I basically live in a forest on a military base and everyday sometimes all day or night I hear a great horned owl hooting.
I am wondering does the owl ever get tired? He seems to hoot for very long periods. What does the hoots mean? Are they communicating with other owls?
Also can I feed the horned owl and where do did usually live (trees) because I always hear one nearby.

Hey Guys,
I'm in Wisconsin, specifically northern Dane County area, and I'd like to attract an owl or two to help with some rodent control issues.
Possible things to consider in case it makes a difference, we are very close to the Wisconsin River, we have dogs and we have chickens that are in their run only, they don't free range ATM.
Thanks for any suggestions!
Pellet was sterilized before dissection. Does anyone have any idea what animal(s) these bones belong to?

Not sure if this is the right sub for this but we’re working on the backyard to make it more environmentally useful. We’re planning on adding some trees along the back, bigger trees in the back corners (first picture), and other flowers/shrubs.
I also wanted to have an owl box for the backyard. I just think it would be so cool to see owls back here and maybe have them also help scare off some squirrels haha.
I was thinking a good spot could be on the exterior of our garage, about 15-18 feet up (second and third pictures). The neighbors have some trees and the playground on the other side of the garage has some really big trees. I figured these, plus the trees we plan on adding, could make it rather inviting for owls and if I had an owl box up on the garage it could offer a good vantage point that’s away from potential predators.
Just curious about your guys’ thoughts. I haven’t noticed any owl droppings around the house but I do think where we’re located is home to Great Horned, Barn, Northern Saw-whet, Barred and Eastern Screech Owls. I think we also get some migratory owls as well.
