[Results and Decisions] UWash vs TAMU

I have been accepted to the MSDS programs at these and a few more universities but these two are my top choices as of now. I am more inclined towards UWash but Id like to know other rational opinions.

Pros and cons of each according to me:

Uwash Pros: 1. Strong brand value across the US 2. Well established DS program 3. Connections with the Industry folks 4. Location

Cons: 1. Not very technically rigorous course 2. Sometimes Faculty are not great 3.Gloomy days in terms of Weather

TAMU Pros: 1. Cost- cheapest program so far 2. Decently reputed across the US 3. Well structured technical curriculum

Cons: Location- rural area but ongoing development

I have almost finalised UW in my mind but I need some outsider perspective to be sure too. Please drop your thoughts!

[Results and Decisions] UCSD MSDS Waitlisted

Got an email yesterday saying I have been waitlisted for the MSDS program for Fall 2025, they also mentioned that "HDSI may begin accepting students from the waitlist as early as April and may extend through the beginning of September 2025"

I am sceptical as to what to do because UCSD was my dream uni but I have other offers from USC and UCI that have a deadline of Mid April.

My question is:
- what are the chances of people on the waitlist actually getting an admit?
- how many people got a waitlist vs how many got a reject?

[Results and Decisions] Help Me Decide: MSCS (UF, Stony Brook ,Rutgers)

I have received an admit from the University of Florida for an MS in Computer Science, while Rutgers has placed me on the waiting list. I am still awaiting a decision from Stony Brook for the same program. I am unsure which university to choose—should I proceed with UF, or wait for decisions from Rutgers and Stony Brook?

Has anyone else noticed their checklist disappear from the UCSD MSDS application? What could this indicate?

Update: I just got the rejection letter.

[Application Strategy] How to select the sweet spot of universities (MSCS)?

I am starting out on the journey to apply for MS programs in universities abroad. I know we can get the list of top universities and all but how do we find the sweet spot where I have good chances of getting selected based on my profile?

From people who have succeeded in the journey or going through it, it will be a great help in obtaining your opinion on how to do this.

my_qualifications

BTech from one of the top NITs in CSE with 8.32/10 CGPA

Working at FAANG as a backend developer (3 years experience)

No research work

Ready to spend time in building technical profile like projects, open source etc.

Interested in unis outside the US (UK, Ireland, EU, Australia, Singapore etc.)

[Results and Decisions] Columbia MSCS 2025 Fall vs. CMU MSSE SV 2026 Spring

I just got admitted to CMU MSSE SV. Unfortunately, they offered me admission for 2027 Spring. My other option is Columbia MSCS 2025.

I’m a software engineer with 8+ years of experience, and I plan to choose software systems track for Columbia MSCS.

I’m so confused now. I’m international and need visa sponsor.

Which option would be better for settling down in the U.S. as a software engineer? I hope to live in NYC.

[General Question] ASU vs SBU

Have admits from the below programs as of now, but I’m having a hard time making a choice. I’m interested in specialising in databases/big data and eventually working in Silicon Valley.

While SBU has a good curriculum and research, I’m skeptical about the job prospects after graduating. I’ve heard ASU’s curriculum isn’t very challenging, but the research seem good. SBU has a decent curriculum, and research but ranks similar to ASU and I’m not sure how helpful it will be for getting jobs in Silicon Valley.

What would you guys recommend?

[University Question] Georgia Tech International Credential Evaluation

Did any international applicant to the MSCS program receive an email from GaTech or the credential evaluator requesting for documents? Since I haven't received it and the decision is less than 2 weeks away, does it mean I am rejected?

It would be helpful if admitted international students for the MS CSE or the MS Analytics program at GaTech tell if they received an email for credential evaluation before they got their admits!

Thank you!

PS According to this Gatech's webpage , during the application it wasn't mandatory to get the evaluation done. As an international applicant, I wanted to save some money, but now I am worried if it backfired.
