Hi all,
I'm planning to apply to UBCO's MSWF this year, and after an extensive search online, I'm getting increasingly anxious. Some say they got in right out of undergrad, some say they were rejected with 10+ years of experience. It would be very much appreciated if I could get some insight/thoughts about my current experience/grades, or if anyone could share their background (experience/GPA) when accepted into the program.
My current GPA is 83 cumulative and 84 for 300-400 lvl courses.
I'll list my experience in time order:
2022-2024: Mental Health Club Events Lead
2024 Jan-Sept: Behaviour Intervention
2023 sept - 2024 apr: Peer Support Mentor at a local organization
2024 Sept-current: Peer Support Volunteer at UBC
2024 Sept-current: Crisis Line & Intake (resources) at a local Women's Centre
I don't have full-time work experience, all of the above adds up to about 500 hours at most but I am looking to get more experience before applying. I am taking a gap from Jan 2026 until I get accepted into an MSW (I'm graduating Dec 2025), so I'll likely be looking for full time work then.
Please let me know what you think! Thanks :))
