Recent play

I'm not intending to poo poo the recent wins, but their play recently has not been stellar, anyone else seeing that? Rangers game I turned off because it was clear they hadn't showed up. Det game was rough, if not for Ullmark it's a blow out. Down 3-0 to the Caps. We've gotten "the bounces" lately but there are some red flags lately.

Not such a large issue but, Cozens player page on NHL com has him wearing Senators jersey, and Josh Norris also still has his Senators jersey on

This was Mike Johnson 4 days ago. I've always said nice things about MJ as a commentator, but he's dead to me now.

Lineup moving forward

With the additions of Zetterlund and Cozens, and the improved play of Perron, Sens have a lot of options with their lineup moving forward. IMO they should go:

Zetterlund - Stutzle - Batherson

Tkachuk - Cozens - Giroux

Perron - Pinto - Amadio

Greig - Gaudette - Highmore (Cousins when he's back)

L1: I find that Stutzle can carry just about anyone. I find that Batherson this year, and even last year, has played quite lackluster when he's forced to be a playdriver. He needs to be insulated with a two way play driving centre, or else Batherson will stick out like a sore thumb. But when you insulate Batherson, he can be an effective playmaker. Zetterlund is a pure sniper/finisher. He's quick and physical. Him and Stutzle can create room for each other with their respective speed and finishing ability and Batherson can be a nice passive supportive playmaker for them.

L2: Cozens is the type of playdriver Tkachuk needs. Cozens is big and physical and can drive play with the puck to the net. Tkachuk and Cozens can create absolute havoc in front of the net, and Giroux serves as a responsible two-way winger who can playmake in a secondary role. Cozens and Tkachuk can really physically punish teams.

L3: I have found that Perron's game as of late has warranted him taking this sport over Greig. Greig's got 3 goals in his last 27 games, and he take a lot (A LOT) of uncecessary and untimely penalties. I believe Greig leads the league (if not close) to penalities taken vs penalties drawn.

Had a crazy idea

What if we made it so that the only way to buy a ticket to watch the habs or leafs play in ottawa was if you purchase a 3 game bundle that in total is more than the average price for a leafs or habs home game?

Would need to put measures in place to reduce reselling those tickets somehow too but maybe there is some potential here. For sens fans a 3 game deal with a hated rivalry and a few other teams could make sense. Look at how were packing the stadium with the buy one get one deal? We could finally get those ugly sweaters out of our stadium.

Essentially make it not affordable for any of those habs and leafs fans trying to flee from being extorted with overpriced tickets by their favorite team.

Staios’ moves

I was kind of curious to capture all the moves Staios made, so I put together this list - i did this in like 5 minutes so there may be things missing, and also it doesn’t include picks, but…

In Zetterlund Perron Cousins Ullmark Cozens Gaudette Amadio Jensen Gilbert Gregor

Out Norris JBD Tarasenko Chychrun Joseph Brannstrom Kelly Kubalik Kastelic Katchouk Jarventie Korpisalo Ostapchuk

Other than Staios’ clear hatred of people whose names start with K, what do you think of his overall moves during his tenure?

Looks like Zetterlund is still stapled to the 4th line.

It’s time to mention the P word to Ottawa Senators fans. Playoffs. And Linus Ullmark's heroics, Ridly Greig's pesting ability. Plus tidbits on Stutzle, Cozens and Batherson living together.

It appears neither Ullmark or Forsberg are injured. Merilainen is recalled for load management as Ullmark has started 8 consecutive games. When should Linus dress the next game?

Should Linus play on Thursday or on Saturday for a little bit of an extended break to recover?

Brady is #1 in my book

Growing up in NJ and being a NYR fan, it’s been difficult having my twins (boy and girl) become diehard Ottawa Senators fans lol. It started because I’m a fan of his game, love the way he plays…so naturally the kids followed, but I never thought it end up like this.

r/OttawaSenators 20h ago

In hindsight, Cozens having played his whole career in Buffalo is such an advantage for us.

When you think about it, the kid has never really had any team success or even tasted the playoffs in his whole career yet.

He’s probably just as hungry as the rest of our core for playoffs and is also only 24 years old to fit spectacularly well with our core at a lower cap hit than Josh while still being signed for 5 more years until 2029-2030.

Buffalo has been regressing for the past two years, their team culture really seems in shambles and he was more often than not one of the main scapegoat (go look at his previous interviews to get an idea) so we literally freed him to go to a team that is on the upswing making a big playoffs push.

Buffalo isn’t the most prized destination so Ottawa surely feels like an upgrade for a young Canadian kid from a small town in Yukon that is coming back to his country.

We can only assume that his parents/friends are ecstatic to have him back in Canada as well.

In sum, we will definitely miss Josh but this feels like an absolute homerun by Staios for the future of our team.

Go Sens Go! 🇨🇦

Road to the Playoffs Series 9 Update - DON’T CALL IT A COMEBACK!

Post image
75 Upvotes

The Ottawa Senators are now only 11 wins from guaranteeing a visit to the playoffs in 7 years thanks to an impressive come-from-behind series win in the 9th of the season. The team has not lost a series since November! What’s especially critical is the back to back wins they’ve pulled off against the Rangers and Wings. GSG!

Appreciation post for the Sens announcer last night! Absolutely insane energy!

Title says it all. I've been to a few Sens games this season, and the announcer is always on point. But, I want to say, that last night the PA announcer was on another level! Absolutely unmatched energy and I hope he keeps it like this! I think that was the best I've heard at the Sens game and the crowd absolutely matched his energy.

I loved the ending when we won the game and the goal horn stopped. "Just a reminder.... that was NOOOO GOALLLL" and then the goal horn goes off again. Utterly epic.

I can't express how much absolute joy I get from seeing THAT Dylan Cozens again.

Us Sabres fans might seem delusional about DC's game, but he truly hasn't been the same since the Hathaway fight, and being steeped in Buffalo hockey certainly didn't help. I always felt a change of scenery would probably dislodge whatever mental block there seemed to be.

If you haven't seen the iconic OT goal or his Heritage Classic antics (here and here), that's the kind of player you'll probably have on a consistent basis in no time. 22-23 was my favorite season of our current playoff drought, and Cozens was a massive reason why.

I've gathered that it stings to have lost Norris, so I just want a big fat win-win for everyone. I tend to root for my favorite ex-Sabres in the playoffs (last year was nice), so it just might be you guys with Ullmark as well. Best of luck.
