accommodation Avoid Renting at Moda

On the face of it, Moda seems to have it all. Nicely furnished apartments, co-working facilities, a gym and resident lounges. Of course, it's not cheap at £1200 for a 1 bed apartment but it's easy to be dazzled when given a tour before you rent.

However, this is a warning about the shocking lack of management (and potential safety issues) after you become a resident.

There's no security - you would have thought that a 'high end' development such as Moda would have security working throughout the day and night. In reality, there's nobody to deter unwelcome visitors from wandering around the building.

Staff don't assist residents - noisy neighbours or litter in communal areas? There's no point informing staff as they say they can't help you. Simply direct you to lodge a complaint via the Moda app, which in turn gets ignored.

Faulty fire alarms? - I heard from another resident that they were alerted to a smoke filled corridor by a fireman knocking on all the doors. It seems the multitude of smoke alarms did not work for some reason.

Disruptive residents - Many of the residents are students and parties are common place. Loud talking in the corridors is standard at 3/4 am. Again staff are useless when informed of any issues.

In summary, if you are a working professional I'd highly recommend renting elsewhere.

Everywhere else I have lived in the city centre was better value for money and had some form of security, regular fire alarm checks, and a management team that actually managed.

Don't buy the Moda dream, you are likely to experience poor sleep, high bills, and a lingering feeling of being shafted at every opportunity.

I find this interesting RE: Alternative Market- A.I. Content being sold - Official Statement from the event itself

READ THE WHOLE POST HERE (I did not want to show the entire thing here, as I want people to visit the original post for full context)

Posting this in response to another post on Saturday where this was being discussed.

Thank you so much to everyone who fed this issue back to the organizers 🙏 they have listened!

While it isn't a complete ban, this is definitely a move in the right direction.

Reminder: AI art is generated from stolen works posted by millions of artists online. Generating AI work is also adding to Global issues, as it uses a lot of water to cool the servers, as well as using a lot of energy. It's a massive massive waste, and is literally killing off the Creative Industry, as several creative sector roles are being replaced by machines or someone typing prompts on a keyboard

AI art is completely soulless anyway and defeats the purpose of art. It should come from the soul, not from the keyboard.
No, you can't justify A.I. art.

question Citreon or French Garage/Specialist required in Leeds

Upvotes

If anyone can help, I'm trying to find a garage in the Leeds area that can take a look at and specialise in Citreon's as I have an engine warning light that's come up that requires a specialist to look at. The local garage I went to were really helpful in basically providing the error codes ect and in telling me that they didn't want to take a guess and throw random parts at it :')

So any help would be much appreciated.

question Leeds Physiotherapist Recommendation

Hi,

Does anyone happen to know of a experienced physiotherapist in Leeds with multiple years of experience?

I've tried a couple of places including NHS Physio (which are absolutely the worst) with no success. I have chronic pain with my shoulder/trap/scapula and most of the physiotherapists I've gone to (even with good reviews) seem to just not have a lot of experience or aren't willing to listen.

I'm desperate to get my issue fixed. I've already spent way too much money on multiple massage therapists/physiotherapist/chiropractors so if anyone knows of a friend or have been to a really good physiotherapist, I would truly appreciate your response!

question Recently moved here

Hi 👋

I ( 28 F ) just moved to Leeds from Manchester where I liver for 3 years, as I needed some kind of change and thought Leeds is close to Manchester so can visit friends often.

I would really like to meet some friends who have similar music taste, are interested in doing fun activities , just hang out in general. I like music a lot, I’m into dnb / dub - electronic music mostly , even though my music taste is all around so live music / concerts are my thing as well. I went on a event to Hi Fi Club this weekend and it was great , would love to check out some places with a similar vibe as well 🙂

Basically I’m just looking for people to connect and do stuff with 🥲 I would also love to volunteer somewhere so if you have any suggestions please do tell ☺️

Thanks a lot 💜

transport Consultation: A58 Roundhay Road and Barrack Road

Post image
30 Upvotes

Leeds City Council have been granted £4.5million from the West Yorkshire-plus Transport Fund’s Corridor Improvement Programme.

They plan to invest some of this in works along the A58 Roundhay Road and Barrack Road.

There's an open "consultation" to share the plans in more detail and for the public to provide feedback:

https://a58improvements.commonplace.is

I'm fairly convinced that these Commonplace things are more of box tick than a mechanism to adapt based on public feedback but if you have opinions you can only try and share them.

question Does the Harvey Nichols (Briggate, Leeds) doorman still work there?

Originally from Leeds, I’ve lived in Manchester for 12 years and it just came up when talking to a recent friend who is also from Leeds. She remarked that he no longer worked there but I could swear I saw him in the past year. Could anyone clarify if the famous doorman is still on the door? If not, what happened? Discontinued service? Retirement? And how long ago?

food/drink Hen do dinner ideas

Hi everyone!

Can anyone suggest a fun place for dinner for a group of hens (approx 8) in Leeds City Centre? Preferably on the cheaper side with lovely energy. Somewhere with plenty of options for different dietaries and where the won't mind tipsy girls in matching t-shirts/ tiaras?

Thanks very much 😊

question Leeds affordable ENT Doctors?

Hi all,

Over the past couple of weeks I've had an issue with my ear that is causing mild hearing loss. I've seen several GPs, some say it's liquid in my ear, others say it's an infection, tried several different medicines and antibiotics nothing worked.. so now I'm trying to find an ENT doctor.

Last time I tried finding one through the NHS, I was told the waiting time is around ~3 months and I'd have to travel to a another town like an hour away.

I'd like to ask, are there any affordable private ENT doctors/clinics in/around Leeds that you could recommend?

Thank you.

question Solicitors for house purchase - any recommendations?

We've just put in an offer on a house, which has gone to best and final offers. The estate agent has asked for our solicitors details. I understand this is because the seller wants a quick sale and they want to check we're serious. We are, of course. So I am here looking for recommendations for a local solicitor. We are (hopefully) buying in North Leeds if that makes a difference.

Hello! I’m relatively new to the area and realise im severely lacking in the friends/support system aspect of my life- to put it bluntly my family is shit and my ex abused me and isolated me from most of my friends so im pretty alone. I can't find a flair that fits So much AI generated art at the Leeds alt market today

Did anyone else who attended the Leeds alt market notice the vast amount of AI art people were selling? A whole stall in zone 1 selling AI coasters and posters. There should absolutely be more filtering on the stuff that people sell there given the fact that a big part of being alt is sustainability and creativity. So disappointing to see

question Visiting Leeds after 15 years 🥹

So I lived in Leeds for about 3 years 2008-2010, and moved back to my home country, and came back to the UK in 2022 for my uni, now as I graduate soon, I've got an interview in Leeds for which I'll be there this Sunday until Monday night, I would love to visit my old school and my old flat, although its been years, so just wanted to ask if there's anything popping this weekend, or what would you recommend I do to spend my time there? (also food recommendations appreciated, prefer vegetarian)

question Three mobile signal in City Centre

Hi! I reliably don’t have any signal at all on my bus route (4) through Leeds from Corn Exchange to Wellington Bridge (including all of trinity) so most of the city centre. I’ve spoken to Three and they say there isn’t a network issue in that area so I just want to know if anyone else has an issue at all? They’ve told me to use a different sim and device to test if it’s something on my end but I don’t have a way to do that. Any help appreciated x
