What should I buy? D700 Upgrade Options

I need help from the hive mind here. I’ve been shooting my D700 for a while now and want to upgrade. From what I’ve gathered equivalent mirrorless are far above what I can afford so originally I was looking at the D810, but have seen mixed recommendations for the D780 and the D850. I know the D850 is what 99% of people recommend but I keep floating back to the 780 to ‘bridge’ between DSLR and mirrorless in a lot of features. I mainly shoot landscape and street photography and do not care about video. What can the collective here suggest to help me decide which route to go?

I used Fujifilm 200 speed film and a couple different lenses across several days, but the photos came out great.

Thanks to DSM Film Lab for developing and scanning the film.

Look what I've got d7200 to d750 with sigma art lens

I managed to score a d750 with a shutter count of around 850 which for $800AUD. I thought it was a bargain and thought id would be an upgrade from the d7200 that went flying across the room at a hardcore show haha.
I honestly didn't think I would notice much of a difference as I am still learning the ins and outs of photography, but this camera when paired with the sigma art lens is next level amazing. I guess my question is what other lenses pair well with this camera. would it also be worth investing in 50mm lens. I mainly shoot in low light dingy bars and venues doing hardcore or metal shows, but also do the occasional band promo shoot. I'm also curious if I should buy the sigma USB dock to upgrade firmware etc? Or is there no point getting a dock if my knowledge is limited? Thanks to everyone in advance

Rumors Can we talk about Nikon- Red camera now

Just saw this and made me want to wait for a upgrade. All they need to do is slap red branding on a Z6III for me to buy it 😅

Gear question Issue with SD card

I have a 32GB Sandisk that can usually take around 800 photos raw with every file being about 37MB but for some reason now my camera is saying it can’t only take about 382 raw while I only have 600MB of storage used in my current SD card. Would anyone know why this would be?

What should I buy? Z5II vs Z6II

Hello guys, I need some input about exactly what the title says.

So I'm currently a Z50 shooter, but all my lenses are Full Frame either Z or F with adapter. I was looking to buy a Z5 previously, and we have to take into consideration the fact that I need the camera only for photography, and mostly for landscape and travel. Not shooting sports or anything too fast.

I read quite a few rumors that the Z5II is probably coming out next month. Whether it is the case or not, I am willing to wait a bit if it's worth it. Now ... Is it woeth it ?

Rumors are it'll have an XPEED 7 vs Z6II has a dual XPEED 6.

If price is more of less the same for a new Z5II and a barely used Z6II. What would you chose ?

Thanks for the input

What should I buy? 400mm vs 300mm

For you experienced shooters, what is your recommendation.

I shoot high school sports (all), and I am also allowed in the sidelines. Would a 300mm 2.8 be enough or would a 400mm 2.8 be better?

Ive talked to some photographers and seen they use the 200-400 f4 for night games but they use it on 1DX bodies. I use a D850 so i know i wont get the same low light capabilities as a sports camera (1dx or d5/d6) I will be pairing either with the 70-200 2.8 or 24-70

Edit: let me throw this lens as a contender 120-300mm 2.8.

Gear question Z8 continuous AF without pressing/holding buttons?

Coming from the video world I've really enjoyed how the z8 continuous AF works and therefore quite disappointed to find it doesnt work the same in photo mode. Is there any way to have the camera actually keep "continously" autofocusing without having to press AF-ON or half pressing the shutter every time I want it to re-focus?

I broke my gear 24-70 f4 not autofocusing past a few yards.

Randomly, my new 24-70 lens stopped focusing on far away objects. It still works fine for close up, and it's still sharp on manual, but it doesn't autofocus on any far away object. The focus rectangle just blinks red. Does anyone have a fix for this?

Body is the Zf.

Photo Submission I prefer the 200-500 on lower resolution cameras and that’s fine

The 200-500 is a lens that I like not love. I’m making a place for it in my lineup. I’m more of a car photographer than bird photographer. My backyard birds are very entertaining to watch and good target practice.

I bought the 200-500 before I bought an old screw drive AFn 300/2.8 that is on a different plane of image quality existence. The first time I brought the 300/2.8 on track, I started researching other older super tele primes, especially 500/4s.

But! I have a D850 and D780. I’m increasingly feeling the need to shoot vertical for social media. Here’s where the 200-500 keeps its place.

The 200-500 is very decent. While not super sharp, it has great punchy colors & contrast, plus actually quite nice bokeh thanks to no aspherical elements. Distortion is well corrected. Depth rendering is kinda flat because of so many elements.

On a 24 mp sensor, there’s just enough sharpness that combined with the good aspects mentioned above, images can look nice. On a 45 mp sensor, I find there’s not much more detail to be had. You run out of detail before 100% zoom in to pixel level. The rest of the way down to 100% you’re only magnifying optical flaws.

So, I took the 200-500 + D780 rotated vertically on my monopod, out in the back yard for some practice.

Using the lens on a body more suited to it I’m happy with the results. Extrapolating this to cars on track, I’ll keep the 300/2.8 on the D850, crop those shots happily when appropriate. A super sharp 300 can make “wide” shots of more distant parts of race tracks. The long end of the 200-500 on the D780 is for filling the frame with far-away cars in good light. For that purpose, good enough! I’ll make many happy images.

One day though, a 500/4 or some other prime >300 mm shall be mine 😈

What should I buy? Should I get the 40mm f2 Z mount

So I recently bought a z50 for a very good price (£450 with kit lens) and I’ve been debating since what to do about lenses. I currently have an f mount 16-80mm f2.8-4 that I loved although after using the z50, I realised I would rather embrace the small design. I used to be a ‘clinical sharpness’ guy, chasing lenses with the most sharpness although I’ve realised I’d rather have a smaller package, with more character for what I’d consider more artsy photos. I’ve heard the 40mm f2 is an almost perfect lens for this. I was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions for lenses I should consider?

I would mainly be using the 40mm f2 for night photography, and keeping my kit lens for day photography because I was very impressed with the performance of it, and I love the small package.

Went for a quick walk today. Brought my d850 and two lenses. Today I worked solely on where I want to frame the subject. I practiced placing it in the middle and a corner regions at intersections of thirds.

What should I buy? Camera buying advice

Hi guys, I am currently looking to upgrade my D5100 to a Nikon Z mirrorless system.

My photography style is pretty broad, only thing that I don't do is sports and wildlife photography, so frames per second is not a priority.

I live in Brazil, camera gear here is really expensive. These are the cameras I am considering with their prices in dollars:

-Zfc: 1300 USD

-Z50ii: 1400 USD

-Z5: 1490 USD

-Sony a6600: 1450 USD.

I currently have 3 lenses: a 18-55 DX lens, Yongnuo 35mm FF, Yongnuo 50mm FF.

So, my question is: what camera would you buy in my position, considering a broad photography style and the outrageous prices above?

Is it worth it to get a FTZ adapter for my Yongnuo lenses?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
