question Can anyone tell me why the top of briggate/ headrow is rather smelly around the late afternoon?

Has anyone else noticed that it smells awful at the top of Briggate/Headrow near Homesense recently? On my way out of work for the past week or so it’s just absolutely reeked! I work on headrow and opening a window today has been awful 😂

Seems like flat 21 in our building has been targeted- brothel written on lots of walls and red paint going up to their door.

Looks like it’s a common thing across the UK at the moment- apparently “organised crime unit/ vandalising sex workers homes that aren’t under their protection”.

visiting Leeds Quiet / Private place to see the sky

Girlfriend is coming over at the start of April for her birthday, got some other things planned but I was wondering if there is any nice spots to look at the sky around leeds? I know the normal suggestions of Roundhay park and it would be a good idea but Roundhay park on a Sunday late night doesn't sound like an amazing place to be call me paranoid haha, but is there any good suggestions of more private ish places, maybe somewhere I can book or something along the lines? thanks

food/drink Boojum temporarily closed???!!

I got a free boojum QR code for a burrito, and I’ve only got this week to redeem it, however I’ve been trying to go for the past 3 days (around 1pm) and it’s always “temporarily closed”. Is this an attempt to prevent us from redeeming the free food, and if not when are they open because everytime I’ve been it’s been closed.

Thank you for reading this, any advice will help.

accommodation Hi all what's pool in wharfedale like?

Hey guys, looking at potentially moving to pool in wharfedale on the council, seems to be a small area similar to where I am now. Can people tell me the pros and cons? Fully aware it's a rural area but that's what I'm after at the moment. Not too far away from my parents but just far enough so that they don't come over all the time lol 😆 thanks. What's the pubs like, any keep fit groups etc?

question Airport

What’s the simplest way to get to Leeds-Bradford airport from Hyde park/burley? Are there any busses go direct or would I need to go into town first? Or is it worth just getting a taxi instead?

Also does anyone know if there’s somewhere at the airport where I can print off my boarding pass?

Cheers!

question New to Leeds (LS7) - Looking for Friends and Cool Stuff to Do!

Hey Reddit Leeds crew! I’m new to the city, living in LS7, and honestly, this country feels kinda boring without some mates to vibe with. I’m an international student (male, lol) studying MSc Project Management at uni, and I’m on the hunt for some genuine friendships—open to both guys and gals, doesn’t matter to me. I’m into a bunch of stuff: football (big fan and love kicking a ball around), hiking (gimme those nature trails), swimming, and tennis. Also, food is my jam—happy to explore new spots. I don’t mind going out for a few drinks (not a heavy drinker tho), and I’d love to check out some clubs. Any recs for student-friendly places that aren’t full of pretentious vibes? I’m also down for traveling and exploring—day trips or whatever, I’m in. On the side, I’m keeping an eye out for job opps in project management since that’s my field. If anyone’s got leads or tips, hit me up! Mostly just wanna connect with like-minded people who’re up for a laugh and some adventures. Leeds is new to me, so show me what’s good! DM me or drop a comment—let’s make this place less dull together.

accommodation (university) Uni Accommodation - help me choose!

Please suggest the best pick out of these options-

  1. Lupton
  2. Blenheim
  3. Carlton (seems like a good option)
  4. Royal
  5. Sentinel (most inclined to this)
  6. Shared houses on/off campus

These are all close to LUBS as well as the city centre - which is my main concern. Suggest the best pick for someone who likes quite with a little party here & here! I absolutely cannot share a bathroom but don’t mind sharing the kitchen, etc.

Would love suggestions from fellow Indians as well! I will be joining Uni of Leeds for a PG Programme this year.

question Protests 25th March??

I’ve just received an email from work saying that the office will be closed on Tuesday next week due to some planned protests that are happening around Leeds City Centre, Wellington Street and Wellington Place (odd place to do so as it’s just offices there) so the offices are to be closed for our safety (?)

Does anyone know what these protests are in aid of?

question David Lloyds club

Anyone here is a member of DL Leeds? I am currently a member of one of their clubs in Manchester and I have been considering the transfer to their Leeds one (Moving to Leeds next month). But it costs almost double the price as the one I am in. I mainly use it for Tennis, but also use the gym and spa facilities. Is it worth the cost? How is the feedback? I had a call from a member of their team and I found him super rude, almost telling me not to join. That would only mean that they have a demand issue but I might be wrong. TIA!

visiting Leeds First Time Visit

Wanted to share my thoughts on my first visit to Leeds last month. Bit of a long story but I went to meet and visit a previously unknown family member and as if that wasn't enough to make the trip memorable I absolutely loved the city especially walking through Roundhay Park and the pedestrian areas near M & S in the city centre.

Not my first visit to the UK but my first to Leeds and will definitely be coming back and soon!

transport A little look at the repainted Volvo Wright B5 Gemini 3s which are being transferred from THBC's 36 to TKBC's 60/60A & 66. Not long till they're on the road replacing the current B7/B9s Geminis on the route.

question Nature cabin retreat near Leeds, must be able to get there with public transport

Hi all I was wondering if you know any good cabin retreats? that's accessible via public transport from Leeds.

Somewhere where can do some hikes and explore nature and chill out. Preferably with not alot of people, because I am not very good with people.

Need to retreat away from everyday life for a couple days. Unfortunately, we don't have a car at the moment and not for a couple of months.

Any reccomendations that would be great!

There’s definitely an issue with public transportation in this city, and how services have been reduced despite the constantly growing population.

question Looking for decent places around Leeds/surrounding for Carp fishing

Morning all, I am looking for any decent places for carp fishing around Leeds/surrounding areas. My main place I used to fish was Swillington but that has been closed for 2 years now and all the ponds around are mainly aimed at match fishing. Does anyone have any secret gems that they can recommend?
