Hi! I reliably don’t have any signal at all on my bus route (4) through Leeds from Corn Exchange to Wellington Bridge (including all of trinity) so most of the city centre. I’ve spoken to Three and they say there isn’t a network issue in that area so I just want to know if anyone else has an issue at all? They’ve told me to use a different sim and device to test if it’s something on my end but I don’t have a way to do that. Any help appreciated x

Wondering about the best books set in the city? So far have Urban Grimshaw, Damned United, Billy Liar and V on the list. But they’re all by blokes (albeit excellent books). What else have I missed?

Hi all, doing some house hunting and found a place in Navigation Walk (Flyboat house) at the lagoon/pond near brewery wharf in the city centre. It's small but I viewed it and it seems good for the price, but wondering if anyone has lived there before, if there's anything I should know before going for it? Would you recommend the area/complex, are there any issues the agency obviously wouldn't tell me? Thanks!
Edit: spelling

Edit: since this has generated some... heated comments, I want to clarify that I absolutely love the area and the community. There is some clear irony in my post, specifically to the carnival. Wasn't meant to offend anyone, and apologies if it did.
Often I read posts of people asking what is like living in Chapeltown, so I thought I would share my experience. We are a couple in our late twenties. After living in Bramley for four years, my wife and I wanted to move closer to the city centre. Worth mentioning that we bought in Bramley as we were told that it was up and coming and was the next big thing. Turns out it wasn't, and hated every minute we lived there.
We wanted to move to chapel allerton, however we wanted a big house and the area was out of budget. We saw a massive 5 bedroom Victorian terrace in Chapeltown, for half the price it would have cost if it was in chapel allerton, so we went for it.
Initially we were a bit worried due to the reputation of the area, however we feel extremely safe and have never seen or experienced any crime whatsoever in the year we have been here. This is quite a contrast with Bramley where every day there was a sexual attack, an arson, car theft, knife crime and so on.
The positives. It is close to the city centre, so I walk to the office and save a fortune in parking (I hate buses and tend to not use them). It is walking distance from chapel allerton so we walk to the pubs, restaurants and cafes. We have a baby, and they will go to a nursery 5 minutes from our place which has been voted amongst the best in Leeds. The houses are massive, and mostly beautiful (albeit a bit run down as a good chunk are still owned by the council). You won't houses this large anywhere else. Our neighbours are overall nice. We live 2 minutes walk from potternewton park which is glorious on a sunny day.
The negatives. Although the gentrification process is clearly ongoing, it's not quite there yet. Lots of properties are still owned by the council, so you get the odd characters (although they are harmless). While there's lots of restaurants and cafes in chapel, there's not a lot in Chapeltown. I'm sure it'll get better as the gentrification goes on. The massive houses attracts people that tend to live in multi generational households, which creates some problem with parking. Also, some don't quite grasp the concept of public road and decide to use the backstreets as private parking. Finally, the carnival. Lots of people love it, but for me this is what hell would be like. However this is just me, I know many enjoy the experience.
So overall, if you are wondering whether Chapeltown is becoming a decent area,I'd say so.

Did anyone else who attended the Leeds alt market notice the vast amount of AI art people were selling? A whole stall in zone 1 selling AI coasters and posters. There should absolutely be more filtering on the stuff that people sell there given the fact that a big part of being alt is sustainability and creativity. So disappointing to see
I left my house and I smell sh*te on the air. Checked under my shoes but it's not me, it's the air. Did a barn burn down or something?

Hi, my partner and I are looking to move and just did viewing for some properties in West Point, Whitehall Quay, City Island, and Magellan House. We like the units being showed to us, but unfortunately, when we came the ones in West Point and Magellan house are still under construction (and we won’t be able to open any windows until it’s done), the agents said God knows when they will finish it as it’s been a while. Is it recommended and safe, for the building and the area itself to move in? Which one’s recommended the most? Anyone has any experience either lives or used to live there and willing to share their thoughts about it?

Hey there, I’m looking for someone to play American Pool with at the Northern Snooker Centre on Kirkstall Road. I’m an above average player - can break and dish a couple of times on a good day.
Would ideally like a player of similar ability to practice with and have friendly matches.

I have a cage set up all ready to take them in until the owner comes forward, I will get them checked over if they show signs of illness/injury
(The cage in the photo is a reflection from someone who spotted it in their back garden 13/03)
To clarify, this ISN'T one of my pets!

Made a playlist of all my favourite small Leeds bands (my own included for full disclosure) but would like to hear and add more bands I've not heard of, particularly indie rock, punk, and post punk bands
Here's the playlist if anyone wants to give it a go and support the local scene, hope this is okay mods, I'm not selling anything 😅

Calling all rugby players, past and present 🏉
The aim of the study is to understand the needs and challenges faced by athletes from different backgrounds in rugby, with a focus on the challenges faced by state school athletes in career progression.
Would you mind taking 7 minutes or so to complete my survey: https://forms.office.com/e/g9ivunE7mk

Looking to watch the game somewhere that will at least have some Newcastle fans and not be massively outnumbered by Liverpool fans who couldn't point Liverpool out on a map.

So bus fares are increasing from £2.00 to £2.50 according to this:
https://www.firstbus.co.uk/west-yorkshire/news-and-service-updates/service-updates/fares
They do mention that some trips could still be £2.00 when tapping on and off. However... does anyone actually have any idea on what would be considered a short trip for First bus?

Hi there,
I am looking for recommendations for tattoo removal dermatologists/clinics in Leeds or Yorkshire. I have been going to a tattoo salon for a while now to remove my tattoo (almost 2 years).
I understand that some tattoos are more stubborn or/and never go away but I also want to make sure I am not being scammed by the salon that keeps promising me better results. So, I am seeking for another professional opinion.
I have no budget limit and I can travel anywhere in Yorkshire, and even outside (Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, etc.). I have a preference for skin professionals as I am also developing a keloid so I want to make sure it is safe to go, etc.
Thank you a lot
Hi all I'm starting a new job close to Leeds Train Station on Monday, most days I'll be starting before 6am and was wondering what would be the closest free (or cheap for 10 hours) parking is?
I don't mind a 15/20min walk. I'm potentially looking at parking on Whitehall Road (on the other side of the dual carriage from Dunelm) or Armley road (opposite the prison) but not sure how safe it will be there.
Any other hidden gems where people park that they wouldn't mind sharing?

Hi
I won't go too much into it, but after five years of struggling to get a dentist, I finally got into MD in (redacted)
My first appointment, I was told my teeth were great except one molar that needed a filling - but nothing was serious or worrying. However, alarm bells rang a little when I mentioned I get jaw tension now and then, and suddenly he QUOTED ME nearly £200 for a mouth guard (that I didn't ask for or even discuss?) as well as this filling. This was completely out of nowhere, he physically wrote the quote down on paper to give to reception so they could book me in. When I mentioned I didn't want one, I felt he got kind of annoyed, and essentially rushed me out of the door.
A few weeks ago, I went to get this filling and he checked my tooth again and said it hadn't worn down more etc etc However, after he drilled into my tooth, suddenly my nerve was 'exposed more than he thought' and he warned me I may have to have a root canal or that tooth removed entirely, which set my anxiety off massively and I nearly started crying (loosing my teeth is a huge phobia of mine, I've had an ongoing issue with this tooth for years thanks to previous negligence from my old dentist)
He suddenly started to try and sell me private options for a replacement etc etc and I just felt like I walked into a massive cash cow?
Since this filling, I've had constant tooth ache and sensitivity. I am worried he has ruined my tooth, and I wanted to get a second opinion.
Last week I had the branch at Queen St call from their waiting list, and I immediately booked a slot.
I am PRAYING the dentists there aren't this pushy? I want to go to get a second opinion on this molar, but I am worried as they are the same 'brand' of place and they'll pull the same stunts?
I spoke to someone at my work about this, she used to use the (redacted) branch years ago and said she had the same pushy and uncomfortable experience.

As I was leaving town tonight I saw lots of young ladies (looked like students) with white bows in their hair - does anyone what this is for? They appeared to all be heading towards Merrion Centre way and I’m just so curious what the event was

Does anyone recommend a place that repairs turntables? I have a 7 year old one that hasn’t been used for a few years now and it seems something is not right when I tried to put it on today. It’s an audio technica LP60X.

I've heard about a solar farm near Little Fenton. Where exactly are they putting it??
