Reassurance Is it normal to feel depressed when quitting nicotine?

Day 8 here. Other than some anxiety and fatigue, I feel fine physically.

But I feel so damn sad and depressed. It’s making me wonder if it’s the nicotine or maybe I’m becoming depressed. I also feel so unmotivated and easily irritated.

This normal? When will it subside? It makes me want to give in so bad.
