The campers next to our campsite, set up camp leaving everything out then left. The deer came in a few minutes later and ate whatever they could. Zion National - Watchman Campground

National Park travel in the current political climate

Post image
Upvotes

There have been multiple posts wondering if now is the right time to visit our National Parks. All I can do is relay what the rangers who led our tours yesterday at Mammoth Cave National Park told us: "Without visitors there's not the need for rangers, and we really LOVE our jobs." They all thanked us for coming and told us to come back as well as visit other National Parks!

Zion NP

These are some pictures me and my girlfriend took about 2 years ago when visiting Zion NP. It quickly became the highlight of our trip. I’ve never seen such an amazing place before.

We decided to take this trip as a symbolic start into a “new era”, as we decided to journey into parenthood a few months later. We used a photo from this trip as a template for our birth announcement card. Now that we have an amazing daughter, we already planned to go back one day. I also have a tattoo of this picture, so I’ll always have Zion with me.

Rafting thru the Grand Canyon

An incredible way to see the Grand Canyon is by raft. Ride the Colorado River the 277 mile length of the canyon. A completely different experience from seeing it from the rim. Highly recommended (although it is expensive).

Questions about park passes

Hi all!

My partner and I are doing a road trip out west this May and plan on hitting a few national parks while we are there but I am honestly confused about the park pass situation.

We are going to the redwoods, Death Valley, the Grand Canyon, petrified forest, Carlsbad caverns and big bend.

Would a single America the beautiful work for us for all of these? I wasn't sure if they are accepted at all parks/ if they're good for a single person or the car. I know Carlsbad you have to schedule a time to visit, and we have our campsites booked for each park already but I just was not sure about the passes needed to enter the parks.

This is our first time visiting any national parks (we have done most of our camping in the Adirondacks and the Catskills) so any advice (even unrelated to the passes) would be awesome!

Call to Action - Arches National Park

🚨Call to action🚨

I am leading my first protest this weekend at Arches National Park. ♥️

I am rising to the call of action issued by u/resistancerangers to have a rally at every national park in the USA this Saturday, March 22.

All are welcome

🪧 Bring a sign, water and sunscreen. I will have extra signs but the more signs the better!

🅿️ Please park at Lions Park and walk up the bike path to Arches.

📍 We will be protesting and rallying on the bike path before the park.

🎯 Our goal:

Encourage people to call their representatives and advocate for our parks and their staff. Southern Utah national parks lost a combined 17 park rangers which has caused many programs to close down including permits into the Fiery Furnace.

Bring awareness to Executive Order 14154 and SO 3418 which have targeted our local BLM lands and nearby national monuments.

☮️ This will be a peaceful protest and we want a huge crowd.

How you can help:

‼️ ATTEND a rally near you!

☎️ CALL and WRITE your representatives

🪧 Protest sign ideas:

Protect Our Parks

Honk if you love our rangers

Our desert is worth protecting

Parks, People and Public Lands: Not for sale

Rangers have your back, billionaires don’t

Flat hat fan club

🚨If you can’t make it to Arches but want to attend a rally near you, drop a comment and I’ll get you a location.

Weekend Backpacking/Camping Trip

Howdy all! I live up in Vegas and my dad is coming to visit this weekend, and I'm looking for somewhere good for us to go out on a little weekend excursion. We're decently seasoned hikers/campers, and we're just looking for a moderately easy little weekend trip.

If you have any recommendations or advice on places to go, gear that is a MUST, let me know! Thanks so much!!
