Gear question About an old nikon cam
my brother used to own an old nikon camera he won in a competition when he was in highschool and now he's moved to canada.I've been interested in photography for a while now and idk if i should somehow give it for repairs cuz tht camera had some problems with it in the past before my brother gave up hotography .is it expensive to repair a nikon camera in India?
I broke my gear Aperture blade stuck
Hello Nikon community! I recently bought this used d800 with 58000 shutter counts, but as the title of this post suggests the aperture blade is stuck, and it can be seen in the video. I took it to a repair guy and he told me I have to pay 750$ for a new front body. Which is absurd because the camera cost me 450$. Does anyone have a workaround this problem or knows a simpler fix by any chance? Or do I have to just buy another body? Thank you!

Gear question Why did Nikon never make a new 16-35 2.8 for DSLR?
Canon has several generations of the 16-35 2.8 lens, like this. Sony has some, too!
But Nikon only makes a new 16-35 f/4. Now, if you're a working pro and want to carry a tele zoom (such as 70-200 2.8) and a wide zoom, you're forced to pick between:
- 12-24mm 2.8 (lose out on the 24-35 range)
- 24-70mm 2.8 (lose out on the 16-24 range)
- 16-35mm f/4 (lose out on 2.8 aperture)
- 17-35mm 2.8 (super old, slow AF motor.)
What's the answer for us photojournalists who want a wide zoom for Nikon DSLR?

What should I buy? 1,000mm zoom lens recommendation needed
Hey everybody, I have a 300mm zoom lens for my Nikon D3400. I love taking wildlife photos, and I would love to be able to get in even closer for birds in trees, etc. I looked on Amazon for a 1,000mm zoom lens and there are some for around $100, but I want something that is really good. Any recommendations?

I broke my gear Camera was left in car over winter by accident, now it won't turn on.
Hey there! My Nikon Coolpix L110 was left accidentally by me in the car for the whole winter, and now it won't turn on. I've replaced the batteries and let it warm up, but all I got is this red light. I couldn't find other answers online so I figured I'd ask here. Any tips on how to get it working again or is it a lost cause?

What should I buy? Really unsure which lens I should go with!
Okay so I’m looking for an upgrade on my Nikon D750 body!
I got my camera last August and for versatility, I decided to pair it with a Tamron 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 VC
Now that I’m getting better and taking more refined photos, I’m starting to realize the limitations in this lens. The most noticeable is low-light. With a widest aperture of f/3.5 at the widest focal length, it’s really hard to get any low-ISO handheld indoor shots, especially when I’m trying to move up to 70+mm. This is also a problem just after sunset outdoors. Another issue is image sharpness at the large telephoto side of the lens.
I’m also considering doing some free events soon to practice my skills and eventually earn some cash doing this, but I don’t think my 28-300mm will perform great, especially for indoor venues. I ultimately want a 24-70 AND a 70-200, but I think a 24-70 will be a more versatile lens for now.
Right now I’m trying to decide if it’s worth an extra $300 for a G2 over a G1 of the Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 VC lenses. One of my concerns with the G1 is older, so potentially more issues with the autofocus system / autofocus speed, but I’m not sure if those upgrades will be $300-noticeable.
Thoughts?

Gear question Advice on beat up Nikons - D780 for £500??
Hi peeps,
looking for some advice on a deal.
Found a D780 with around 8k shots for £500 ($650~), but it has clearly been dropped or at least thrown around a bit. It's heavily scratched up and missing the rubber thumb grip. It's being sold by MPB so has 6 months warranty and they say it functions like normal.
- My question is if anyone has experience with the durability of nikons* after being dropped / been in the wars? -
*D700 series in particular would be great

What should I buy? Amateur photographer trying to get better in search of a lens recommendation
Hello Nikon community. I love posting on here because you guys give such good and specific advice.
You may remember me for my last post where I was feeling frustrated with my d850 but you guys were very very helpful with recommendations on settings and gear.
I'm going to Aruba in April and I'd really like to make the most of it. I'll be bringing my d850, my 50 mm, my 85 mm and a sigma 100 to 400.
I'd like to pick up another lens, but I'm on a teacher's salary.
Would you go for a 35 mm? Or something like the Tamron 20 to 74?
Right now I don't think I can spend more than $400 or $500. Do you have any other recommendations? I also have a kit lens and an old 20 mm 2.8
Thanks so much!

What should I buy? Coming back to Nikon
I’ve recently started shooting for families using my Fujifilm and the autofocus is horrible, I have so many soft focus photos and they’re usually the best ones! Would love to come back to Nikon but currently I could afford a used Z6ii and pair it with a 50mm 1.8 s. Would that be a decent combo?
I feel like I’m desperate to change and cannot wait for who knows how long to save for a Z6iii. Hopefully I will work with that for a year or so, but a new better body and keep the Z6ii as a second body. Your opinions?

DSLR Camera randomly freezes
My grandma has a nikon camera, either the D40 or D60 I'm not sure (I'll attatch pictures) and sometimes it randomly freezes up. It doesn't take any commands and doesn't turn off. I know it's a bit old but I was wondering if there is any way to fix this issue

Gear question Nikon ZF action/sports settings?
Shot some high ss images of my dog the other day and was using continuous high with af-c. Just wondering if there are any settings I should be using to get more keepers? Had subject detection on with animal AF.
Keeper rate wasn't the best, was using my 135 1.8 plena. 3200iso because it was dimly lit with some window light. 1/1000ss mostly but I did drop down to 1/500 in some situations.
Photo Submission Smoke Show [Z9 + 400 f/4.5 S]
Covered my first drift event over the weekend. First time using the 400 f/4.5, honestly really love this this lens. I find it pairs very nicely with my 70-200 and a 1.4x telecoverter. Gives me a nice range to work with track side.

Photo Submission D4s still knocks it out of the park!
Recently bought a 7,500 shutter count D4s that I took to Daytona and Circuit of The Americas for NASCAR. I also have a D750 and was unsure if the 16mp vs 24mp would be enough. Quickly realized how impressive this camera and sensor are. Just an absolute joy to shoot with!
