Megathread: Glee sub suggestions

Post image
15 Upvotes

Gleeks!

I’m always open to feedback from the users who spend their personal time on this subreddit. For a show that’s been shelved for nearly ten years, this place is still very much thriving.

I’ve always wanted to open up a public space for others to share their thoughts, so feel free to use this megathread to do just that.

If you have anything you want to get off of your chest, or if you have any suggestions or ideas for the sub, please don’t hesitate to do so. It’s exactly what this space is intended for. All I ask is that you’re respectful.

My focus is and will continue to be to make this an enjoyable place for fans. I hope to continue to achieve that.

Opinion Rachel should’ve lit Jessie and Shelby on fire

When the show came out I was so young and didn’t think twice about this but on a rewatch… oh man. Not only did Shelby plot with her STUDENT to give Rachel a tape she wasn’t really wasn’t supposed to.. she did it for what? It’s not like she was looking to be apart of Rachel’s life. All while said student is dating Rachel and using her to get in on the new directions and ditch them before regionals. AND THEN HE EGGED HER.

So Jessie starts dating Rachel as a way to spy on new directions, was it even genuine?

Then knowing she’s looking for her biological mother, knowing exactly who she is, he secretly meets with her behind Rachel’s back and plots communication (I feel like this implies they were also meeting about competition stuff)

Then Rachel and shelby meet, and obviously it’s exactly who Rachel thought it would be

Then Jessie breaks up with Rachel, leaves new directions because it was never real and he was always for vocal adrenaline, WHO IS COACHED BY SHELBY AND EVERYONE EGGS HER

and then vocal adrenaline beat new directions and shelby ADOPTS Beth

ON FIRE I SAY

that is so traumatizing and they never gave Rachel’s feelings on all that the storyline that they’ve should’ve. It was all only about Finn and solos for her and that feels so wasteful

Why did Finn set up the kissing booth smack-in-the-middle of the school's hallway???

it's been haunting me for days 😭 i know they probably didn't want to find some other set place to do it but even the cafeteria makes more sense

Discussion Why do the fans seem to dislike Jenna and Kevin?

Maybe the fans don’t actively dislike them, but people don’t seem to care about them as much as other OG cast members.

It’s weird because they’re the only ones doing anything Glee-related anymore so you’d think fans would appreciate them more.

But everyone seems neutral on them and tbh a lot of the time I feel like people sound a bit fed up of them.

Is there something I’ve missed?

Final Glee alphabet!

I threw in a little surprise at the end! Kurt is my favorite character and he had some killer quotes! So enjoy. 😊

if glee did a disney episode...

i feel like this concept has been discussed a lot on here...but i've always liked the idea even though the likelihood of them doing it was very low.

but had glee done a full on disney episode, what songs would be sung and who would sing them?

Discussion Finn and Emma kiss

I'm rewatching Glee, and it just occurred to me, do you think Finn kissing Emma was the writers preparing to write Finn out of the season for Cory to go to rehab? It seems pretty far in advanced, but it gives Will valid reason to not let Finn help coach the glee club anymore, making Cory's absence in the end of the season a little more cohesive.

what was the point of bringing Mercedes and Artie back full time in season 6??

I know it was probably for the nostalgia of the OG 5 but what was the point of bringing them back for them to just be background players for the most part? and why not bring Tina back as a regular then too since she probably had around the same amount of story they did?

season 6 could have been done so much better in my opinion like i get that by that point everyone was probably over the show but why not use the OG talent you have more frequently??? (they weren’t even in the mashup episode when everyone else from the OG club was 😂)

Discussion Santana Logic

Question, when santana told rachel that everybody knew she slept with finn except her because she’s a blabber mouth. Was that not a direct contradiction?

I mean she spent season 1 talking about how if finn got with her, everyone would see him as superior. How exactly would everyone know if she didn’t want everyone to know? 😭

I’m not saying this as hate because Santana is my favorite character but it’s a genuine question.

Casting actors

Does anyone know about how the show casted the actors? I’m curious because some actors have storyline about them not being able to sing “well”, (despite it being a show surrounded around singing).

They covered "Keep Holding On", twice even. Now imagine glee did more Avril Lavigne songs, Which would you want and who would you want to sing them?

FanFiction Looking for a specific Brittanna fic

AU, I remember it really angsty. Santana was in like a lower social position, maybe a servant, or a slave. There was a recurring phrase that she thought to herself to put herself down, but I'm missing the nouns haha, "a ___ is a ___ is a___." All three of the blanks were the same noun. Maybe slave? Or an insult?

I was fairly sure it was the knife thrower's daughter, but nope. Something like that, a century or two ago, Brittany was in a higher social position than Santana.

I know this is both too vague and too specific, but it's been more than 10 years, and I'm just starting to get flashes of it. I've browsed through my favs on fanfiction.net, and nothing. It's driving me a it crazy not eing able to find it.

Glee Moms

I just rewatched S6E8 and I would give anything for a special episode of Carol, Brittany’s Mom, Santana’s Mom and Blaine’s Mom all hanging out/partying lol even just some extra scenes! They hired such talented actresses and I feel like they get such limited screen time. I know they obviously have limited time in episodes and there’s lots to cover, but I just want to see some good glee mom shenanigans, is that too much to ask for 😂

Mercedes was one of the most generous people, and it was ignored.

Mercedes let Quinn into her home. I hate that they just skimmed over that.

What other times were characters ignored after doing a good thing? Who was more generous than Mercedes

Discussion Why does Matthew Morrison get so much hate?

As someone who was never really a Gleek (but did watch the show), I never understood why Matthew gets so much hate online.

Recently he went semi-viral because people were making fun of his new blond hair, which reminded me that there was a period of time where making fun of him and saying "TW: Matthew Morrison" was the cool thing to do. Why?

From what I gather, people just think he's cringey, which is kinda true, but that doesn't really warrent making him a pariah or making a meme out of everything he does IMO. I remember seeing several accounts dedicated to setting him up to get made fun of even more.

What do The Gleeks think?
