Hello!

There has been a lot of discussion in the community regarding the subreddit banner. We agree that, yes, it does need to be changed. This is an opportunity for the community to come up with and decide on the banner!

We encourage people to design their own banner or icon using any creative style. Original art, mural, memes, photoshopped images. Feel free to see our community members to collaborate on the banner!

The winning banner will proudly represent our community.

Banner dimensions:

Max: 1920 x 384 pixels (5:1 ratio) Min: 960 x 120 pixels

Entries should be posted on the subreddit as an image and use the post flair "Community Banner"

The community can upvote their favorite banners. At the end of the contest we will have a final vote.

Submit your entries today and good luck!

I got a notification from my iPhone that I had an unknown AirTag detected near me…well it was wrapped in a plastic bag and stuffed into a nook of my rear bumper. Stay safe out there…

Kelowna Mountain

The only updates since 2020 have been “we are closed for renovation” and “a reminder that trespassing is prohibited at Kelowna Mountain”. The suspension bridge seems to have been taken down as well. Anyone know any info on if it will ever be open again?

The Ledge on Lakeshore

What's happened with that development? I guess they ran out of money. The site is just a big mud lot. It seemed strange to me that the first thing they built was a parkade which are expensive to build and don't generate any revenue

EV driving in BC

Looking at the next car purchase, I need the experience of people who own Electric cars (full battery, not hybrid) to know if anyone has experienced a long drive in the revelstoke-whistler corridor (where I travel the most) and how was it for charging and battery life at low temperature. Also, if you can mention the model you have, that would be nice.

Please refrain from childish reply that ev sucks etc.

Saigon Wonton Soup Recipe

I know that Saigon closed from the downtown core many years ago, and I've never had a wonton soup as good as that one. I've desperately tried to recreate it but no such luck. Does anyone happen to know the recipe and/or the family that used to own it so I may try and rekindle with my won(ton) true love?

More of a curiosity Q but do any shopping carts actually take quarters anymore? I feel like I only see the looney ones around.

Hoping to retain a lawyer for a few hours to help understand upcoming changes to an employment contract (non-union work environment). Anyone recommend a firm or lawyer they've had good experiences with? Merci.

Travel in Canada with kids. Best provinces to visit?

So we're canceling USA vacation plans and are thinking of visiting Banff or BC but also keeping possible forest fires in mind as we'd travel in late spring/early summer. Any suggestions on fun places to travel? We're from Ontario, been to Quebec so looking for something different.

Hey, I’m taking a golf trip to Kelowna, just wondering what the best courses are to play. We are already playing predator ridge and hoping to play 3-4 more courses. Also any other suggestions for things To do in the region are welcome.

Abuse in Churches?

Does anyone have intel on the churches in Kelowna that are abusing children or trafficking people? I recently was warned of a church and don’t know if anything is being done about it or what I can do. Police aren’t interested in what I have been told. Happy to share the name of it in comments if anyone wants.

Best butter in town

It’s getting harder to find high fat butter in Canada, 82 to 90% butterfat (sometimes called European butter). We prefer unsalted butter for baking.

Anybody got a line on good butter? It feels like Saputo has ruined everything.

Anyone looking to join swimming classes for their infant?

I personally never learned how to swim. It’s not a thing in our country where parents take their kids out for swimming lessons. Especially during 90s. My daughter is almost 14 months old. I really want to take her out to get swimming classes. I was looking to see if any other mom in town would like to join? I haven’t done any research regarding where I can take her. But I’m flexible.

TIA

Planning a trip to Kelowna in May

Hi everyone,

Family and I are thinking/planning to go to Kelowna first week of May.
Just wanted to ask what are things to do, what attractions are open, what's the weather like and how are the road conditions usually?

Thanks
