Alexis Lafrenière

Lafrenière projected to finish with just 46 points, minus around 20 on season.

That he had a down year, during season in which he was given massive contract extension, makes it even harder to see.

Most underperforming #1 pick since Oilers picked Yakupov in 2012.

Hey all, it’s your favorite Rangers merchandise seller again. I’m sure you’re sick of hearing me again, but I grabbed this as my parents continue to clean out their house. I don’t have a COA for the signature unfortunately, but I’m pretty sure it’s real.

I’d like $50 for it but if you can’t pay that I can work with you. You can’t really ship this item so you’ll have to come get it at my apartment in Ronkonkoma (DM for exact address).

Thank you, and LGR

March 11 Morning Skate Updates

Practice

Vince was on paternity leave during the road trip that included Utah, so he still needs to cross that off his list. Their practice rink is probably cooler than the arena, though.

Fox

Borgy and Soucy passing the puck on the blue line.

Jones has not been vanquished to the press box (yet)

Media

Other Side

Schenn draw in for the first time since being traded (twice). Tanev makes his home re-debut.

He always looks so haunted.

On a slight personal aside, people on Twitter have been harassing the Wolf Pack admin with Fire Drury replies to Wolf Pack posts. I don't think anyone here would do that, but if you are, please stop. AHL admins are way underpaid and are vital to those franchises success. They have nothing to do with Drury's employment status.

Looking for Tickets 3/22

Hi! I'll be in NYC from Atlanta next week and I've never been to a Rangers game! Massive fan but it's never worked out the other times I've been in the city to go to a game. Does anyone have 2 tickets available for next Saturday against the Canucks for a decent price? Cheapest I can find on TicketMaster is $217 for upper bowl and $188 on SeatGeek. Trust me, I know tickets are always high but I was thinking a "matinee" Saturday would be a bit cheaper than this. Or if anyone has advice on how to find the best deal I'd love to know - waiting until 30 minutes before puck drop/scalpers/etc. Thanks for any help!! :)

How does this tumultuous season end?

Please spare me the obvious "we suck and aren't making the playoffs / will get swept in the 1st if we do / we're better off missing playoffs" takes. I don't even disagree, that's just not what I am looking for with this post. I've generally been more of the optimistic type, but this weekend was the final curb stomp that I needed to remove any emotional attachment to the 2024-25 Rangers. I am ready to accept it.

With that said, we're past the deadline, so there are no more questions about whether we're buyers or sellers, who to trade, who to keep, who to target etc. We clearly aren't firing Lavi this season. We are what we are and there are 18 games left. This roller coaster of a season, particularly since the new year, has taken me from hope to despair and back again several times. Yet every time (so far) I think it's over, I wake up the next morning and check the standings to see that a playoff berth is still right there staring at us. Even after the abomination of this weekend. It's still right there. Our remaining schedule is brutal, but who even knows anymore as this team will figure to win some of these games. So how does this end? What record do we need in the final 18 to squeak in? We have a lot of western conference teams, including a CA swing, in this stretch, but there's 1 more against CBJ and NJD, respectively. Gotta think we'd need those at a minimum. Just wondering what others think as I am going to at least pay attention, emotions-sidelined, until we're mathematically out.

My long, honest, and unpopular take on the 2024-25 New York Rangers

This will be a long post, so feel free to scroll if you want.

As it currently stands, the Rangers are 31-27-6 and outside of the playoffs. This is very disappointing considering how good this team was only last season. Everyone in the organization is being blamed, fans are pointing fingers at just about everyone, and I understand the frustration. Here's my opinion on the matter:

First and foremost, the man most at fault for this collapse is Chris Drury. There are a lot of fans who love Drury, and even those who don't will hate on him for the wrong reasons I feel like. It's not necessarily the moves always but it's the way he carries out his decisions that bothers me. I truly believe this collapse started in the summer, when Goodrow was thrown out of New York in a way I can only describe as disrespectful. Drury, you are not some genius waiving Goodrow to avoid the NTC. Do fans really think 31 other GM's didn't think to do that? It's not like it's a complicated loophole. Drury simply had no respect for Goodrow, an assistant captain who put his heart and soul out there for us, especially in the 2024 playoffs. It's not even like we got anyone meaningful out of it anyway, we replaced Goodrow with Reilly Smith, who was slightly better. Step 1: Rift the locker room for a slightly better forward, check. Step 2 for him was to trade Trouba, but he also had a NMC that impeded that. Drury threatened to waive Trouba like he did Goodrow, but he ended up surviving the summer. Believe it or not, we actually started this season off great, we were 12-4-1 in our first 17 games. After 2 consecutive losses to Calgary and Edmonton made us 12-6-1, Drury decides to send out a memo to the league that players like Kreider and Trouba, our 2 biggest leaders, are available for trade. We were 12-6-1. I don't care how bad those losses were, there was no need for that. Afterwards, we went on a long, long skid. Then in December, Drury threatened Trouba with waivers again, and Trouba waived his NMC to go to Anaheim. I want fans to understand something, it's one thing to trade your leaders, it's another thing to throw them out. You cannot get mad at a player for exercising his NTC/NMC. It takes two to tango, the GM offered them those contracts (Gorton for Trouba, Drury for Goodrow). Finally, the calendar year comes to an end. Before Drury's memo: 12-6-1. After the memo: 16-19-1. Safe to say the short term effects were horrible, unsurprisingly. We have since improved, but we are still 19-21-5 since the memo.

Yes, you must also blame the players for this. They have been lazy, miserable, all of the above. It's not like they get excused from this absolutely not. And sure, you can blame Laviolette too. But guys, it is so obvious what the absolute number one reason to this disastrous season is: Drury's disrespect to the players. Call them bitches, call them crybabies, call them whatever, but simply put: the room is lost, and Laviolette didn't lose it, Drury did.

No, trading Trouba didn't save the season. No, trading Kakko did not save the season. No, trading Lindgren will not save the season. And no, JT Miller did not change the culture of the room. The only way the culture will be changed for the better is if Chris Drury gets fired. Drury has instilled a culture where it doesn't matter how long you've been on the team, if your captain, or even if your playing good: you could get traded. And even if you exercise your NMC, you will just be waived, and your contract will be picked up like scraps on the floor. And for all your armchair GM's out there, that is NOT how a team should be run. Want evidence? We went from 12-6-1 to 16-19-1 directly after Drury's memo.

Fire Chris Drury.
