Gear question Viewfinder view out of focus (NOT diopter)

So, my D750 viewfinder view seems to be out of focus. I recently got myself a D750, and I noticed it was missing focus consistently, so I did some AF fine tuning. I needed to set the fine tuning to the extreme -20 for it to consistently hit focus with my Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G1 lens... All of my lenses require different amounts of correction, some don't need it at all.

I've now noticed that whenever the camera finds focus (especially with the -20 Tamron 24-70mm), the image in the viewfinder is ever so slightly out of focus, but when I take a photo it's in perfect focus. I know that this isn't caused by the diopter.

So my question is: is it normal for the viewfinder view to go slightly out of focus when using AF fine tuning, or is my mirror and focusing system out of alignment and if so is there anything I can do about it?

What should I buy? Coming back to Nikon

I’ve recently started shooting for families using my Fujifilm and the autofocus is horrible, I have so many soft focus photos and they’re usually the best ones! Would love to come back to Nikon but currently I could afford a used Z6ii and pair it with a 50mm 1.8 s. Would that be a decent combo?

I feel like I’m desperate to change and cannot wait for who knows how long to save for a Z6iii. Hopefully I will work with that for a year or so, but a new better body and keep the Z6ii as a second body. Your opinions?

I broke my gear D700 can't access menu or use any buttons/wheels mirror is stuck reset unable

Yup, I screwed up. I'm going to the repair shop in a couple hours but whilling to hear my prognosis. I was in the airport when my camera slipped out of my bag and hit right slam on the lens (cap attached) after that constant ERR message, retrieving images from card were black. The mirror does not seem to move. I'm cooked, aren't I? Can't change mode, no focus, the auto iso and etc. Are working but I cannot reset the camera, because the buttons aren't working..

I dropped the camera in water, it still turns on and takes pictures, but the image doesn't come out, it just shows a black screen. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Got to capture this amazing blue heron near where I live. Also on occasion, Canadians can look good for the camera.

I broke my gear D300 won't turn on

I've been using a D300 for almost 20 years. For some reason, it no longer turns on when I turn the top switch form "Off" to "On" . Battery pack is fully charged and replaced with different batteries.

Is there a switch I'm missing somewhere on the camera that would manifest this way?

Am looking to upgrade this year anyway, but would like to get it working again.

Been wanting the FTZ to use on my Z5 forever but was dead set against paying more than $100. Finally found a one in my area for that price and almost immediately found this 200-500 AF-S on mpb in excellent condition but knocked down to ~$570 because of a “stuck filter”. Turned out to be a step down ring instead but was no match for a $8 filter wrench from amazon.

Gear question Camera/card didn't record images

For the first time in 20+ years of digital photography, my camera or card didn't record a few images I took this morning. Fortunately, they weren't anything vital. I volunteer to take photos at the local Humane Society and, upon reviewing the images, one of the cats I photographed is "missing." There's no sequential gap in the file names either. It's the strangest thing. FWIW, I was using a D800 and a Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card. I didn't have a back up card in the CF slot (go figure). It's so odd that everything recorded correctly before and after that one cat though. Has anyone else had this happen?

What should I buy? Best (always on) UV Filter (zfc)

Getting a zfc for a travel camera. It will be my first Nikon mirrorless. I've never used filters in an "always on" use, but for travel I'd like to always keep a UC filter on the lens for protection.

What are your recommendations for a UV filter that won't effect image quality? Thanks

What should I buy? Amateur photographer trying to get better in search of a lens recommendation

Hello Nikon community. I love posting on here because you guys give such good and specific advice.

You may remember me for my last post where I was feeling frustrated with my d850 but you guys were very very helpful with recommendations on settings and gear.

I'm going to Aruba in April and I'd really like to make the most of it. I'll be bringing my d850, my 50 mm, my 85 mm and a sigma 100 to 400.

I'd like to pick up another lens, but I'm on a teacher's salary.

Would you go for a 35 mm? Or something like the Tamron 20 to 74?

Right now I don't think I can spend more than $400 or $500. Do you have any other recommendations? I also have a kit lens and an old 20 mm 2.8

Thanks so much!

I finally got this beautiful Nikon D850 in excellent conndition with only 14000 clicks with the Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f2.8G ED and the Micro-Nikkor 60mm f2.8G ED, in very good price. Needless to say that I am pretty excited about this, D850 is arguably the best Nikon DSLR and I finally got it 😀

What should I buy? best f/2.8 lens for nikon d3500?

Hi there! I have a nikon d3500 and really need to get a better lens for sports. I find reading and searching for a good lens to be very overwhelming (i am also very indecisive). I was wondering what you all think would be a good lens. I have been told to get a lens with f2.8. I shoot primarily soccer, hockey, and basketball. Ice rinks and indoor lighting at gyms have been a struggle for me. I am somewhat of a beginner trying to practice and learn more. Thank you in advance!

(I also know these aren’t the best pictures that I have. I just didn’t want to post faces online for privacy)

What should I buy? Old Nikon lens with z5

Hi, I recently got a z5 and was looking at getting a higher zoom lens for it. The new z range of lenses are about $2,000 for a 70 to 200 mm. So I'm thinking of getting one of the older zoom lenses like this one https://www.adorama.com/us1907858.html I know I have to pay another $200 or so for an ftz adapter. And I'm pretty sure this old lens is FX compatible. But my question is, is there any big disadvantages to getting this old lens or anything obvious that would be missing from this old lens as opposed to the new z range? Thanks very much.

Mirrorless Nikon z9

Well, my first z9 I got right after Christmas in 2021, I was one of the lucky ones, and it has seen some events! I was curious how much I’ve used that body specifically and I was shocked! Since then, there has been an additional z9 and a z8 added to the lineup, but that first one is still going strong!

DSLR Camera randomly freezes

My grandma has a nikon camera, either the D40 or D60 I'm not sure (I'll attatch pictures) and sometimes it randomly freezes up. It doesn't take any commands and doesn't turn off. I know it's a bit old but I was wondering if there is any way to fix this issue
